  1. If so, are you happy with it? Which size do you have, and are you happy with the size? Mine is being delivered today and I have been struggling over which size. On the one hand, if my goal is to ultimately eliminate my desktop and be mobile only, I want the 12.9. OTOH, if I'm thinking I'll keep my desktop, the smaller may be sufficient (it's the exact size of my Air 2, so I wouldn't really need much in the way of accessories, other than the pencil). Hoping to get some input. I've asked on the Mac forums and gotten a ton of varying opinions. What sayeth the hive?
  2. Share which note-taking app is your favorite and why. I want something where I'll be able to sort and organize notes. Getting my iPad pro today, and I have a feeling the pencil is going to be my dream come true.
  3. Thanks for your input! I appreciate that there are things I definitely need to consider. Gaming is certainly not an issue for me as I have never played any type of video/computer games. I DO have a couple of games I play regularly on my iPad, although that really isn't affecting my decision since I own, and will continue to own, an iPad anyway. I guess the thing is that over the last year or two, I have used my computer less and less and my iPad/iPhone more and more. That's why this is something I'm even considering.
  4. Do you have to have internet service to connect it to, or are there some that just intercept and boost the cellular signal coming into the home? We live in the boonies and our service has been extra crummy - don't think a provider change will really work for us, as none are really that great in our area. It seems pretty ridiculous that a cell phone booster would require internet service. If I had good internet service, I wouldn't need to boost my data to begin with. :confused1:
  5. I was under the impression that if you've never been married in the Catholic church, that marriage wouldn't be viewed as a marriage. So while you technically aren't married in the eyes of the church, you could have your current marriage blessed in the church (they wouldn't consider your first marriage a true marriage), and you'd be all good. I'm not positive, but this is what I gathered from speaking with a priest a couple years back regarding my own situation.
  6. Just wanted to update since her last injection/vet visit. Vet came out Thursday and gave her the last of 4 injections for her joints, an injection of bute and gave us some bute powder (she had really balked at taking the paste). Right now there seems to be significant improvement in the way she feels. She wasn't down this morning for the first time in several weeks. She's moving better, not holding her back leg up all the time, and looking more perky overall. What we have decided is to go with this as long as it seems to be keeping her comfortable, (and of course, isn't losing more weight, which we hope she won't with warm weather here). At the point we see the bute not controlling her pain, or it affecting her in any other way, we will put her down. I feel good about this because I can tell the meds are controlling her pain. I won't say she's like a different horse, but she is a LOT better than she was 4 days ago. I'm pretty shocked. I know we don't have a lot more time with her, but I'm hoping to at least give her some good months here at the end of her life. Thanks for all the input. I do feel that the decision will be easier to make when the time comes knowing we did the most we could for her.
  7. In the app they only give an option for one type of book. I know I can go to the site from the iPad and have the option of making other types - just wondered if anyone knew about making adjustments to the photo book pages and if that would be possible from the iPad. I guess what I need to do is break out my iPad and try it. I'm not worried about the lack of keyboard because when I need a keyboard, I can use a full size bluetooth one (bought them for my grandkids' iPads for about $15 each and they are almost identical to the Mac wireless keyboard). I already have a wireless printer so I can definitely print from an iPad with no problem. I know doing actual typing of documents would be different, and it would take getting used to (because of using the touch screen versus clicking a mouse), but I don't see it being any more of a learning curve than anything else. I cannot STAND using a trackpad on a laptop and that would be a huge adjustment for me, but people with laptops have no problems with that. I certainly haven't made any decisions, but I am up here typing on my $1400+ iMac that I use once a week at best, wondering if I could live without it...
  8. The main thing I need to be able to do is upload them and make photo books on shutterfly.
  9. Thanks for all the input. I occasionally get on my computer for viewing the boards and Facebook (but I do both of those on my iPad on phone most of the time), and I do type docs (which I could do on my iPad as well), but other than that it's only for doing stuff with my pictures. I have no desire to have a laptop. I have an iMac, iPad (because I do need portability when I meet people tor Disney planning), and iPhone (because I simply couldn't live without that). My iMac is fairly new and there is no place for CDs or DVDs, so that doesn't even factor into the decision. The main thing is the issue with the photos for me. A full size keyboard is easy, and it doesn't have to be attached all the time, so I would have no problem dealing with that. Also, I can't make my photo books on my Mac. We live in the boonies and have an unstable internet connection. Because it sometimes loses connection during the upload, I have to start all over AND I get charged for the book every time I start uploading, so I've had three charges for one book in the past. That's why I use shutterfly now - I just do the lay flat pages and they are a lot nicer. Anyway, I don't know about all this - just thinking about it. I've been trying to pare down my life and figure I could possibly replace my iPad Air and my iMac with an iPad Pro and I'll be able to do more than with just my iPad Air - just not sure if it'll even come close to having the iMac (and from what y'all are saying, that's a no).
  10. Food for thought... I would still use my phone for taking pics and I'd upload them to the cloud, so if I could get them to shutterfly, I could possibly still make my books. I'm going to have to investigate.
  11. My daughter still has hair from the mane of her very first pony that we had to put down 17 years ago. I KNOW she will want to keep hair from Angel. She has practically grown up with this mare. We got her for my middle dd when she was 10. She is now 24 with 3 kids and heartbroken that this is happening. My mom, the light of her life (well, lots of our lives), died less than 2 weeks ago, and having to make this call right now just stinks.
  12. Why or why not? I'm thinking of going pro (as in iPad pro) and wondering if I could do that and eliminate my iMac. I do almost everything from my iPad. I am ONLY concerned about photos, and what to do with them; how to get them uploaded, printed, make books, etc. If it weren't for photos/videos, I wouldn't be remotely worried about ditching my computer. What does the hive say? What are the other things I'm not considering that would require me to keep a computer?
  13. She will definitely be buried here with our other old girl. I know in my head it's probably the right thing to do, but the thought of actually doing it is killing me.
  14. Our mare is 27+. She has struggled with weight the last couple years at my sister's place (free ranging on 160 acres, but getting shortchanged on feed due to greedier horses eating her feed). We moved her back here before winter so we could get her on senior feed twice daily, and be sure she was eating enough. We also had her on a joint supplement as she was a timed event horse and has had issues with her joints and arthritis (we never pushed her in timed events, but the girl we got her from had competed all over her state). She didn't put the weight on like we thought she might with regular feeding, but she seemed to be feeling ok. Fast forward to early this year - she had a fall. We aren't sure what happened but something chased her and she got hung up in some field fencing between our neighbor's property and our property. When I found her she was in a puddle of muddy water. It was about 40 degrees (and had been colder earlier that morning). It took a while to get her untangled, and warmed up enough to where she would make an effort to assist us in getting her to a stand. I finally got her up (after calling 4 vets to come out with ZERO luck), got her covered and warming under heat lamps, fed, etc., and she seemed to recover from that okay. Well now she is down every morning (she has always been one to lay down a good bit), and most days she can't get up on her own. It's not too difficult to help her up, but the other morning I cried at how she tried and tried to do it on her own and just kept falling (she saw me coming and wanted to get up so badly, but couldn't). Once up, she can move around okay, but any time she is stopped, grazing, etc., she holds her right back leg up in the air, and just seems like it bothers her most of the time. She has sores that have formed on her right side on the shoulder area, and the area between her hip and butt from being down. I treat them, but I can't keep her from lying down, so I can't really make them go away. Here is what we are doing: Vet checked her a few weeks ago, and she has been getting weekly injections for her joints (will go to monthly after they have time to build up). She was getting bute for about the first 10 days until the joint meds kicked in. Her teeth were recently floated and she does eat well (though still no real weight gain - and possibly even a little loss - even with supplemental fats and a couple gallons of senior feed a day - and she's a 14h horse, so she isn't a big girl). The other issue, and I hate that it's an issue, is money. We are spending nearly $200/month for her feed, shots & supplements. We don't spend that on all our other animals put together. I do love her, but at what point is the expense pointless? She can't be ridden, doesn't look good, and is uncomfortable at best; in constant pain at worst. I know this is a long, drawn out post, but I guess I'm "talking" myself through it while typing it. Bottom line, WWYD?
  15. I have read a lot about that and almost bought one. One review I read said it was a little unstable and I was afraid it might get knocked over with my "bull in a china cabinet" hubby cleaning the kitchen. ;-p
  16. What apps, if any, do you have for organizing things in your life that have really made a difference? I'm ready to step up my tech game and I need to have some apps that will play well between my iPad, iPhone and iMac.
  17. Prayers for you and the situation as a whole. I hope an agreeable solution for all can be found.
  18. I'm pretty good at only drinking my Yeti full each day (the 20 oz yeti, and by full I mean with ice and everything). Occasionally I'll have another half a yeti, but if I do straight caff, I can't handle it. I usually do a half-caff coffee so I can enjoy a little more without getting the jitters. ;-p By the time I pulled my coffee sacks out of my gallon jug today, I only had about half gallon of actual coffee so this batch may be a little more concentrated than my last. For future measurements, I'll use PW's recipe.
  19. Pioneer Woman's recipe looks a lot like what I'm going for - thanks for linking that! I like that it's not a super concentrated one that you have to dilute a bunch before sweetening/adding milk. I'm gonna work with her measurements and go from there!
  20. I was actually eyeballing a concentrate at Whole Foods the other day. I'm planning to try it. It says one part concentrate to 3 or 4 parts water/milk. I think it would be about the same price for me to do that as make my own, and a LOT less hassle. It just doesn't give me options to use good coffees.
  21. I have been using my french press, but I have really wanted to do a larger amount, and have the concentrate to use for a week or so.
  22. How do you make yours? How concentrated is it? Are you making it to drink over ice, or to reheat? My new cold brew venture is making a big batch at a time in a gallon glass jar with a spigot (easy to put in my yeti from there), not super concentrated, and then I just add a little honey simple syrup and my homemade almond milk to make my iced drink. I'm doing 4 c fresh grounds and 12 c water, and basically I put about 8-10 ounces coffee in my yeti, add about a T of hot water that I dissolve 1/2 t or so of honey in, then probably 1/8-1/4 c homemade almond milk and ice. I don't have the measurements to an exact science yet, so I was wondering what others do.
  23. I'd give pyrex. Glass is better for storage, and you can heat in it also - much more practical.
  24. I have a Blendtec and am so glad I finally stepped up my blender game. I had a Bosch universal and just never got the power I wanted from the blender. The only thing is I didn't want so many huge appliances so I sold the Bosch and now I miss having a mixer. ;-p I did jump on the Instant pot bandwagon and I am really glad I did. I'm loving it so far, and like that it replaces my crock pot, rice cooker AND gives me a pressure cooker (which I probably never would've purchased). In addition, I can take the raw milk we get and it'll pasteurize it, then make it into yogurt! I also love that it is stainless and doesn't leach any questionable particles from anything into my food. I'm still going to need a Kitchen Aid mixer at some point, and a good food processor (mine is crappy but I really don't use it that much so I'm not ready to spend a fortune).
