  1. I was never a fangirl.. I did really adore Sean Connery and he was OLD when I did. I graduated high school in 2000 and everyone thought I was a weirdo. Hahaha
  2. 1500 sq ft for our family of six works okay for us. We declutter frequently. I'd adore a larger kitchen and a separate family room but we've made do with tvs in bedrooms, homeschooling in dining. Occasionally we may have a bathroom emergency situation but we are good 99% of the time. We've considered moving and some days I daydream of a farm house but it isn't needed space. Just a want.
  3. :( I am so sorry. I know those words are inadequate. Your family will remain in our prayers.
  4. Well, after attending a court day for animal control cases after my cat was injured in an incident, I would be so hesitant to call animal control first thing. I would feel horrible causing a 1,000 dollar plus fine (for our area) plus any other fines they would have to pay. Our area takes animal control very seriously and there were actually people that spent the night in jail for failing to appear in court over their pet. I would have to speak to the neighbor about it first. I would probably talk to them THREE or more times about it before I was comfortable about calling animal control. I would document each time, date and issue of the dog. I would attempt to catch proof such as a picture proving it their pet.
  5. The paper is super old. Atleast 20 years. It was gifted to me by a retired teacher. It says safe for copy and laser. I think it was just the fact it was old.
  6. Yep, I decided against getting non name toner and bought Brother toner today. I was happily printing away all my pdfs after putting in my new toner. I had been gifted a ton of various colored papers. So, to save my white paper, I decided each pdf book I printed could be a different color. The first two books went without a hitch. The papers worked beautifully. My third book, printed on NEON orange paper killed my machine :( The color of the paper has come off on the inner workings of the the printer. Now everything has black chunkies and a nice orange shade to it as it prints. I am so upset and I can't quite find the right how to video. I assume it is the fuser roller I am seeking to clean. The drum is spotless. Paper pickup roller is spotless too.
  7. We are using a ton of scm this year. I was trying to avoid buying the portfolios and save a few bucks but may have to resort to it. I found a book for Mozart and will use online music selections for it. Just need an artist and beautiful pictures to enjoy. I always see calendars with photos. Of course now that I want one of those I am struggling to find one.
  8. Do you have a fun living book recommendation for these two topics. We are going to do a Composer study and an Artist picture study this year. I am finding my own resources for the music and pieces of Art but would love a resource of fun, short living books to go along with our studies. Any recommendations?
  9. hahahahhahahahahah  don't count on it
  10. We are using Simply Charlotte Mason's lesson plans for that history period this year.
  11. My son had his foot ran over because he is so impulsive and quick moving. He decided last minute to jump out of the car right before the driver started to go. He said he had water dripping down his neck from swimming and had thought he better shake his hair out. So, the driver ran over his foot not realizing he had jumped out. No broken bones thankfully.
  12. Haha! Oh no! I'd just let him ride it out at encampment. I stopped fussing over ds' bdus too. It's hard to not comment. It does seem like they lose their brain some days. My DS chickened out of encampment this year but he was just promoted out of preflight and didn't have the extra uniform pieces required! Hope your son has a great time!
  13. I once upon a time tried non name brand inkjet printer ink and killed our printer. It clogged the printer heads and it was cheaper to buy a new printer than repair it. Now, I have a new brother laser. I can't afford to replace it so I am skeptical about trying non-brother brand toner. Do you buy non named brand toner and like it just the same? Any brands to recommend or avoid? I would love to save some money here but really nervous about it :p
  14. We deal with some of those same issues. It can be exhausting. What has helped me was this: Bible, History, Literature all combined first thing. Like a Morning basket approach. Family lessons first. Then, I start my independent kids, see if they need help with their assignments and move on to my time sucker. While he's waiting on me to be ready to tackle math he can be doing his chores, typing, snack or reading. I then set his timer for an hour, bave him start his Math. When the hour is up, no matter where he is in his lesson, he puts it away and has lunch or snack. He then gets pool time, or something active. We then tackle the next dreaded subject Grammar. Timer set to 30 minutes after I go over the lesson on the whiteboard. He works mostly independently. I just try to be present in same room or he disappears or starts distractions for others.
  15. I was being sarcastic. but I agree: an annoying mooch.

  17. I have grown up in GA. That flag is everywhere. I agree the people that do display it typically are a rougher crowd and typically not my kind of folks. You do find the rare person that is really into history, dresses up and works the reenactment battles and go to the southern balls. I can see the infatuation of it for those. They typically don't display it on their vehicle and home but are more likely to talk ears off about history. I personally think the flag deserves its place in a museum. It isn't relevent for our modern times.
  18. hmm odd. I am not in Atlanta much. We will go for our Varsity or IKEA fix, the rare Braves game, etc. We rarely make it past the airport. We tend to stay to the south metro. Odd that it shows up on some maps. Misleading.
  19. https://search.yahoo.com/local/s;_ylt=AwrBJSCWGYNVxjIAXXDumYlQ;_ylu=X3oDMTBtMzFvaW44BGNvbG8DYmYxBHZ0aWQDBHQxcG9zAzI-?p=wegmans+locations&addr=Brookhaven%2C+GA&listingid=44935101 when I searched online I came up with a Wegmans in Brookhaven
  20. I have been saying no lately. DH says stop responding even with "no" but I will admit my Nos typically have an explanation of why I can't. We are leaving, pool is being shocked, etc.. Dh says I am being too kind.
  21. :grouphug: Sounds like a no good, very bad day. Finding a lump is scary in and of itself. BTDT. Having to deal with the stress of a horrible medical practice and an annoying co-worker is just icing on the cake of crapastic circumstances! Sorry!
  22. Compared to our Kroger, Deli meats can be $1-3 more per pound and same brand. Breads were about .25 more for their cheapest loaf. Every thing seemed to be at least .25 to .50 more. Some instances, like bacon was a good 2 dollars more, cheese at least a dollar more. There weren't cheaper brands to choose from. I already buy store brand at Kroger. There were some BOGOs but in my opinion it just got the prices down to what I pay not on sale at Kroger. For instance with ice cream. They had a gallonish bucket for 7 dollars. I pay 5 at Kroger. Both store brand. Their half gallonish size is usually 2.50 to 2.99 at Kroger. MAYBE 3.25 for Mayfield brand. Yesterday, they were BOGO for 4.97 each at Publix. That BOGO was bogus compared to my usual price. Mind you yes, I get store brand and the BOGO made Mayfield match store brand price at that time. But usually it would be highly marked up.
