  1. I do same as above but with shredded chicken. I put chicken breasts in the crockpot, add some bbq sauce and a splash of vinegar and many hours later everything falls apart and is heavenly on a bun! :D Melissa in St Louis
  2. those little phyllo shello crusts (tiny ones) with some sort of like finely minced chicken salad? I am odd. i don't know. :D Melissa in St Louis
  3. That is SO helpful! :D Yes, we have done spelling bees, and he LOVED them, so that is a goal at this point. However, with spelling bees you do get a huge list to study of possible words, so in prep we would be studying the list words anyway. Going at grade level for him sounds like the best choice. Thank you SO MUCH! (phew! Spelling figured out! Only a few more things left to go! :D) Melissa in St Louis
  4. if we have never formally done spelling before, yet I have an advanced speller who knows how to correctly spell up through 4th grade...what grade should I buy? Start at the beginning so we DO learn all the rules? Or challenge him a bit? Thanks! Melissa in St Louis
  5. and DS can already correctly spell the words in the back of the 4th grade book....??? What do I order? We don't do cursive yet, so that is also a concern.
  6. Glad you family is having success with it. I am torn between Rod and Staff and How to Teach Spelling. Rod and Staff sounds great! Anyone else have thoughts? Thanks so much! Melissa in St Louis
  7. What is the concensus on Rod and Staff Spelling? This would be for a 2nd grader who is generally a good speller. I am going with Rod and Staff English next year, and I'm thinking the Spelling might be a good fit, also. Thoughts? Thanks hive! Melissa in St Louis
  8. :D I am blessed with all of these suggestions!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! :D
  9. Probably not to a different COUNTY, but probably a smidge closer to you! :D We are trying really hard to find somewhere that isn't too far from our curent church, AWANA, piano lessons, and homeschool PE classes...BUT also somewhere that would be a bit closer to Jive #2. :001_huh: Anywhoo, I'm sure to make a venture out your way soon. I will have to (I mean, I have to honor of;)) decorating for St Pat's pretty soon. Take care, Melissa
  10. It may cost a few $, but uniform boxes would be nice. Especially if I am labeling them and storing them too.
  11. We are going across town and probably packing ourselves. I have never moved/packed before (it is a REALLLLLLLY long story how that is possible!), so I am kinda lost. The suggestions here are great, and I looked at the flylady suggestions, also. Do I buy boxes or scrounge them? Thinking of doing the cardfile/organized boxes thing...anyone done this? Seems like some extra work, but might be well worth it. I have just been decluttering and tossing like crazy this week, so I see how much it is possible to get done (as long as no school is happening :tongue_smilie:). TIA! Melissa in St Louis
  12. What are your best tips for packing/moving quickly and efficiently? TIA! Melissa in St Louis
  13. I think I'm going to go with REAL....I think. It seemed a bit more "lively" than CKE, and maybe more fun. I wanted something fun, lively, and God-honoring, but it seems that there is nothing I would disagree with in REAL. :001_smile: Thanks for helpin' me sort it all out! Melissa in St Louis
  14. Thanks, ladies....food for thought! :001_smile: :001_smile: Melissa in St Louis
  15. What do you and your kiddos do on Saturdays? I have been pretty unstructured with them on Saturdays kind of letting them "chill" while I clean most of the day. Sundays we are up and at 'em for Sunday School/Church, and the rest of the day may be family fun day or it may be more of what we did Saturday. Anywhooooo, I feel like maybe we should be doing some school or something on Saturday so we aren't trying to get through as much during the week....fun stuff: experiments, art, etc. I know, I know...they SHOULD be helping me clean! :banghead: Melissa in St Louis
  16. Yes, copywork animals. We have toy animals that MUST walk over the day's copywork to ensure things are correct. Heading up this parade of friends is Capitalization Cow (who looks for letters inappropriately capitalized), Space Goat (who makes sure there is plenty of space between words), Punctuation Penguin (I bet you can figure this one out!), and Lovely Letters Lion (makes sures letters are neat and "lovely"). Ah, yes. I understand!:D Melissa in St Louis
  17. For 2nd grade next year, whatcha like better? Pandia Press' REAL Science Earth and Space or Christian Kids Explore Earth and Space?:bigear: TIA! Melissa in St Louis
  18. put a washcloth or 2 in there as well to kind of "scrub" it! :D Hope that Helps! Melissa in St Louis
  19. For my kiddos, ages 3 and 6, do I want DHA gummies or Omega 3*6*9 gummies. We are looking for help with MOOD and CONCENTRATION mostly. :001_smile: Thoughts? Melissa in St Louis
