we won't be seeing the full eclipse, but I plan on doing a little class with our homeschool group using the eclipse materials from Apologia. Then we'll watch the partial one, which will be fun, too.

I think you would love a trip to the Getty Museum. Not only does the museum hold works of art, but the museum and the grounds itself is a work of art. It's on a hill with vistas of the ocean and the city and.... it's just hard to explain, but going there was a completely amazing experience. Ok, so you know what the weird thing about dreams is?? You are in a place that does 't look anything like the place, yet you know you are in the place. Last night I dreamed I was at the DMV (and I got in trouble for something I didn't do and got sent to the back of the line), but it looked like this big old stone cathedral type of place, with arches and stairways. But I knew it was the DMV, even thought it was the complete antithesis of any DMV I have ever been in or seen, And that always happens in dreams. I wonder why that is. Strange.

I have never preferred Ferraris. My knowledge of high-end sports cars is quite limited, but I think I would prefer a Porsche.

I think King Solomon (or someone else, I'm not sure all the Proverbs were written by him, but I could be wrong) wrote about that in the Proverbs. That poverty is bad because it causes one to be dishonest and steal, but great riches were bad too, for some reason, I forget. But being just in the middle is the best. So, I'm reading Machiavelli's "The Prince".... just because. Well, not "just because". From time to time I like to pick up bios on dictators and autocrats and I'm always curious about the whole .... dymanics of power thing. I've been curious about that for a long time. What is it that causes a group of people to be obedient to one person? So, anyhow, it's an interesting book. Pretty short and fairly easy to read.

yeah, some sort of certification is always a good idea. You don't want to be a "shade tree whatever", but I was always raised with the "University Mentality" and how that's the only way to success. Well, maybe in the past, but these days when you've got college grads with loads of student loans working as baristas at Starbucks....

Well, yeah!! And I'm not making any judgements on y'all's kids' college potential or anything, but I look at my DS2 and he really struggles in school. But, he's the one who went out and hustled and made some serious coin selling blueberries and boysenberries door to door. And I'm thinking, "I don't have to push him to college. That's not the ONLY way. He works well with people, we could get him to take a few business classes in a junior college, go to trade schoo, and I think he could do ok."

Well, I went to the Afsa with DD. We now have cool air. You know, I've been thinking.... A person could do pretty well for himself as a serviceman if he was a hard worker and honest and knew what he was doing. The guy who came out has been in business a long time and he has a really good reputation. He charges $85 for just coming out. And I know that's not all profit, and there's a lot that goes in to running your own business, but he knows that as long as it's hotter than he!! here in the Valley and people need AC that works.... He'll be in business. You can't outsource his job to India. I guess I mention that because everyone thinks college is the only way to a good career. But this guy, he raised three daughters and put them through Christian School. He drives a very nice truck. He's grooming his son-in-law to take over the business and this kid does a good job, too.

The AC guy is on the way!! Yayyyyy! We will have to pay his guys over time, since it's Saturday, but I don't care!!

Actually, I'm serious. In California, when we file our Private School Affadavidit every year, we have to list the Principal and the Administrator. So, I decided that since I'm there hands-one every day, I would be the principal. That left DH to be the administrator.

I was thinking of packing the family up and going to the beach tomorrow. It's usually in the 70's there. I don't think DH will go for that, though. He just came home. Can't get the part from the hardware store. 😩😩 He left a message for the AC guy.

The front door is open because DH is trying to cool off the house. Now we are having various and sundry cats wandering in.
