  1. I hate this one. People say it all the time to me since my youngest is graduating from high school this year. I reply, "Yep, and I wouldn't want to repeat any of it. I love my kids, but I also love my quiet house". Kelly
  2. Faith Over Fear - So many people at church wore these shirts during Covid, yet these are the same people who think every Muslim they see is going to kill them on the spot. Teachers aren't in it for the money, but the lives they change (or some variation of this 🐂 💩) I always feel like this perpetuates the idea that teachers shouldn't be paid well. God gives kids with *insert disability* to parents he knows can handle the stress or who are the strongest (the wording is probably off, you get the meaning) I hate all inspirational sayings. I much prefer a good sarcastic remark... Kelly
  3. Homemade pop tarts are my one and done also. They are very good, but way too time consuming. Kelly
  4. I've never had either but I have been to homes with them. Here are my thoughts for what they are worth. The built in soap dispensers never seem to have soap in them, and there is always hand soap on the counter. Not sure if it gets tedious changing them out from underneath the cabinet or if is difficult to find replacements. Built in sprayer faucets look cool but always seem to not go in correctly after awhile. Maybe everyone I know got cheap faucets?
  5. I started watching it and hated it, but... I decided to finish watching it as a comedy. Honestly, the youngest sister was great. Yes, Anne's personality was completely changed, but I was able to get past it. I didn't like the actor that played Wentworth. He looked like he had to sneeze through most of the movie. Not my favorite, but it was entertaining. I didn't feel like I lost 2 hours of my life 😊 Kelly
  6. Wow, thanks everyone! I learned a lot. I'll talk to her about everyone's advice. Kelly
  7. She doesn't wear them when she is alone in her apartment, but she has had hearing aids for quite some time. Hmmm, interesting thought. Maybe I'll make sure she wears them even if she doesn't thinks she needs them in.
  8. These might be dumb questions, I really don't know much about the topic and haven't gotten good Google results. I'm trying to help my mom. She just got new hearing aids within the last 2 years. She went through Costco. They haven't been working the greatest. I think she has gone back there, but didn't get a lot of assistance. Here is my first question. If you only have 30% of your hearing capacity in one of your ears due to an accident, will a hearing aid really be able to help? Second question, will going to an independent audiologist be more helpful than going back to Costco? Thanks! Kelly
  9. Here is my favorite picture from the night. I love how happy she looks.
  10. I'm not sure what material she used. She did design it and I love her talent. I showed her how to use a sewing machine years ago and she took off. I don't think about how our house looks until I take pictures and then I see the pet beds and blankets, cats sleeping everywhere, a dog running through, cat trees, dog toys... I love it, but know a lot of people probably wonder about me 😁
  11. I think she is going to wear it both ways. She likes taking the sleeves off with flare 😁
  12. My daughter finished her prom dress. She even made detachable sleeves. The color is so pretty! Don't mind my messy, pet infested house 😁
  13. Have your eyes changed or do you just need new prescriptions for new eye wear? I was able to get a new prescription for my daughter from her eye doctor to get her to her next appointment. Her eyes hadn't really changed though. Have you checked with your eye doctor? Kelly
  14. Thanks for all of the replies! I decided to sneak off to Theisen's and tried on a couple pairs of snow pants. Found a great pair that will layer over jeans. I have 2 jobs and I didn't want to have to change after walking to each one so I liked the idea of pants to wear over my jeans. We'll see if I'm cursing myself for my stubbornness around mid-January when I'm walking to work in sub-zero temps at 5:30am. Kelly
  15. We are down a car and I refuse to buys a car while prices are stupid high. Eventually, if they stay there we will but not yet. I'm stubborn. I need to figure out what to wear over my pants when I walk to work. I remember dressing the kids in snow pants that went over their jeans when they were young, but everything I am finding now look too fitted. Most say you can't wear jeans under them. I'm not going skiing, just need to walk to work. I have cuddle duds on under my jeans today, and I'm sweltering inside. I need something that I can remove when I get to work. I don't want to buy the wrong thing. My dh doesn't want us in stores right now so I can't try anything on. Kelly
  16. My mom has moved to the town I live in. It is a small town that is sandwiched in-between 2 larger towns. I'm trying to find someone to drive her to an exercise class 3 days a week and then shopping on those same days. I just can't figure out where to find this service. It wouldn't be Uber/Lyft because I want the same person each time and they would need to stay around where she is to take her back home. When I do find someone, how would you go about figuring out what to pay them? Mileage, time, and gas? The exercise class in really close to where she lives, but she can't walk it easily and not in cold weather. That lasts for 45 minutes. It is Ina building with the library. There is also a coffee shop close by. The city north of us is 10 minutes away. I'd guess she would shop for an hour. The person driving her won't need to go in the store with her, but would need to be ready when she is. The driver could go get coffee or read a book? Would these be reasonable? Thanks! Kelly
  17. I know we’ve discussed small talk on here before, and there are many who don’t like it and get irritated by it. I know I’ve made this comment before, but something happened recently that has brought it to my mind again. One of my jobs is in a small coffee shop. I found out today that a customer passed away last month. I saw him, maybe once a month, sometimes less. But, we always had a short chit chat while he waited at the drive thru window. Not much, maybe about the weather, his grandkids, my son in the Army. But, he always had a smile and a kind word, even if we only talked for 30 seconds. I always felt happier after short exchanges, and I had no idea I would be this broken up. Good think it is a cool, rainy day so it is slow. Anyway, I just want to say that you never know the impact you can have with a smile and a few words. Kelly
  18. I hope she does too. She is pregnant also, so I really hope it is a mild case 😞
  19. I'll be honest, the only reason I'm concerned is because I have a friend who will be at a book club with me on Thursday, and she will be upset if I don't do it. And, I work retail so I should probably not take chances with our customers. If I could quarantine I'd just stay at home and not do it. I really don't like things up my nose. I'll wait on the flu shot until next week. Kelly
  20. I have a co-worker who was diagnosed with Covid last Thursday. I could tell she was coming down with something on Tuesday. I have no symptoms and am vaccinated. I was planning on getting a flu shot today, but wonder if I should do a Covid test instead. I have about 15 minutes of contact with her each day. And, the test is self administered. How far up do I need to get the swab, I'm afraid I won't get it in far enough to be accurate. ETA: We don't mask at work. Kelly
  21. When I was a kid I though bay leaves were poisonous. My mom would get freaked out if she couldn't find the bay leaves in the stew to get them out. I always wondered why she would season stew with poisonous leaves. She made a delicious stew so I always ate it anyway 😁
  22. We had something similar. The back was pharmacy, on the side wall was a soda fountain with ice cream and sandwiches, the middle was like a Hallmark store.
  23. Homecoming in my hometown and our current town are similar. Boys were anything from jeans to to dress pants and a collared shirt with tie. Girls were anything from jeans to a dress. The town north of us has a more formal homecoming with the girls in formal dresses and the boys in suits (not tuxes). Personally, I love the more informal HC. Formals are so expensive, give them a less expensive dance. My son did wear jeans to prom last year, and he wasn't the only one.
  24. I'd love to see the TX State Fair.
  25. There is definitely a huge agricultural component. There is also so much more. Several concerts every night, I know Blake Shelton was on of them. A huge carnival, displays and projects on every subject. It is fun, but so crowded and hot that we don't go every year.
