  1. Its almost 25% cheaper if not more than our current plan. We would have to change all of our doctors though. : ( What is your experience? THanks
  2. Thanks for the link. I love that! I think I will try it. I generally don't pick up after my kids but I am telling them to pick up their things (and the 2 year old's) all day. They think all they do is clean!
  3. My ds 7 also has delt with a fear of animals since he was 9months( we took him to a park with very friendly deer). We just kept exposing him to animals. He is still fearful ofr animals but he is not freaking out as much. We brought a new puppy home yesterday ( a shih tzu) and he has warmed up. Of course it is a very small dog. With repeat exposure he warmed up to the neighbors mid size dog and will even walk her so maybe with some encouragement and repeated exposure your ds will accept the puppy. Then again, you may want to start with smaller dog. I really think addressing the fear head on and exposing him to animals withou forcing him to touch or feed them has helped. Good luck!j
  4. Very good! 74 is the answer. Now I am off to explain to my son who will still stare at me like I'm crazy : ) Thank you!
  5. I haven't learned bar diagramming. We just started Singapore. Here is the problem: The total volume of water in container A and container B is 83L. Container A has 65L more water than container B. what is the volume of water in container A? Thanks for help!
  6. Working it without algebra and bringing it down to his level is the challenging part for me.
  7. wow! I sent my son off to do another subject and worked the problem. It contains so much algebra my 7 year old would never have figured it out! Fortunately I finally did!
  8. or the answer is wrong in the back of the book. I am good in math but this one problem is driving me crazy!
  9. It works! We have had it for a few years now. We never got through the whole 3 months straight, but we use it 2 days a week right now and run the other days. I am glad we bought it. Good luck!
  10. We just started kiss grammer. It's free. So far we like it.
  11. Not every time. We only use cell phones so people think I should have it on me at all times to answer. I hate being available all the time and not a fan of talking on the phone. I conveniently forget it all the time. I do answer my husband's calls though. I love talking to him !
  12. Were your kids able to remember much about fractions by the time it came around again? I will try to devote some time to review each week. But just curious about your experiences.

  14. My understainding is I mainly need the workbook and the answer key with teacher notes and I will be fine. There is a section on the website with extra exercises IF needed for each section. Am I missing anything? THanks
  15. Thank you! I had never heard of those. I will definitely check them out.
  16. OR should I keep it the same? This is our first year HSing. My son is 7. I wouldn't consider him gifted but he is bright. He tells people school is too easy which = boring. He flies through math(singapore), so I am keeping pace with him on that, but I am unsure how to do that for writing and grammer. He hates to write (just slow and laborious for him). We currently use WWE and FLL2. I am ok with the pace because I want him to be solid in writing, but he finds it easy. Is there something I could use to supplement? He loves history is there something that would be an interesting supplement to SOTW? Thank You!
  17. I love reading what everyone uses and tricks fro dealing with curly hair. Do you ever wonder what people did before there was product??!
  18. I use aveda confixor when my hair is wet and then take sections and twist my hair into bigger curls. Sometimes I let it dry naturally and then flip my head and shake out all the big curls or I will use a diffuser and flip my head over. I use frizz ease hairspray. I like the be curly stuff that comes in a small pump (its creamy), but so expensive. Trying to stick with just confixor right now. I think twisting my hair is the key to less frizzies though.
  19. Everyone on here has been so good at provinding me ideas and encouragement as I navigate my first year of HS. So thankful for this board! My 7 year old is complaining that school is too easy. BUT he also complains when we do school. He hates to write and wants to be finished. I don't know what to change if anything! I think he partly is just complaining to complain. He is bright though (I don't think he is gifted), he picks things up quick. Are there curriculums other than math that are more challanging? I don't know what that would even look like. He reads tons of books every week on the subjects we cover. I don't know!! He is driving me crazy. I just want this to be sucessful. MAybe I just need to get tougher skin when it comes to my kids criticism. :001_smile: Any recommendations on challanging curriculum? Thanks!
  20. Thank you for your words. Having confidence in myself and faith in this whole process is something I really need to work on! I did not learn to write well until college (i grew up in ps) and I guess I forget that. Like everyone else, I want to do what's best for my kids and not hinder them.
  21. Most of the time we get things done. My concern is he isn't doing as much as he needs too. I think he did more writing in 1st grade ps than we are doing now. I want to test him at the end of the year. Mainly for my knowledge and sanity.
  22. This is my first year homeschooling my son. He is 7. He is bright and loves reading. He doesn't see a point to school but is willing to do it without too much resistance. My concern is he is not learning enough. The lessons are so short (wwe, fll, sotw). He doesn't want to do any of the extra activities that involve crafty stuff. Which is fine by me. He just wants to get through school as soon as possible. He is giving me the minimum. He hates writing. I feel like we don't write enough. Most of his history narration a we do aloud. I feel like if I put him back in public school, they could keep his attention better. He didn't dislike ps. He just thought some of it was too easy and he wanted to focus on more history and Science. My daughter is in ps kindergarten and loves it. My plan was to keep her home next year but I am second guessing my choice. I have a 2 year old too , so he keeps me busy too. I am just so worried he is not learning enough, especially when it comes to writing and history. Thanks for any insight!
