  1. Things change from year-to-year, too. I know that some universities are requiring more testing and documentation of homeschoolers, some just aren't receptive to homeschoolers at all even though they say they are.
  2.:lol::lol: I'll require a mandatory implanted birth control please, just in case. ;)
  3. I agree. I so want my kids to go to college. I am pro-college, but the costs and the tuition hikes are ridiculous. University of Washington just had a tuition hike of 22% - and some of that is money that will go towards scholarships. So some kids will be going into debt to help subsidize other kids' educations. It's just not right.
  4. Maybe we can arrange some platonic marriages. Seriously, if the kids are supposed to be adults in all areas except financial then they aren't really adults. This university logic irks me.
  5. Looks like the easiest thing to do is get married. :tongue_smilie:
  6. But it's cool you have a business on the side! That in and of itself teaches your girls so much. My oldest dd wants to be a nurse and put her kids in private school since I won't homeschool them for free. LOL Heck, I didn't even plan on having kids. I really want my dd to have something to fall back on. I suspect she may change her mind a little once the babies are actually here. I really just want my kids to keep learning and as long as the debt is not crushing I would encourage them. Have a great night.
  7. Do you mind me asking, what is your degree? I see you have a business on the side. :001_smile:
  8. Yep, I don't think people understand how much homes cost in our area.
  9. But you know homeschool mommies need a good education. Barring debt, it is an excellent career move. :D
  10. You are always so nice, and I've never seen you in a controversial thread. I vote that it was just a random troll wandering the internet spreading misery.
  11. I wonder if it because of where we live. I can see maybe being in the Bible belt would be hard to have differing beliefs. I don't know.
  12. Oh, well, I just smile and nod. My dh and all his family is YE. Homeschoolers are notoriously opinionated, and they like to share their opinion. Do you have people trying to debate with you. I don't debate in real life. It's just not my thing.
  13. I just don't make it an issue. We don't have to agree on everything do we?
  14. Hmmm, the first sign my dd's have is underarm hair. She's pretty light you may have more time.
  15. How tall is she? How much does she weigh? My oldest was a chunky baby, toddler and kid. She is now a perfect weight. She started at 11 1/2.
  16. I deleted it. I wouldn't worry about verb issues. This is a message board.
  17. He's had lots of evaluation. Meds have helped immensely. He's actually doing really well now, but that is because I know what he needs and we go over things until they are mastered. He would sink in ps. I don't know what his future will be. I think he'll do well in college, but may need extra time to mature. He is so very gifted musically. I worry too much I'm sure.
  18. That is hard. My adhd w/LDs ds is gifted, too. I wonder how he will ever get into a good college since he is such an outside of the box thinker (colleges claim they like that but from what I've observed they do not). He wavers between college and another route as he wants to be a professional musician.
  19. I agree. Unless one is independently wealthy, the return to investment has to be considered. There are people spending $100,000 + majoring in Ceramics. I don't see the value. I guess they do, but I don't want to hear any whining when they can't afford to eat out due to paying off that debt.
  20. It's not happening here. I want all my kids to go to college. It is important to me, but it's their life. I will probably have one that doesn't go to college right out of the gate. We all have our paths.
  21. “So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.†– 2 Corinthians 9:7 (New King James Version) We tithe what we feel is right to our church and give to other groups or people (my favorite) as we are called.
