  1. Someone (I think Katie from Arabia) posted the chapters in HO that correspond to SOTW1. We used that this year and loved it! Has anyone done the same for SOTW2?
  2. Haha! I finally found it! http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/348864-my-evaluation-of-numerous-writing-curricula/page__hl__writing%20program#
  3. Haha! I finally found it! http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/348864-my-evaluation-of-numerous-writing-curricula/page__hl__writing%20program#
  4. I remember at the end of last summer, someone posted a most thorough comparison of writing programs available. She's purchased and worked her way through a ridiculous number of programs, and wrote comparative review of all of them. I can't find that thread for the life of me. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!
  5. Let her go! I would much rather see teenagers trick or treating than a lot of other favorite teenage past times. I'm happy to pay a candy tax to have big kids engage in wholesome activities.
  6. I'd say Bitty Twins, too. When my youngest was that age, she just wanted one, so I found another family wanting one to split the package with. Sometimes you can get really lucky and find matching outfits for your DD and her doll in the sale section. They've discontinued their line of Hopscotch Hill dolls, but they've got great corresponding books and I've been able to find them on EBay....
  7. http://www.xtramath.org It's free and only takes about 5 minutes/day. I've used it with both of mine and it worked beautifully!
  8. I would hold off - better safe than sorry. I'm sure your friend would love to turn back time and avoid this herself if she could. Public places are one thing, but in a house full of carpets and upholstery - no.
  9. We're using Writing With Skill, but never used WWE. What does Topos refer to?
  10. Our family vacation this past summer was to Mesa Verde/Durango/Grand Canyon and it was such a wonderful trip. Everyone loved the National Park experience, so I was trying to plan out a Yellowstone vacation for next summer. I'm surprised to see that so much of it is already booked up. So - experienced Yellowstoners - how much does it matter where we stay? We wanted 2 nights in each of the Old Faithful Inn, Lake cabins, Roosevelt cabins, and Mammoth cabins. Not happening. Would you book whatever you could get or wait til the following summer?
  11. I think I'm such a whopping dork, that the dorkiness of each state would be the appeal. I miss Wisconsin for it's cheese hats, bratwurst and camping. Cool place to grow up. I miss Australia for its chill attitude, chicken flavored french fries, and killer beaches. I miss NY for the hiking, apple picking and the city. And I love Texas for the bravado (I still want a Texas shaped waffle maker), BBQ and manicured subdivisions. I've never wanted to move, but each change has been fun! :)
  12. Awesome! We've got some Gaffigan videos. I bet the kids would love him! We took them with us to see Brian Regan and they adored him and were so inspired afterwards! :)
  13. I would LOVE to see that recipe! Sounds intriguing!
  14. Home raised chicken? Seriously?! I wanna eat at your house! :001_smile:
  15. We're having tilapia with pineapples, black beans and rice because our map work's on Costa Rica this week. We're going to watch The Blue Butterfly with it. I hope it's good! :) http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ingrid-hoffmann/baked-costa-rican-style-tilapia-with-pineapples-black-beans-and-rice-recipe/index.html The rest of the week will be a bit more boring: Wednesday - Herbed greens with apples, celery, chicken, cheddar, pecans and an apple vinaigrette Thursday - Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and salted buttery peas. Mmmm. Friday - Crock pot cream cheese chicken chili with chips.
  16. Jalapeno poppers. I can eat my own weight of those things. Mmmmm. Not good for preserving my dignity at a party, though...
  17. Haha! I'd cry, laughing! My first response was that it sounds like a really bad SNL skit! :) G-Ross!
  18. Ooh, Perception looks good. I hadn't heard of that before. Revolution is great if you liked Terra Nova, Lost or the Hunger Games - exciting survival drama. :)
  19. I see that Warehouse 13's on the SyFy channel. Is it really scary?
  20. I love that show, too, Katherine! We watch Once Upon a Time with the kids! :) That's a real popcorn show.
