  1. Re: the colonoscopy, because it seems like an odd thing. I rescheduled the first time when my co-worker was diagnosed with cancer. I just told them my coworker was ill. I got an uh huh. I just feel like if I reschedule because I'm sick they'll not believe me again. It is such a dumb stress. My co-worker has bigger stress. I think it is just because it is night and I'm losing my first dog as an adult. We got him 7 years ago as a rescue. Love this boy
  2. **My sweet boy passed around 10:30pm. I took him outside and we sat on a blanket, it was good to be able to hold him. I know everything else will be fine. Thanks for the hugs ❤️** Holding a dog that is about to pass. I'm running a fever. I have a colonoscopy on Monday which I've already rescheduled once. They'll never believe me a second time. Supposed to be helping my daughter move into her dorm tomorrow. Have some events coming up that stress me out every year. Work is busy and one person is already on vacation. Another is starting radiation. I know in the grand scheme of things everything will be fine. Just tired... I probably should have taken the dog to the vet this morning to be put down, but it is always such an agonizing decision. We adopt senior pets so it isn't an uncommon decision. Kelly
  3. Yes, I do get red in the shower, but I am also steaming when I get out. I have set the smoke alarms off with my showers 😏
  4. Doesn't sound bonkers to me... I get it, but I have no useful information for you.
  5. It is between Preschool and Kindergarten. Not sure why it is called Early Kindergarten since they still have to go through Kindergarten. I am told by parents of kids who went through it that it is essentially a year of Kindergarten with a much smaller class. But, like I said, they still have to go through Kindergarten after EK. It didn't make a lot of sense to me.
  6. Personally, I say leave the books alone and get rid of the Chromebooks. The books the law makers have deemed sexually inappropriate are less harmful than what the kids are finding on their computers and phones. Unfortunately, it is easier to go for the books and think they are actually making a difference. Pat themselves on the back for their efforts... I'm seriously unhappy with my state government right now.
  7. Around here it mostly had to do with 2 things. 1. Boys with a spring or summer birthday were often held back at the recommendation of teachers. My middle kid would have been in EK instead of kindergarten if we had done public school right away. He would have been 19 when he graduated. 2. Parents sending kids to EK due to smaller class sizes. They still had to do kindergarten the next year though. So they did Pre-K, EK, and then K. We did also have some parents keeping their kids out to give them a leg up in sports. Luckily, that wasn't super common.
  8. Yes, I agree that keeping kids past 18 is an issue. We have a lot of 19 year olds graduating in our district, or we did. I have been told that fewer kids are doing EK than 10-15 years ago.
  9. I think I am being accurate. Eighteen and nineteen year olds are adults. Yes, they are also students. It would be more accurate to say that they are being told what they CANNOT read from the school library. I still think it stinks. Yes, they can get a public library account and come in at 3:01pm and check out whatever they want. Personally, I think this is going to backfire on the lawmakers. They are just making show of "protecting children". These kids are going to go straight to the section of books we removed and check them out. We are making it easier to find the inappropriate content. So, actually, it doesn't stink. I think it is funny. We might as well label those shelves "Inappropriate Content". Love it!
  10. I work in a public/school library, I think we are one of four in our state. We are right now moving books around so kids can't check out books that our legislature has deemed "inappropriate". It's a bit of a mess right now. We serve grades 6-8 as a school library. I feel really bad for the high school librarian. She has kids who are 18/19 who aren't allowed to read certain books because this law pertains to k-12. We are telling adults what they can read. It boggles my mind. Every kid in our school system gets a Chromebook. I know kids are into way scarier stuff on those. They have blocking software which the kids get around quickly. My own kids told me how they did it.
  11. No, it isn't a great thing and I really liked these neighbors. Depending on why they were evicted I'm not sure I blame them for leaving stuff for the landlord to clean up. Of course, I don't know the circumstances. It seems like they have only lived there for a year so this feels really fast for an eviction. We've only had two neighbors there that I was glad left.
  12. Update: The neighbors were back yesterday and I talked with them. They were getting evicted, but it wasn't supposed to happen until Aug. 3rd. Apparently, they brought the order (for Aug. 3) and the Sheriff and evicted them early. The Sheriff did not read the order if he let them do it last week. Personally, I'm glad the landlord had to clean up the sh*t ton of crap, not a fan of this landlord. When I found out who owned the house, he bought it last year, my dh and I were both unhappy. This guy owns a business 10 miles north of us that is a complete eye sore, I can't imagine his rentals are any better. Fortunately, the neighbors were able to find a house about 30 minutes away and seem really happy about it. My original post was not supposed to imply anything bad about the renters. I don't want to own rental property because 1. I wouldn't want to evict people. I would be awful! and 2. It just seems like a huge hassle to have rental property. People often call it passive income, and I have no idea how that is. There is so much to do. I've had to help a couple of kids find rentals recently in Illinois and Texas. It is absolutely insane what some places charge. The ones that don't charge an arm and a leg are absolutely unfit to live in. I get the frustration, and I don't know the answer. The town I live in is actually pretty good when it comes to apartment prices. House rentals are more expensive. I did find out what the house next door is renting for, and I'm surprised they can get that much with the condition it is in. Yes, it is 1500 square ft, but not worth the $1500 they are asking each month. Although, if they financed the whole thing then $1500 might be what they have to ask to cover the mortgage. I'm shocked at how much they paid for that house. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The house next to us is a rental. We've had some good neighbors and some bad. The ones who got evicted yesterday were actually really nice. We didn't socialize much, and I could tell they had a lot going on, but they were good neighbors. I feel bad, although they left a sh*t ton of crap in the front yard for the landlord to clean up. No real reason that I'm posting this except that now we will get new neighbors. I find the apartments on the street are less hassle than the rental next door. My dh asked several years ago if I wanted to buy a rental property. My answer was no, nope, no way. Not something I would want to deal with.
  13. I love the act of falling asleep and floating into dreams. My husband and kids have never understood my love of falling asleep. In fact, not sure I've ever met anyone who has understood it. Kelly
  14. I haven't ever written them down. I can remember dreams so well that I still remember dreams from when I was a child. They are just so real in the moment that I can't forget them. I also daydream a lot. I am always in a dream world it seems, always have been since I was a child. I am definitely an extrovert, but could always entertain myself when no friends were around. Kelly
  15. Yes, irrational dreams seem so plausible at the time. I LOVE weird dreams. I dream so much and it is why I love to sleep. M Sometimes I just stay in bed late to go over my dreams because they are so interesting and weird.
  16. I am messing around with everyone in my dreams 🤣 Some people that I wouldn't mind messing around with, and some "WTF is going on in my brain" people. People either think my dreams are the best thing ever, or think I'm damaged in some way. Kelly
  17. Just saw it today and I LOVED IT! I would go again it was so good. I laughed so much! Snort laughed a lot too. Kelly
  18. I would love it if we have such good luck with the Corolla that we will only buy new black Corollas in the future. I can totally get on board with that plan 🙂
  19. The back up camera comes standard in the Corolla as does bluetooth. We rented a car that had the cruise and the lane assist work together. I took me a long time to figure out how to operate the cruise separately from the lane assist. Kelly
  20. I figured out Prime Day Deals were suspect last year. I love the Tozo 10 earbuds and have bought a few pairs for me and family. I always pay around $26 for them. Last year on Prime Day I looked to see if they were on sale. They were, but for the price I had been paying. It looks like this year they are going for $19. Kelly
  21. Oh my gosh, yes! I was going to say this same thing! I have a friend who has a very clean house, and always apologizes for "the mess" when I come over. I won't invite her into my house because I am so paranoid about what she will think.
  22. We've never bought new before, but for the price we wanted to pay, we really had to buy new. Used car prices were more than the new car price.
  23. We decided on a 23 Toyota Corolla. We drove a 2020 today and then ordered the 23 no frills version. Honestly, the 2020 was no frills also and $7000 more. Crazy! We'll hopefully see it within 3 months. Kelly
  24. I kind of wish there was a way to be able to crank the windows open if the power windows weren't working. I have irrational fears about car windows and doors not working if I drive into a body of water. I am really landlocked in Central Iowa so this is a very irrational fear 😁
  25. I think we found what we are looking for. We'll go test drive tomorrow. I'm hoping we can drive it for the next 20 years!
