  1. Classical House of Learning Literature http://www.classicalhouseoflearning.com/.
  2. I blog at Water on the Floor. My blog is mostly about homeschooling, healthy eating, and my daily life with my wonderful husband, 4 energetic children, and 1 crazy dog! I try to post free school resources I put together and lately I have been starting to do more reviews. I just started my first giveaway today:)
  3. I have a giveaway on my blog for a free ticket to the Old SchoolHouse Expo! Nothing like going to an expo without even having to leave your house:) There are going to be some great speakers there! http://wateronthefloor.wordpress.com/2013/07/30/win-a-free-ticket-to-the-old-schoolhouse-expo/
  4. Here is our wordless: Making the Old Look New. I figured if I was already crazy busy redoing the kitchen then I may as well refinish some furniture. I mean, who needs to sleep anyway:) And with the kitchen remodel going on I wrote a little bit about how we survived with a stove.
  5. Check out Maximum Math by Kathryn Stout...it sounds like what you might be looking for:)
  6. Here is our wordless: It's Blueberry Picking Time! I did manage to get one worded in this week: Our 2013-2014 Literature Selections. Heather, those color activities looked like so much fun...what a cool idea to swap activities!
  7. Yes it does. It is all in the back of the book and is broken down into the appropriate age level:)
  8. Here is my wordless: Tractor Fun! No worded this week, I am having a tough time finding time to blog since we are in the midst of a kitchen renovation:) Heather, I hope the barbeque lifted your spirits! I know it was hard to live across the country from family, I can't imagine living across the world! You are a stronger woman that I am! :grouphug:
  9. Keep in mind that the memory work in Living Memory will last years and years! If you sign up for email updates through Lulu they occasionally send coupons (I think about 20% off). I bought the PDF and I am so happy with it. I can print off our memory work for the whole year and keep it in my binder. Here is what my 2nd grader is working on (our new year technically started in January:)) http://wateronthefloor.wordpress.com/current-read-alouds-memory-work/. We are also working on poems from "Favorite Poems Old and New".
  10. She is not in every episode, but she is in a few. And yes, she is quite annoying!
  11. Our wordless: Up, Up, and Away, and our worded: Our Top Ten Resources for Homeschooling. Heather, I feel your pain about the military. When my husband was in he worked like crazy, sometimes 18 hour days when they were training for deployment! So even when he gets a lot of overtime as a police officer now, we can always look back and say at least he doesn't still have his military schedule:)
  12. I have two that are officially schooling: dd7 and ds9. If they work diligently they can usually get everything except their 30 minutes of reading in about 3 hours at the most. But I do combine them in things like history, science, and Latin.
  13. Here is my wordless "Toddler Tough Mudder" http://wateronthefloor.wordpress.com/2013/06/26/wordless-wednesday-toddler-tough-mudder/. And my word-filled "Mint Chocolate Swirl Ice Cream" http://wateronthefloor.wordpress.com/2013/06/25/tasty-tuesday-mint-chocolate-swirl-ice-cream/. I also having coming soon my 10 favorite resources for homeschooling:)
  14. :iagree: Your children will let you know if they have already read the book (they have amazing memories!). Sometimes though it is a book they enjoyed and want to read again, and to me, that is just fine:)
  15. I try to keep in mind the interests of my dc as I am choosing their list (do they like animals? History? Science? Etc.). I love, love, love Medieval mom's book list http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/345347-medival-moms-book-list-in-pdf/. But I also do search the other catalogs to see what they have on their lists (Ambleside online has a nice list). There are also a few other lists online I check. http://charlottemasonhome.com/2007/05/30/literature-by-grade/ http://www.classical-homeschooling.org/celoop/1000.html http://www.greatbooksacademy.org/curriculum/good-books-list/ Usually the ones I see repeated on several lists I try to use since I know they will be good:)
  16. This looks really cute and I will probably use it for next year. It should work well for your ages. FWIW, I plan to take a break for American history after SOTW 2. http://onemagnificentobsession.blogspot.com/2013/05/us-history-for-grammar-stage.html
  17. Great idea! I just may join in sometime soon:)
  18. Better World Books is having a flash sale today- and extra 40% off of 5+ books with a "sale" tag on it. No code or anything, you just add the sale books to your cart and the discount will come off. www.betterworldbooks.com.
  19. This is where we get a lot of our used books. If you sign up for their emails they occasionally have extra sales that can be anywhere from an extra 25-40% off if you buy several books (I think it is usually 4+ books to get the discount).
  20. I think I am going to try getting all of our assignments into the Homeschool Helper app. I have had it for a while, but just never used it. I am also debating doing all of my printing over the summer (things like workbook pages, math pages, handwriting pages, etc.).
  21. We have a Vitamix and love, love, love it! I make things like green smoothies (which turn out very smooth and not gritty), grain free recipes made with almond flour (I can use whole almonds instead of buying almond flour), peanut or almond butter, cashew milk, and so much more! I have saved so much money using it since I can prepare things at home instead of buying them.
  22. What about this recipe http://www.nourishingmeals.com/2010/09/raw-caramel-dip-for-apples.html? We have used it before and it is really good!
  23. I have a few more. For language arts if you could print them off at the beginning of the year you could use these http://www.mhschool.com/reading/treasure_workbooks/national.html. If that is too much to print my other suggestions would be the Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation (it has quizzes in it as well as thorough explanations and samples), and for spelling (if you still need it) either the 4th edition of Writing Road to Reading or Natural Speller. All of these can be used for multiple grades and are cheap to purchase used.
