Having a pity party upon realizing that of the 8 "core" courses for my 1st BA in psychology 2 decades ago, I took 7 (only needed 5 to graduate) but the 8th, Perception, is the one my target grad program wants. I can take it as part of the master's but it will add to the cost :-(

$930 tuition plus ~$40 textbook rental is an awful lot of money to learn ONE new thing so far in my "Language Science" course aka Grammar 101. "Particles" were not in any of my kids' grammar textbooks.

My 20th high school reunion was last night and the pics are all over my Facebook feed. I wasn't able to attend so I'm left trying to figure out which of the unfamiliar faces are spouses and which are classmates who look totally different.

Problem only a homeschooler or English teacher would sympathize with: Shakespeare wrote the bulk of his plays in Iambic meter so when I needed an example of Iambic verse I looked in the poetry anthology under Shakespeare. Of course, the first example I found (the witches' chant from MacBeth) is written in trochaic meter. Drat!

Clearly I need a U.S. geography refresher when I was looking at a summer day camp for one child in Kansas City and another in St. Louis and thinking they are close enough to be do-able. D'oh!

Apparently Jean Piaget was wrong about kids realizing the conservation of liquid at age 6-7 because my almost 11 y.o. got tripped up by a Singapore Math volume question involving that property. Sigh...

Wikipedia says that Beverly Cleary's son is named Malcolm, so I don't think the two are related.
