  1. Talked to neurologist. She's competent to order the blood tests but hasn't ever had a patient with a channelopathy--pretty obviously. Doesn't see a medical need for an epidural. Thinks I should get a protocol in place with anesthesiologist ahead of time. Talked to perinatologist. Thinks OB/GYN is panicking for no reason. He had me dictate what I wanted into my file--HOORAY!--INCLUDING "No epidural unless requested." Haha! (He said he knows I know about my condition and what I need.) He said, "It's your third baby. Just do what you did before. If they don't mess with you, you should be fine." Uh-huh. And what was I saying? Good thing is, my OB/GYN thinks he hung the moon, so she'll go along with anything he says.
  2. I have a huge liquor/wine/vinegar cabinet, and it's all for cooking!!!!
  3. Whole cardamom (neither kind), whole vanilla beans, and candied ginger. Also fenugreek, mahlab, and juniper berries. All of these I've needed recently and not had.
  4. It is awkward but not agrammatical.
  5. Cook something you like and someone else in the house does, too. If they don't like what's served, they can make themselves a sandwich! They can cook their own breakfasts. My kids start microwaving oatmeal at 6 years old.
  6. If you see Christianity as part of "childhood wonder," then you see God like Santa Claus. There's nothing of value that was lost, then. A "logical mind" has nothing to do with believing in God or not. Until people STOPPED teaching logic, the evidence for God was considered so overwhelming by the educated that atheism was seen as a position that was extremely shaky from any rational perspective. Why on earth would he think that Cain and Abel, which predated Romulus and Remus in the written record for approximately 1000 years, ,would be a "ripoff" of R&R and not the reverse? That isn't logical. It's silly.
  7. I have 57 and just had to skip over two recipes that I wanted to try because I don't have all the spices they require!!!!

    Awwww....

My husband left me a little love note about something I did for him...six years ago, actually. It's something he uses all the time and was the first big purchase I made after we sold our old house and so weren't broke anymore. He never does things like that. It was super sweet!
  9. You shouldn't be putting much pressure on your brush! You could cause microtears in your skin. There are a number of reviews online comparing the two. The consensus is that they work equally well for cleansing. There really isn't anything specially about vibrating back and forth vs. a full spin.
  10. YES! We all came down with some sort of stomach bug. Got it from the next-door neighbors I HATE getting sick when pregnant. It knocks me out for so long, and I ALWAYS catch it, versus only occasionally when not pregnant. I guess the upside is that my baby is really, really safe from my nonexistent immune system? I can only think that those moms who have 6+ kids and homeschool must not get sick as easily while pregnant. I can't imagine how hard it would be to keep up with homeschooling being sick and pregnant sooooo much, and with a ton of kids to catch things from the community, it would just be that much rougher. (Of course, having a neighbor kid with a compromised immune system doesn't help! He brings home EVERYTHING.)
  11. Day 1 - Set up a donation and selling collection station for the items you declutter - guest bedroom closet, been there for years Day 2 - Create binder for household notebook - have one Day 3 - Create template for daily to do list that works have a routine Day 4 - Declutter or make place to store old Christmas cards had already ditched them
  12. If it's a religious claim.....what is she doing working as a nurse? Religions that reject vaccinations reject all medicine. Anyhow, assuming she really DOES have a religious objection, it doesn't keep her from being disqualified from the job. A Muslim can't expect to be kept on as a pet groomer where 90% of the business is grooming dogs because he won't touch dogs, or to be kept on as a checkout clerk if he refuses to check out any pork products.
  13. "Need to treat" numbers for heart medications are usually 150 or higher. Public health is about total number of incidences, not a single person's risk.
  14. For the reflux, the problem is often oversupply. Nurse on one side until it's empty, then switch. That may take 3-4 feedings if your supply is crazy.
  15. So, other people should pay for what you want to do because you really care about it? Responsible people should bear the weight of those who reject responsibility for "passion"? I should have worse medical coverage because John Smith over there should be free to pursue his dreams without having to worry about any of that messy insurance stuff? Sorry. Not buying into that here. How a person decides to run their finances within their own family is fine, but when you're asking others to pay for you because you just don't LOVE a job that makes enough money to be self-sufficient....NO.
  16. You get 2-5% back with credit cards. ALDI's is 15% cheaper than Wal-mart and 30% cheaper than the average grocery store. The math works out only one way.
  17. Flu season started early this year. More than 80% of cases match the strains caught by the vaccine. My kids got the flu, but I was vaccinated because of pregnancy, and I didn't.
  18. My babies have been small so far, fortunately, and I'm being seen by a massage therapist weekly who releases the muscles and makes it hurt less. I discovered that my sciatica is completely "cured" this way, and it isn't bpthering me. This is my hips subluxating out of their sockets. I'm trying to make sure I don't get a full dislocation!!!! They've been hurting since I was 10 weeks pregnant and getting worse. I'm only 24 weeks now, so I'm scared about how bad it's going to get. I often need help to get out of bed!
  19. Someone's SO needs a little crash course on what marriage means. Can't do anything about the BIL, but the DH would be in the BASEMENT until he figured out that he was expected to stand up for me.

    Mine came with a grater/slicer.
  21. Please, please tell me that if you've had major hip pain in pregnancy that it goes away after. First time, my abdominal wall separated. Last time, my pubic bones separated and ground together. This time, my hips are gone. Clearly, I'm not built for this baby-making!

That's the one I have. I buy flax meal, so I dunno. :)
  23. TONS of other generics do this. It depends on what is trademarked, but it almost never amounts to infringement. That's very costly.
  24. You either carry them or you abandon the cart and pull your car up next to it. When I got to the Asian grocery, I want 6 months of bulk supplies. I risk abandoning it for a moment.
