  1. Well she really isn't dying to go paleo. Heck, we would all (in our family anyway) prefer to live on carbs. I just think Whole 30 is easy because there is lots of info/support/recipes available. The main things the Whole 30 eliminates are dairy, wheat and soy. I mean yeah you're ditching alcohol and the sugars and stuff, but a lot of that would be eliminated by virtue of eliminating the main 3. I will tell her this though, as I think she will have to, at the very least, modify her Whole 30 a bit.
  2. I try not to eat the stuff much, but seriously, does anything taste better than bacon? I think not.
  3. Well I certainly appreciate your input. The thing is, dd definitely does have issues with dairy, and so have both of her nursing babies. She is also feeling like the grains are possibly causing her issues. She generally eats a pretty healthy diet, so I think the Whole 30 really isn't THAT restrictive in light of her typical diet (not eating dairy much, if at all, limiting grains, and not eating refined sugars). As far as nursing, she should really be fine as long as she gets plenty of calories. I used to be a LLL leader, and I know that women in third world countries can successfully nurse babies, so I don't think she is in danger of messing up anything with her supply, or the quality of her milk. Obviously she doesn't want to feel like garbage though, so if this isn't resolving itself, she will likely not continue.
  4. She read about doing Whole 30 while breastfeeding. A lot of people cut out dairy while nursing anyway, due to allergies, and she wanted to try cutting the grains because of all her eczema issues. I know she can eat a healthy diet with plenty of nutrients doing Whole 30, but she just has to be sure she does it!
  5. This link didn't work, but I'd REALLY like to see this. Is it somewhere in their book?
  6. Yes, water or ice water til cooking and definitely don't overcook.
  7. Thanks for the replies. If she has another day like yesterday, dd is going to get a sample and have it checked for a UTI. I don't think constipation is an issue (never has been), but I mentioned it to dd so maybe she could add in something to help with that if it's an issue. I know she doesn't want to go back to diapers, but I can't say she will rule it out if this continues.
  8. I'm typing this so I can see which I use more, and it appears that I use the left much more (I'm right-handed). It's interesting that you asked this as I would never have even thought of this and certainly wouldn't have thought I'd use the left almost exclusively.

    FIL

I am so very sorry for your family. I will pray for you all as you walk this difficult path. I was there recently with my mother, and it is not easy. Praying for a peaceful transition for your FIL, and peace and comfort for all of you.
  10. I've traveled a LOT the last 4 years. Hilton Garden Inn is the one I've found to be the most consistently nice/clean, with Hampton Inn & Holiday Inn Express being tied for second.
  11. I've read of them doing these types of things during times of tragedy more than once. It's really impressive, and nice to see a company that shows compassion and isn't just thinking about the dollar.
  12. I'll definitely check with her about how much she is drinking and about her salt. The thing is, with Whole 30 she really isn't adding in foods she isn't used to eating; she's just eliminating foods she thinks are causing her issues anyway.
  13. I don't think pg is a possibility. I do know she has been eating more simple carbs recently, thus the desire to do this.
  14. Well she has been eating a good many sweet potatoes, but I'll tell her to kick that up, along with the fats for sure.
  15. She has an occasional accident, but nothing like this. And I don't think it is, but I have definitely thought about it as an attention getting behavior. This dgd is a little quirky. I often wonder if she is on the spectrum, but I feel like she's a little young for a diagnosis (and I know some people are just quirky, but she has some behaviors that make me wonder). The fact that she is just doing it and basically ignoring it is just strange.
  16. Doesn't look like we are gonna get any input. ;-p I'm reading the book. It seems similar to a Whole 30 although it's a little more strict with some of the foods, and you also add in some supplements/probiotics, etc. They also have you reintroduce things for two days, keep a journal then do clean two days before you reintroduce a different food. That part seems really great like you could definitely see how something is affecting you instead of throwing multiple things back in the mix. I just wish someone had experiences with it they'd be willing to share.
  17. Dd is about to lose her mind, so I told her I'd post here and ask for some input. I just can't really think of anything else to tell her. Dgd is potty trained and has been for several months. She will be 3 in September. She asks to potty often and/or goes when dd reminds her with no issues. Today, she has peed SIX times on the couch and in the bed (not during sleep, just when lying there while dd was nursing the baby). Dd said she'll just do it then either scoot over from the wet spot or just not say a thing. She is really struggling trying to figure out what in the world is going on all of a sudden. No sign of any issue like a UTI or anything. I am just really at a loss for ideas (other than telling her to put a diaper cover over her panties so she can't ruin all the furniture). Any ideas?
  18. My dd is doing a Whole 30. She has a 5+ month old baby and is nursing (just for informational purposes). She has been doing Whole 30 for a week, and is feeling really crummy. She gets shaky and feeling like she's going to pass out. She is eating good quality stuff, though I feel like she probably doesn't eat often enough (just a guess). Has anyone gone through feeling really crappy before seeing improvement? She is really hoping to stick this out because she has a lot of Eczema issues and allergy issues that she's hoping to clear up by cleaning up her diet, but I know she can't keep it up if she continues to feel like this.
  19. If so, how did it go? I'm wondering how different this would be than doing a Whole 30 (other than supplements obviously). Just looking for some experiences if anyone has any to share.
  20. My daughter wants vowel cards, but not just flash cards with the vowel; she's looking for cards that have items that start with each of the short vowels so she can put them out when they are studying that vowel sound. Anyone know of anything like this, or is she just going to need to make her own?
  21. Used them on mine when we went to Disneyworld when they were little. Three under 5 so I needed it for their safety and my sanity. My dds will use them on our upcoming trip to Disney with all the grandkids too big to be in the Ergos.
  22. I graduated in 1985 and I absolutely believe the hookup culture is different. That was not really going on much when I was in HS/college. Most of the people having sex were in dating relationships with hopes for a future. I knew very few girls that slept around and those girls did not have good reputations to say the least. We drank, but the drinking just to get trashed was not really a thing. That's not to say no one ever did, but it wasn't usually an intentional thing.
  23. Thanks for the input. I do have an estrogen cream the dr prescribed, but without the testosterone, I basically have ZERO desire anyway. Of course my main issue right now is the anxiety, but I'm just wondering if I could cover all bases. I know taking Zoloft certainly won't help me in that area.
  24. Wow that would be great! Where in VA? I can't believe my daughter lived in VA for 3 years and we didn't know this.
