  1. What is funny (or not) is several years ago I got this random birthday invite in our mailbox. I had NO clue who this child was and assumed it was mailed to the wrong family. It didn't have my girls names on it. I forgot how they titled it but they clearly didn't know my family well. I trashed it. Several months later after invite,my neighbor (the one I do love very much who we will call T) was driving home and noticed a little girl walking on the side of the road. Like 4 or 5 years old. This part of our road is all trees, pastures and she was walking towards a very busy highway. So T pulled over talked to her for a little bit and then drove her to what she assumed was her home. The girl led her there to the neighbor I am having issues with. Long story short, the neighbor in question had told the girl to get off the school bus and just come play with her daughter. T refused to leave this little girl with her and made the little girl again give her directions to home. She drove her home. Turns out the dad works nights and is always sleeping when this girl got off the school bus. Inappropriate neighbor had convinced her to just leave home and walk the road to visit. Well over a mile away. While my neighbor, T, was getting back in her car, the inappropriate neighbor commented to her to please tell ME that she was trying to arrange a play date between our girls and her daughter and to contact her. She had been the one leaving the random birthday party invite in my mailbox. My neighbor told her we homeschool and never let the kids play with neighbor kids. It is one of those things that I didn't witness in person really. It was crazy at the time. My girls were 5. It has been 5 years and I suppose crazy neighbor took T for her word that I wasn't interested until recently. My girls are older and roam a bit further away from home playing with other kids.
  2. wow! I had never heard of Wegmans. I see that Atlanta has atleast one. Our town needs a Wegmans! We are in the metro area! I should start a Wegmans rally. HA! There are locals trying to get a Trader Joes here.
  3. Is that the same as many call the "Atlanta Farmer's Market?" My DHs Grandfather worked at whatever the international farmers market was called in Atl. He worked there for decades before he passed away. I wish we were closer but it is too far! Lucky you to be so near!
  4. Do you intentionally get to know your neighbors? I'm not talking about the one closest to you but neighbors several houses down, half a mile a way, or the like that have kids that some times play with yours? We love our closest neighbor. They are like grandparents to my kids, they spoil them and give them treats. However, they aren't intrusive. They will call occasionally asking for a cup of sugar or if we can help with a computer issue. We borrow a rake or tiller, etc. It is a very comfortable give and take relationship. They are welcome here. They wave, we wave. Happy relationship We now have more kids my kids play with and one parent in particular is driving me bonkers. It isn't the child. She is okay other than trying to stir the pot in some neighborhood girl drama but I think that typical for 10 year old girls.. The mom on the other hand has known me a total of 3 weeks. She now messages me 3 or 4 times a week inviting her daughter over while she goes to shop, or their pool is in the shade and too cold so can her daughter come swim with ours, can they leave her here because they have some errand to run and today they called needing us to help them because their car is dead and she doesn't want to call her road side assistance. If it was a rare thing I would say okay, this is normal and I would be happy to help. However, she is half a mile away. She isn't my friend. I barely know her. We don't chat often. I barely know her girl. She has neighbors that are home and closer. DH was tired of my phone going off this morning with notifications, saw her message and muted my phone without telling me about it till hours later. He feels she is a pain in the rear and if she keeps it up we should even stop the girls from playing with her girl. I agree she is annoying the snot out of me. Anyway, I guess this is a vent, JAWM, and welcome to some advice. I know I am a horrible person for not extending daily welcome, fresh baked banana bread and social hour at my home daily.
  5. We have an Aldi about 30 minutes from us. Publix can take 30 minutes to get there, depending on heavy traffic. It is usually only about 20 minutes, though. I shop the most at Kroger. I just get irritated with shopping there at times. It is still better than Walmart, though!
  6. Mine loved Fly Guy as well. I would squeeze him in there around the Toad and Frog and Little Bear level of books! Also, Bad Kitty was a hit.
  7. I want them to make sense financially so I can justify shopping there...or win the lottery and not care any more!
  8. Elephant and Piggy Biscuit Frog and Toad Little Bear ^That's the order we used them, too.
  9. I had to tun into Publix the other day in a rush. It was so much nicer than our normal grocery store. Cleaner, newer, more registers opened, happier workers. It really felt like a breath of fresh air. However, the prices kill me. I just can't stomach the markup on some products. I wish I couponed more to make it more affordable but I am bad about letting them collect dust and expire.
  10. I live in GA, so I can even "hear" their twangy accent as I read it. I love the classified community. It keeps me entertained.
  11. hahaha, just kidding. Never heard of it. eta: I have a mattress cover and a down mattress pad that I take off and wash. Does that count? Am I still supposed to vacuum the mattress?!
  12. it gets a good enough beating... no vacuuming required :cheers2:
  13. Yep. I think seasons have changed and time for you to volunteer somewhere else. At least, that is what I would do.
  14. I love library sales but I got burned badly last year. I grabbed some really old encyclopedias and brought them home. Put them on my shelf with all our leather bound Bibles. Turns out they had carpet beetles in them. The carpet beetles love leather and destroyed all of my old Bibles before I discovered them. We had to throw away so many books due to them. Just look over those books very well!
  15. Our's doesn't either. GA doesn't require one... but I do like to tell my kids I am training them to be the prettiest little garden gnomes.. Mine have the official title of "gnomeschoolers" since DH won't let me buy my own gaudy gnomes for my yard :p I've threatened to get shirts made and make them wear a red gnome hat while on field trips to museums.. I really should follow through :p
  16. of course you are :p because I JUST bought American history living books.. PM what you have LOL I may need more :p
  17. They really do and anything AAR or AAS. I've never had a problem selling Apologia. That is one of those brands I buy wanting to love it as much as everyone else and I just can not use it. It saddens me. ha ha Thankfully they sell well. Also, I had a set of SOTW that sold within 5 hrs of posting online. We are finished with the Ancients rotation and I am wanting to put those on my kindle anyway. No reason to need the book itself.
  18. I considered this route for SCM. I did get 3 pdfs but I figured actual books would be best. Now, if I had an extra paperwhite and a fire...we may be able to lol. I didn't want to miss out of pictures and I also don't like reading on the fire. So I'd need both.
  19. I had an idea of where I wanted to go this year for History, went to a local homeschool used book sale and bought about 20 dollars worth of books. I was content with what I found. I had mapped it all out with how it would go for us this year. Then SOMEONE on this forum mentioned Simply Charlotte Mason. I fell in love with their lesson plans for American History, bought the pdfs that I could and then ordered the used books from abebooks.com for the others needed... I have now posted a large for sale email with my local homeschool association. Partly selling what I JUST BOUGHT plus other things. Pretty sure I am losing it. Anyone else running around screaming "sell all the things!!!" ? :willy_nilly:
  20. I'd want to be in a beach cottage with no yard upkeep or in an apartment upstairs in a downtown small town. I would need a cafe and coffee shop near by. Also a bookstore. Free green space to roam trails, see birds, enjoy the sun. Not terribly humid. Or if humid, a constant sea breeze. No long winters of snow.
  21. Could be beef broth if you haven't consumed meat at all in a very long time.
  22. Soy makes me sick mid meal and afterwards until I vomit it out. I would think a stomach bug in your instance. You've suffered quite a while. My body rejects soy to the point of immediate body flush.
  23. We have a 16'x48" intex pool. So far we love it. It took us about three days of working on digging up the grass and leveling it. We then put down a fullsize truck bed of sand before we put down the tarp and set it up. Starting chemicals cost us about 140.
  24. Well the official answer is no but mine get on there when we are in a different room and clear the tables for me. All cups, drinks in them or empty, nail polish bottles, papers, anything moveable is shoved off and then they meow loudly till I come see their mess, then walk away as if instructing me to clean it. I shall video it one day.
