  1. Wow. I can't wait to hear how her dinner went! I married into a Filipino family and I thank God I have never witnessed such a "feast." DH said he has seen this when he was little and his grandparents were alive. Wow. Jean gets a gold star! :001_smile:
  2. Here ya go, Emmy! Quiver’s Legendary Cinnamon Rolls ~ courtesy of Jean, Quiverof10 Dough: 1 T. Dry Yeast 1 Cup warm milk 1/3 C. white sugar 1/2 C. melted butter 1 tsp. salt 2 eggs 4 C. flour Dissolve yeast in warm milk. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Knead into a ball. Let rise until double in size. When ready, roll out to about 1/4 inch thick. Spread with filling. Filling: 1/4 C. butter, softened 1 C. brown sugar 3 T. cinnamon Spread butter on dough evenly. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over dough evenly. Roll dough up. Slice roll into 1 inch slices. Place on a greased pan. Let rise again until doubled. bake 10 min. at 400 degrees. Icing: 1/2 C. butter, softened 1 1/2 C. powdered sugar 1 oz. cream cheese 2 T. whipping cream 1 tsp. vanilla extract pinch of salt Beat until fluffy. When rolls are hot, spread lots of icing on them. To make these the night before needed, skip the final rising step. Let rise overnight in the fridge. In the morning, bake! TO make slicing easier I use dental floss. Just slip it under the roll, criss cross and pull. Nice, even slices Jean
  3. Thanks so much, everyone! Walgreens had some very nice ones. :001_smile: Walgreens has EVERYTHING! I would have never thought to look there for the stuffed animal, but they had TONS of cute and very soft ones. :001_smile:
  4. Where can I find an inexpensive giant stuffed animal? Brick and mortar stores, only....gotta get it today! :auto: Seen any?
  5. Adorable daughter and super-cute dogs! :) Love how it's outside and "natural." (Is that a Newfoundland? I really, really want to kiss that dog! :001_wub:)
  6. I was going to say "glad I'm not alone," but that's not true...I'm sorry I have company in the "My day stinks" department. :grouphug: Thanks, Chelle, you're too sweet. As an aside, my husband has this "issue" with the word "insolent" and will probably wet his pants when I tell him you used it. That alone brightened my day. If you wanna bring your 14 yo over, that'd be great. Plenty of floors here need mopped. :D Hope everyone's day starts looking up.
  7. As usual, Rosie has an amazing, level-headed idea. I SOOOOOO wish she was my neighbor!!!!:D
  8. Here's the link: http://www.ourbestbites.com/2009/09/single-serving-pie-in-jar.html Turning out cute so far!:001_smile:
  9. I went out today and got some gift cards to put in my hubby's date calendar...a few of the cheaper ones were mini golf ($10) and bowling ($5). I'm also printing out a thing to go take a tour of Anheuser-Busch (free, and part of StL history), and for a picnic at the park....still working on more ideas!:)
  10. Hi, Bethany! Thanks for the advice. :001_smile: I'm making blueberry crumble pies with the graham cracker crusts-- FIL's favorite!
  11. Like a few others here, i'm getting ready to make the cutie mini pies in the mason jars. I'm wondering: if the pie usually has a graham cracker crust, what should I do? Make it with the dough crust or fashion a graham cracker crust in the mason jar? Thanks!!!!
  12. Alright, no I'm sitting here doing this for my hubby. He will be thrilled that I'm taking the initiative to plan dates. Thank you. :001_smile:
  13. Maybe check out restaurants.com for cheap gift cards to local restaurants. I don't know current prices, but a while back it was $2 for a $10 card! :D Great idea. My hubby would LOVE this!
  14. Yep, she's great. She played (aka went wild) for a few hours and is now happily slumbering in her crate. Thank God. :D
  15. ....make sure she doesn't get into the garbage can and eat coffee grounds. A caffinated canine isn't fun. :willy_nilly: That's my December PSA for the Hive.
  16. Guess what....it's totally back to normal! This morning I thought I needed to go to the ER or something, and now I feel perfectly fine. :001_huh: :D Thanks so much! What would I do without you guys????
