  1. I don't have any great wisdom for your two questions, sorry. I did want to say that my dd5 occasionally reverses her letters, exactly as you described, and also writes the word backwards. In example for the word "thanks" she would write "sknaht" and all those letters individually would be reversed as well. Amazingly she reads it perfectly. I had her tested and they said until she was 7 they wouldn't recommend doing anything. That many children reverse letters and words in some variation and it's okay. They outgrow it naturally. I'll be interested in hearing your replies to see if what we were told is common or if we should be more concerned with it.:001_smile:
  2. Thanks for leaving the link. I had fun playing with them online. =)

  3. Christian Light Education (CLE) is what has been a huge success for us. My dd9 will pull the same thing your son has been doing occasionally. She is a bright child and very good at math in general. Usually if it is something that challenges her she procrastinates and whines some. I tend to have her do it in small spurts when she is acting up in this manner. Having her do a lesson broken up is less overwhelming for her. CLE is spiral so I find the retention level to be superb. It is extremely teacher friendly, as another post said, and is inexpensive. Good luck in finding something that works for both of you.
  4. I wanted to drop by and say that I like your stick family in your sig. line. We have similar ones on our car and I really like them. Are yours on a vehicle or did you find them online somewhere to post here?

  5. Not sure if WalMart does it but my eyeglass place lets you take a few frames home so you can show family/friends and spend a little more time in them while not feeling rushed at their office. I find this helpful so I can see myself in natural lighting in them. Also there are youtube videos on picking the right frames for your face, I found some of them helpful. Another idea is to look online at the face shapes websites. They show you good frame suggestions based on the shape of your face. Good luck finding a great pair of glasses!
  6. :iagree: This is exactly what I was thinking. As an adult their names will cause much unnecessary stress for them. Simply signing up for utilities will become an issue. No phone company will place a phone line in the name of Adolf Hitler without first showing proof of identity. So what most can simply do over the phone they won't be able to do. I am hoping they will find a nickname or shorter form of their names to help them along in life. Imagine as an employee answering a phone, "good morning, ---business name---, Adolf Hitler speaking". I'm not thinking businesses would appreciate that.:glare:
  7. So glad you love your Yukon. I'm with those that love their suburbans. I started with a Tahoe and then went to Suburbans. I'm on my second one and wouldn't settle for anything else. The safety, room, and comfort are awesome! They handle great in winter weather, pull our four wheelers and camp trailer, and the gas mileage isn't as bad as people think. I hope you enjoy yours as much as we have enjoyed ours.:001_smile:
  8. Northeast Oregon and we had a low of -8 last night, currently showing 0 degrees. Lots of snow on the ground and expecting more snow to fall for the next week. Time to break out the sleds, cocoa, and super warm clothes!
  9. I seen in the weather thread that you are from Northeastern Oregon. We live in this area too. It's nice to see another family from this area on the boards.

  10. I couldn't help but laugh at this. I wish it were that easy (and inexpensive) to just go to Wal-Mart, but they aren't long enough on me. I swear pants are capris, capris are boy shorts, and shorts are daisy dukes. It's sad. And then you hear all those comments, "It must be nice to have long legs like that". My response, "try shopping for them!".
  11. I ordered the catalog. How long did it take for your catalog to come?
  12. Thank you for all the links! Thank everyone for their suggestions. I'm ordering the Penney's ones and going to try those. I wish they weren't back ordered. :glare:
  13. This looks great. I added it to a wish list for my dd5's birthday. I think all the kids will enjoy it!
  14. :iagree:We love adjustable waist Target pants here. They fit great for my girls- all tall and thin.
  15. I'm very long legged. 36" touch the top of a shoe, I prefer 38" so when I sit down they don't become capris, lol. It has made jean shopping a curse word. I have three daughters that are going to hate jean shopping too.
  16. I checked their site and can only find 34" inseam. Do you know what kind they are (i.e. 553,518, etc.)?
  17. I read the other thread on hard to find jeans and thought I would post one for talls. I require a 36" inseam, minimum. My problem is that all the great jeans I find are for a size 0. I'm a size 8/10 depending on the jean. Are there any tall ladies out there that have discovered some great jeans with long inseam? Please share with me your secret! tnmomofboys (hope I got the name right) recommended http://www.zafu.com. I went to the website and it recommended 17 types of jeans. I would love to hear personal recommendations from ladies that have worn them. They suggested Eddie Bauer, Long Elegant Legs, and Lucky brands. Anyone have any opinions of these or new recommendations?
  18. I loved this! I didn't know there was a sight like this out there.:001_smile:
  19. We do the same, technically we are on break from Thanksgiving through the second week of January. We have been doing some school each day and it works out okay. It basically releases the stress on myself to skip school if we have other holiday plans.
  20. It appears you had lots of encouragement on the "friend" thread but I wanted to add to it if you don't mind. We all pay into the taxes that support the WIC program. Your husband works so therefore you paid your dues. We all fall on tough times and can use a little help now and then. I know people that only have one child and receive WIC assistance, food stamps, and other community help. You hold your head high that it took the fifth child for you to need a little help :o) Take care!

  21. I love CLE and am pleased they are updating the sight. I agree that there is so much more to them than what most people see at first glance. They are worth checking into!
  22. :iagree:This is us! We strive to meet those goals, follow the guidelines, etc. but we still fall short. I'm okay with it though because they are getting a good education and it is working for us.
