  1. I think I will. It costs $70 for them to look at it & determine what's wrong (which my friends company did for free). Maybe it will be worth it?
  2. I wasn't done typing. Anyway-she thinks it's bc its brand new model but she has never had it happen before. Of course. She said her guys can fix anything. When she called Asus they said they didn't have that part & to check Amazon ?? She googled it & only 1 hit in a foreign country came up. Very bizzare.
  3. We watched it & loved it. I am so sad for the loss of her voice! I want to watch the movie again now!
  4. Friend said we could try scrapping parts on eBay but it might be just as expensive as new laptop. DH is going to check it out though.
  5. Well I heard back from my friend and she can't find the replacement parts anywhere. She contacted Asus directly & they don't have them. I think we will get a cheap monitor & turn it into a desktop. I still feel sick about it. I could cry honestly. I may call Asus & best buy & complain that they sell something that can't be fixed.
  6. Yes! I have done this! I use google calendar now & type it in immediately upon receiving the info. And double check that I have right info.
  7. We co-sleep and I don't have the willpower it takes to night wean. And my dd is up every 2 hrs sometimes. She is 14 months old & my last baby so I have tried to embrace it. But I get so tired of the interrupted sleep. And DH is pressuring me to get her out of the bed. She gets hysterical if I don't nurse her! No advice-just commiserating.
  8. I am a former SLP and worked in public school for several years. I worked with only pre k, k, & 1st with some limited middle/high school experience. My child needs OT. I could go through the school & get it for free BUT I know the quality of therapy is just not on the same level as a private therapist. It's not that the OT (or ST) isn't qualified-it's just the way the school system works. I hated working for the school system. I felt like a much better therapist when I worked for a private company. I have applied for a form of supplementary insurance to help offset some of the cost. I would do some investigating & see if your state offers some kind of assistance. Look around for private therapist. Someone who specializes in your child's needs. I have an acquaintance who applied for a grant to get ABA for Her child. I don't know the details. She is a ST.
  9. I was born in 1980. I don't have the best memory of early school days but I do remember learning multiplication tables in 3rd grade. Definitely not before. I didn't go to pre-k and I don't remember having homework until 7th or 8th grade-and that was just some bigger project type things. In elementary we only had one kid that I know had special services. He had a hearing impairment. We had a big class-25-and there was an aide around to help the teacher. The teacher was with us te majority of the time (unlike today's teachers-at least in my area). Everyone's experience will be different I course. This is mine. I struggled with math in high school but did very well in college-although I only had to take algebra & psych stats. Maybe another course or two? I have struggled to teach math to my kids-I need hand holding! The public school parents I know hate common core math mainly bc they are expected to help kids at home but they have no clue how to help them. To the parents it doesn't make any sense.
  10. I will check out llbean bags-thanks! On above mentioned camping trip all our air mattresses deflated during the night. So we are going to upgrade those. And yes-they are cold so that's another layer of stuff to bring.
  11. Well-our current tent just barely fits us all so as soon as you step in you are on a bed. And SOME kids kept forgetting to take off shoes first. Oh and did I mention that it came a huge storm and the whole campsite was muddy. Like sink to your ankles muddy? Haha! So we had muddy blankets & sheets. If we upgrade our tent then this shouldn't be an issue I think.
  12. Thanks. I have a kitchen tub & camp supplies tub already. Good idea about space bags! I have some old blankets & sheets so I could just keep them packed... There was just so much bulk with all that bedding. And then washing it all when we got home.
  13. I am full of camping gear questions this week! We are upgrading & simplifying our gear. I tend to overpack & over plan & suck the fun right out of the trip for DH. In the past we have taken blow up mattresses, sheets, & blankets. I have never had or used a sleeping bag while camping. I like the idea of them but not sure they are useful. We only camp when it's warm. We also have 5 small kids so that's a lot of sleeping bags... So-should we invest in some sleeping bags or stick with air mattresses (I am upgrading these-thermarest I think) & blankets? What brand of sleeping bags should I consider?
  14. No. Wal Mart is only local option. I would have to drive more than 2 hours for a store like Costco
  15. Thanks for links & advice! I like the Kelty but not sure if it's big enough. I think the cabelas is a little beyond our price range. We have a few other supplies to buy.
  16. Thank you! That makes sense now. Do you know if it will fit in regular state/national park campsites? Do any of these monster tents fit in those sites?
  17. Thank you! I like the price of this one & good to know it held up well.
  18. That does look awesome! What exactly is the garage and vestibule attachments? And someone said you had to buy the fly but I can't find that info...
  19. I have already looked at that one & really liked it. Have you been through rain with it? Is it easy to set up?
  20. We want to purchase a nice tent for our large family. I want one that I can stand up in. We have 5 small kids plus 2 adults. Needs to be easy to set up. Can anyone recommend a tent or a brand even? I have looked on campmor website but there isn't much for 8+. Is there anothet website to visit?
  21. I live in the south & so many people I know give their kids sweet tea daily. I have seen bottles & sippy cups with sweet tea in them! I think it probably is better for you than soda but I don't think it should be served daily to kids.
  22. My kids get a sprite if we stop for fast food or a restaurant. I also let them choose sprite if it's being served at a party. I also do the same for myself with Coke. But I dont buy it to keep at home. My sister is the same with her kids. My DH's family is different. His nieces & nephews (6 kids total) drink at least one soda a day if not more (probably with every meal). His mom always has diet sodas on hand & if we go on an outing/party/camping/whatever with them I always bring a cooler of water bc they will only have sodas. I don't understand it but I am used to it now.
  23. I passed it off to my friend who is running diagnostics on it & looking into replacing the screen. She was having a hard time finding the screen online.
