  1. Just paid 1.89 for a jumbo dozen.
  2. click around the website, there are a ton of different pages as well.
  3. Thank you all for the suggestions. I am going to pass them along to her. I really hope she continues her journey to strengthen. She has me worried.
  4. It sounds like you have a very open, welcoming community. Everyone in ours just keeps to themselves. I know 4 neighbors out of 30ish. I'm out walking 3 or 4 times a week plus just being outdoors all the time. Everyone here just seems uninterested in meeting neighbors and they keep to themselves. No sense or need to meet us before letting their kids swim, etc. I was looked at weird when one kid was invited to a house to swim and I showed up with a smile, shook their hand and introduced myself and got their cell number. I think some neighborhoods have a different dynamic. My in laws neighborhood was very much as you describe. Everyone waving, smiling, socializing.
  5. I agree. It definitely says to NEVER trust homemade cupcakes from yoga pant wearing moms. Also says that kilts are only suitable attire for men with washboard abs.... :gnorsi:
  6. :iagree: rinse and repeat. A child that knows my rules asked again this evening. Actually, she whispered and force my DD to ask. Which was responded with a "sorry, not today" answer. She left all pouty but she will get over it :p
  7. speaking of neighbor kids. There is one kid that I always hear screaming bloody murder. There have seriously been several times that I ran out of the house with shoes in my hands running down into our woods because it sounded like a child was seriously in trouble. SEVERAL TIMES. Not just once or twice. DH and I walk/jog the road quite frequently but we typically never go on the road behind our house because there is a horrible hill and I am a baby. Well, we started going that route to conquer the hill and we have since learned the identity of the "screaming like a heathen" kid. What is worse is I know the kid...and the parents....(insert crickets chirping). After the revelation of the identity of the screaming heathen, I now know I can't approach the parents. They don't care. I just pray I don't ignore the kid's screams one time when he actually is in trouble.
  8. I found basketball shorts at Academy Sports for $5.99. I prefer them and roll their waist a wee bit to get a better length for my short legs. I like a short that is long enough in the in seam that my inner thighs have no chance of rubbing while I jog. If I feel them rubbing and the rash begins, it will be all I can focus on. So, I run in those or capri compression pants. I know my longer shorts aren't as stylish but I am at the point of going for comfort and not fashion :p I've tried bermuda length and they look really bad on me.. so these are in between bermuda and the shorter versions available. We are meeting tomorrow evening at the high school track at 7pm. I always do two rounds of walking bleachers to warm up my legs, then start my c25k app. After that is complete, I continue to walk to finish out the hour. I also meet up with my friend while I am just walking at the end and just enjoy the conversations. Work and jog first, walk and chat last. It makes me happy that way, though.
  9. She may have just already used her well check for the year. I had just stated to her she needed to consult her dr about the abdominal pain and asked if she had already done so. Her reply was no. I pushed that I thought she should go and discuss it and she expressed concern of deductible. I know she had blood work and a physical in November or December. Could be she is just waiting till next well check/follow up for prescription refills.
  10. http://www.doodle-art-alley.com/school-subject-coloring-pages.html Thought I would share this link. We are printing these out, coloring and adding them to the cover of cheap spiral notebooks.
  11. Our rule for neighborhood playing is outside only. Always outside only. I have instructed my kids to never go inside someone's home and to never allow kids in our home. They can come home to use the restroom/eat a snack. I see no reason for kids to come indoors.
  12. I get it. I do miss the days of no neighbor kids. I feel responsible when they are on my property. I never know if their parents are going to drop by. I then think I need to straighten up my house a wee better or straighten up the front or back yard. I just feel like my personal bubble has been invaded at times. I'm just not as relaxed.
  13. My mom has just retired. She was basically chained to a desk and required to sit for 8 hours a day for 8 years. Due to her commute distance, she never had the time to truly get any exercise in. Not even during lunch or breaks. Her job was horrible. I am in awe of someone strong enough to endure the abusive nature of the data entry job she held for so long. So, she is home now and trying to improve her health but she has me worried. She isn't horribly over weight and 60 years old. She is about 185 to 195 pounds and about 5' 6". What concerns me is she is really sore in her lower abdomen after even standing or walking for prolonged times. She did a "walk away the pounds" one mile walk video and was sore for 3 days afterwards. She gets tired after an hour of shopping and is exhausted by the time she makes it home. I have pushed her to see a dr to get cleared for exercise but she refuses since their deductible is so high with no preventative care currently. She does own a treadmill. I had suggested she just walk more often currently. The soreness in the lower abdomin muscles just seems odd to me but perhaps it is normal for being stuck in a chair for so long?
  14. We have 3 extra kids in our pool as we speak. Some days, I wish they had never came around but my kids are enjoying the friendships and they are outside running/swimming off energy. We do have a tight grocery budget, so I do get irked that my kids come in asking to feed the other kids. They aren't far from home, so I always tell them to run home for a snack and then come back. I am going to try to grab some freezer pops, though. Those are good for hot, summer days and cheap.
  15. Well, I searched Office Depot, Dollar Tree and Target for school supplies. No good deals to be had currently. I am thankful I didn't buy from OD, though. They wanted 8 bucks for a large steno pad. I found them for 2.15 at Target. I use these for my lefty writer. Target by far had the best selection of affordable notebooks. Dollar Tree has just regular office supplies out currently and their back to school abundance has not hit the stores yet. Anyway, I spent $25 with just enough to start out our school year with some fun new notebooks but I will buy my bulk of supplies in about a month.
  16. I want a "cool"! I got a "ughhhh, WHY do we have to write?!" Here's to hoping mandatory fun writing can indeed become fun for us. My crew loves a good fantasy story. If I can just get them to stop thinking they hate writing to consider it, we may make some progress! Oddly enough, they do love to make stop motion videos and voice over videos of their toys at times. I know they enjoy the creative side. They just don't see it yet.
  17. I'm in :) I have restarted twice lately. I find if I skip a week or two, I need to restart or I get stuck. I successfully finished c25k a couple years ago, lost 25+ pounds and was feeling great. I have gained that weight back and miss loving jogging. I did like it after the initial couple weeks. My favorite apps are c25k by zen labs. I also keep my distance and speed tracked by runkeeper. I listen to google music while I jog. I will be changing to a free app soon though. Probably spotify or milk.
  18. I do a drive thru car wash at least once a month. 10 bucks and I love their free vacuums. Must more powerful than my home vacuum.
  19. I would do pre-algebra. That is where my boys are at now. I have always heard to just make sure you can be at Algebra 1 by 9th year. Am I misinformed on the ideal time/schedule?
  20. I really love that idea. We don't have that kind of space to do for four kiddos, though. We homeschool in our dining/kitchen area.
  21. Kids can find some creative ways to waste my time. Lol. They have about 5 each stacked on their shelf. They some how manage to get them tangled together and then pull them hard. Next thing I know I'm being snagged by the wire or they are being poked or my table is being scratched. Really, they have special skills at procrastinating.
  22. You and your family are still in our thoughts and prayers!
