  1. This recipe serves approximately 8-12 people, so you would need to double it or triple it. Ingredients: 1 pkg. chocolate chip cookies such as Nabisco Chips Ahoy or Keebler Chips Deluxe (For something different, try the coconut or the caramel or the peanut butter kind!) 1 - 1 1/2 cups milk Cool Whip Hershey's syrup, chocolate or caramel (optional) Directions: 1. Crumble one or two cookies and set aside. 2. Dip cookies one at a time in milk and line bottom of 9x13 dish. 3. When the bottom of the dish is covered, spread Cool Whip (approximately 1 inch) on top of cookies. 4. Continue to layer dipped cookies with Cool Whip until dish is filled. 5. Sprinkle crumbled cookies on top, then if desired, drizzle Hershey's syrup on top. 6. Refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
  2. I pronounce it without the 2nd "r", but I have NEVER met anyone else who does. It doesn't bother me either way. But don't get me started on the mispronunciations that DO bother me...
  3. YES!!! :iagree: And for the record, "mischievous" has 3 syllables. The only thing after the "v" is "ous".
  4. I've never researched it myself, but a friend told me she had been reading research that says women who have had root canals have a much, much higher incidence of breast cancer. She did a little researching on her own, and found that most of the women she knew who'd had breast cancer had also had a root canal at some point in the past.
  5. Yeah, but I wish they had waited until after the busiest curriculum-buying time of year!
  6. I hope they get it worked out soon because I have an order to place!
  7. Suddenly, it looks really different and I can't find anything! I searched for an item and finally found it, but when I clicked on it, instead of getting a description and additional views (table of contents and sample pages), I only got a list of products. :glare:
  8. For less than $2, I bought an unused "Guided Reading and Review Workbook" at the thrift store because it looked like it would be good, and I figured I could pick up a cheap used textbook and maybe a TE on eBay or some used book website. Before I order a book, though, I wanted to check here at WTM and see if anyone here has opinions about it. Thanks!
  9. For us, the midday meal is "lunch" and the evening meal is "supper". "Dinner" is a special meal, usually served on a holiday or celebration day, such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, someone's birthday, or Sunday after church. Lunch is usually lighter than supper; lunch would be something quick to fix: sandwiches, hot dogs, nachos, etc.., while supper would involve more preparation and might even include a dessert. Dinner would be a lot like supper, but much more elaborate, and usually includes fancier foods that we don't get very often. Here in the Deep South, most people refer to meals this way, except people who have transplanted from elsewhere (they usually say "lunch & dinner") and older people, including my mom (they usually say "dinner & supper").
  10. I bought a netbook in January, and I absolutely LOVE it. The main reason I chose it is that I wanted a keyboard. I did a LOT of research and wound up paying $404 (eBay) for the Acer Aspire 1551-4755: Product Features 11.6-inch LED-backlit widescreen display with 1366 x 768-pixel resolution (native 720p for high-definition viewing) 1.3 GHz AMD Athlon II Neo dual-core processor K325 (2 MB L2 cache) 250 GB SATA hard drive (5400 RPM) 3 GB of installed DDR3 RAM (1066 MHz; expandable to 4 GB) ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics card Multi-Gesture Touchpad Built-in webcam and microphone Built-in stereo speakers with Dolby Sound Room Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking capability Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000) Multi-in-1 Digital Media Card Reader compatible with Secure Digital (SD), MultiMediaCard (MMC), Memory Stick (MS), Memory Stick PRO (MS PRO), xD-Picture Card (xD) Three USB 2.0 ports HDMI high-definition audio/video output and also includes a standard VGA video output Windows 7 Home Premium Pre-loaded software includes Microsoft Works SE 9.0 6-cell battery (5 hour battery life) Dimensions: 11.2 x 8.0 x 1.1 inches (WxDxH) Weight: 3.1 pounds Because of its size, the Aspire AS1551 doesn't include a DVD drive, but you can connect an optional optical drive to the laptop via one of the USB ports. We've also used an HDMI cable (purchased separately) to stream Netflix to our HD television.
  11. Try TimesUpKidz. For $29.95, you can download the program, which allows you to customize a schedule for computer usage.
  12. I go back and forth between the two extremes. Charting does help me keep track of it. I've always done that, though. For YEARS, I've marked an X on the calendar on the day my period started, and I still do. I'll have no period for 2 months, and then a period every 2 weeks for 2 months, then back to none for 2 months, and so on.
  13. My dh, a pastor, highly recommends the Holman Christian Standard Bible. There is a list of key verses that he always checks when he is evaluating a new translation. He feels that the HCSB does the best job of conveying the meaning of those verses.
  14. 2500 sq.ft. / 2 kids (1 in college & not here most of the time)
  15. I think she's either a kook or a scammer.
  16. 31,900 or 75th percentile :001_smile:
  17. YES! I completely understand, and I feel EXACTLY the same way. It's like I'm at work 24/7. The only time I can completely relax is if the house is entirely clean and the laundry is all done, and there are no lessons to prepare for/grade--which is to say, almost never. If you come up with something that works, I'm listening.
