  1. When translating from English to Latin, when does one use the actual pronoun "ego" as the subject as opposed to just letting the subject be part of the conjugated verb at the end of the sentence. As I do my translation work through Henle I see no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes I'll use "ego" and then the answer key doesn't have it. Now I'm doing a translation from Latin to English and "ego" is all over the place. Anyone? Anyone?
  2. Well, I spent the morning out in the backyard. It is a beautiful day... Sunny and warm. I'm hoping spending a couple hours in the sun will improve my disposition. I think I've been feeling blue so much because I've been shut up in the house with rain and fog and overcast. I trimmed the shrubbery, dealt with my herb garden (I have no idea why I planted oregano, it spreads like crazy and is hard to pull out, but I did not disturb Richard the Frog's little lair) and weeded my planter box which is growing fennel quite beautifully and my green onions are doing all right. Now, wash the goat, and start the bread.
  3. I taught school for 2 years at a missionary school in Brazil back in my single days (I didn't get married till I was 34). One of my dearest friends was a gal (she was a bit older than me) who was very white, but grew up like you did, Jeannie, as a MK in Japan. So, she was fluent in English and Japanese and Portuguese. There is a pretty significant population of Asians in São Paulo (Korean and Japanese) and she loved to go to the feira (street market) and talk Japanese to the little old ladies there. And they always thought it was so strange that a white American woman living in Brazil spoke fluent Japanese.
  4. I need to get moving. It's a beautiful day out, but cold. I have shrubbery to prune. "Once you have found the shrubbery, you must cut down the mightiest tree in the forest with.... a herring!" Brought to you by the Knights who say, "ni"! And the letter Y!😎
  5. I'm sorry Jeannie! Glad you got lots of sleep, but not glad you don't feel up to par!
  6. My public school (and even Christian school) education was a joke. I was just a cog in a wheel. Did what I was told. Didn't think about it. But part of that was my fault, I guess. I wasn't interested in learning. But then again.... they didn't interest me in learning. Hmm. Chicken or egg.
  7. You could always keep the tree up and just change out the decorations! Hearts for February, Shamrocks for March, Easter eggs for April..... and so on and so forth.
  8. You can do this, Lynn! We have full confidence in your abilities!
  9. I ketchupped! I'm sitting at my place at the table, looking out the sliding glass door. The lawn and the neighbor's roof are frosty white and the sparrows and finches are having their breakfast at my feeders. This is my favorite winter morning activity.
  10. Good Morning!! COFFEE!!!☕ï¸â˜•ï¸â˜•ï¸
  11. We started in Genesis. We don't read every word. If I were going to start in the New Testament I would not start with Mark. For some reason he is my least favorite gospel. Luke is my favorite and then Matthew.
  12. Hey, I'm comin', too! I'm ready to blow this Popsicle stand!
  13. Sounds like a great day! sleep well!🌠💤💤
  14. I am sorry! That is definitely a touchy subject. Hopefully your DH and sibs can make some headway with their dad!
  15. I don't know anything about podcasts. I listen to talk radio. What kind of podcasts do you like?
  16. I just noticed it's staying light longer. It's a little past 5:30 and the sun just went down. That is nice.
  17. I have a set of Great Courses DVDs that I love, though I've had them for 5 years and haven't finished with them. There's like 45 classes or something. It's The History of European Art. The guy who does the lectures is awesome. Well, I think he's awesome. You can tell he loves what he does. And I have decided that I really like people who love what they do. Somehow that just comes across. I figured out that's why I like Glenn so much on the First and Second Form Latin DVDs. He's kind of (ok, really) geeky, but he loves Latin.
  18. I would be in heaven if I could just homeschool myself. I am an excellent student. sounds peaceful! Can I come over? ummmmm! I'm telling! and I've been patiently waiting all afternoon....
  19. We watched some octopus videos. Those things are gross!
  20. I am so sorry! That is just horrifying. We had 4H lambs growing up and a pack of roaming dogs killed a couple of them.
  21. Me either. But I did have a low carb breakfast, which is huge for me right now. Celebrating one's birthday all week long is not good for eating right. Last night we went out for Mexican food. Yummmy. And had the rest of the birthday cake DD made, along with an apricot pie and homemade ice cream that my mom made. It was good.
