This week I sewed some nursing pads with fabric that I dyed. nursingpads by plath, on Flickr I'm also knitting a pair of longies (pants that are also a cloth diaper cover) for the baby on the way from yarn that I spun. I am so unmotivated to knit lately though so they are taking forever...
  8. We do it because it's an easy introduction to numbers and my dd loves it. We've had the calendar on our wall for a few years now and we put up our weekly activities so she gets a visual. It also helps because my dh travels for work frequently and we have a special card to put up when he leaves and returns.

  18. This is my pad Thai recipe: Pad Thai 2 pouches rice noodles (I buy the precooked kind) 3 tablespoons fish sauce 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice 1 tablespoons soy sauce 2 tablespoon(s) packed brown sugar 3 tablespoons peanut oil 2 teaspoons ground ancho chile powder 3 large eggs, lightly beaten 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped 1 large red bell pepper, sliced thin sugar snap peas 1/4 cup unsalted roasted peanuts, finely chopped 1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro 2 green onions, thinly sliced 1 lime, cut into wedges (optional) Instructions In a small bowl, stir together fish sauce, lime juice, soy sauce, brown sugar , 2 tablespoons peanut oil, ancho chile powder. Heat the remaining oil in a wok or a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add eggs and cook, stirring, until set, about 30 seconds. Remove eggs to a plate. Return pan to stove and increase heat to high. If needed add a tablespoon more of oil. When the pan is hot add the red bell pepper and stir fry for 3-4 minutes, add the sugar snap peas and garlic stir-fry a few seconds. Add noodles and toss well with ingredients in the pan. Stir-fry 1 minute. L. Add fish-sauce mixture to the pan, tossing to combine with noodles. Add half of the peanuts, and eggs. Stir to combine, and transfer to a serving dish. Sprinkle
  19. Usually it's the stuff the kids love that gets made *every* week: spaghetti or penne with meat sauce, burritos/nachos, homemade pizza. At least twice a month if not weekly. Always in the big rotation: goulash, some kind of soup, jalapeno roast, pad thai, mexican stuffed shells, baked egg rolls.

  22. I've been stocking up slowly at Meijer. Bottles of glue for .50, 5 pack of glue sticks for $1, composition books for .50, spiral notebooks for .19, crayola crayons for .50 and colored pencils and markers for $1. Their price drop sales run until September.
  23. Labs are known for allergy issues. We feed our lab Earthborn Holistic coastal catch. It's grain free. Every other food we tried, our lab had skin and stomach issues. It is expensive, but it is worth not having to clean up dog vomit. YUCK! I totally agree on the smell issue, too. When our dog had food with corn, she always smelled like corn chips. It was weird.
