  1. Unless you really need the watch feature... I really, really like my Oura Ring. And it seems to be very accurate and consistent. Bonus is that I can wear it while swimming. The last two times I have been sick, my Oura ring knew before I did. I got alerts that my body temp was elevated. It was a few hours before my regular thermometer picked up that I had a fever. It allowed me to isolate myself before I was really showing symptoms.
  2. Never heard of them. I think it's interesting how FB decides which ads to show us. I get a lot of ads for Pact clothing. So if anyone has any feedback on either brand, I'm listening. 🙂 I'm looking for some warm, nicer looking sweats. Or some comfy, but not sloppy looking athleisure. I'm picky though. I don't like poly/fleece.
  3. I see them for sale on Marketplace sometimes, and it's tempting. The newest Vitamix holds 5L. I might start a sinking fund for one of those. We compost leaves and stuff in the backyard. Right now I toss a lot of my veggie scraps into that pile. I also have a small worm bin on my back porch. The worms are kinda frustrating. All of it is a very slow process. I know the Lomi and Vitamix don't produce a completely finished compost. I was thinking I could add it to my worms and let them finish it off. One of the things that is particularly appealing to me is being able to compost meat scraps and even some small bones. Just seems like it would make really good fertilizer. If you have one, do you like it? I am particularly interested in the quality of the compost compared to manure or other commercial products.
  4. I’m not hyper focused on salt. I’m focusing on all of it. She mentioned the brand of salt I use, so I wanted to know more. As I later commented, I had misunderstood her first comment and thought there was something wrong with Redmond salt. ._______________________________ I’m not as worried about—say—meat vacuumed packed in plastic. I know exactly where 90% of my meat comes from, what the animals have eaten, etc. I’m sure those animals are consuming some nano plastics since it’s in rain, but that’s about the best I can do. I can’t see nano plastics infiltrating a roast in my freezer. I usually rinse the meat before prepping. I don’t drink bottled water/beverages often, but I’m going to start looking for glass and aluminum options as an alternative. The only thing that I do that I worry about is sous vide. If I didn’t have chronic health issues, I probably wouldn’t be as concerned, but that (sous vide) is something I need to reconsider.
  5. I just reread one article, and it said they theorize that some of the nano plastics in bottled water came from the reverse osmosis membrane that filters out contaminants. lol what? I guess RO is still better than no filtration at all. Trading pharmaceuticals and heavy metals for nano plastics…
  6. I am so sorry. That is really a lot. Very stressful. I will pray.
  7. @AngelaGT the video was informative, but it didn't talk about Redmond's specifically. Redmond salt comes from Utah. I'm just going to trust based on the info on their website that it hasn't been exposed to the same contamination as regular sea salt. I think I misunderstood your original comment as saying that you thought Redmond might be contaminated. My mistake. Thanks for sharing the videos!
  8. So I just checked the filter in my newer LG refrigerator. It is NSF42 and NSF43 certified. I am glad, but honestly after looking at the RO filters, those are more affordable in the long run. My LG replacement is over $50 each. Correction: with tax and shipping it's $70! Cheaper on Amazon, but I don't trust Amazon. Too many counterfeits. I am going to go ahead and order another because I am sure this one is more than 6 months old.
  9. Yes. I have been reading a lot about that in light of their lawsuits against the EPA.
  10. That makes sense. That's why I was thinking it would be cost prohibitive. We had a whole house system at our house in San Antonio. I didn't even know "under sink" filters existed.
  11. Thank you for the recommendation! Did you have to install a separate faucet? I'd have to put a hole in my quartz. I'm trying to find one that will work with my current faucet. Does such a thing exist?
  12. Check out Native Habitat Project (Kyle Lybarger), and you won't worry as much about some trees being cut. 😉 My grocery delivery is Kroger. They don't have stores here--just a distribution center for delivery. I wish they would do paper or cardboard boxes.
  13. I do most of those things already, but I do still buy some produce that is bagged in plastic. It's really hard to cut ALL of it out, but I can do better. One thing that has been bothering me is my grocery delivery. It comes in non reusable plastic bags. I wish they would offer an alternative. I plan to contact customer service and see if anything is in the works on that.
  14. What can we do? I just recently read something about all of this elsewhere. I think it was about water quality though--not specifically plastics. And I think the gist of it was that our water filters are inadequate to remove things like nano plastics and the increasing amount of pharmaceuticals in water.
  15. I think I will deconstruct a Luzianne tea bag and weigh the loose tea. We just make 2 quarts at a time.
  16. “All four co-authors interviewed said they were cutting back on their bottled water use after they conduced**** the study.” REALLY???? Just now??? 😡 I mean…I am not innocent. I drink stuff bottled in plastic occasionally because it’s impossible to avoid, but this has been on my radar for a L O N G time. If for no other reason than I’m horrified at all of the plastics going to landfills and worse—the oceans. I guess they were okay with our oceans being polluted until they realized it might be infiltrating their own cells. Good grief. 😕 ****I copy and pasted the quote. That’s their typo lol. That’s some sloppy editing. Now I need to verify all of this before I get too riled up.
  17. Skeptical of this until I verify some stuff, but…. This is why I won’t buy fleece anymore. 😡 I was in Target tonight looking for a sweatshirt. I was sticking my hand up every shirt because I can tell immediately whether it’s a natural fiber or not.. It’s all fleece from plastics. Disgusting. It’s not even comfortable after a few washes! It pills up. Nasty stuff. There’s no escaping it as far as I can tell. Maybe some well water is safer???? But well water has other contaminants. I admit that I didn’t read both articles. Too sleepy atm. I’ll read tomorrow for sure. I wish I could say thanks for sharing, but sometimes I’d rather be oblivious.

    My BIL

My sister had similar experiences years ago. Crowds triggered it. It was related to anxiety/panic disorder. I hope he’s okay now. It’s scary for everyone involved. I’ve experienced it myself—when I was in high school and college, I would sometimes pass out from getting a shot. I learned to head it off before it got to the point of passing out.
  19. Interesting. I’m not familiar with the company, but that’s a very unfortunate turn of events. Not sure where the failure was.
  20. I think I figured out what my garlic needs. It's a hard neck variety, so apparently I am supposed to wait for the scapes to curl. Then top them.
