  1. We are using Growing with Grammar and DD complains because she doesn't know why we have to do grammar. I told her why SWB says it is so important... I get a "oh I hate grammar" when the book comes out, but she does it. We are taking it slow because I heard that it seems like you do the same thing every year... just all review.... so I got level 4 to use over two years. She is learning, will likely end up at the same level as if we had done two books and doesn't have a bunch of work/writing to do.
  2. Why are you thinking of dumping R&S for the youngest again?
  3. You are making my head hurt. I have to look at your pretty avatar.... there. all better.
  4. This is a common question. Help me tag this thread up so we can find it again. :)
  5. We used HOD Bigger, though not very successfully... We plan to use Sonlight in the future, so I am not sweating it. If American History was my main goal for HOD Bigger then I should have probably gone with The Complete Book of US History.
  6. When DD was doing the naked thing I put her in the play pen while I was mopping up the mess. That really cut down on the accidents. It really wasn't a punishment but a natural consequence. I couldn't have her in the way while cleaning it up. After I did it a couple of times out of need I figured out that it was helping to train her as well.
  7. Usually DH buys his own clothes. If he needs something specific and I am going to the store with a coupon he will tell me exactly what to get.
  8. I had to respond to both of these false statements. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! Ephesians 4:24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. 2 Corinthians 3:18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. Galatians 3:26-29 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. 1 Corinthians 12:13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Ephesians 2:18 Through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. 1 John 2:20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. 1 John 2:27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you.
  9. There are also dynamics that ruin a marriage. Dynamics that are taught. That can also be untaught... After being separated for a year. and finding out about these unhealthy relationship dynamics my husband and I are happier than ever and so in love that we inspire jealousy. We are also very wary of attending church at all and if they have a submissive wife/silent woman idea then we will not attend there. We don't want our daughter to end up in a destructive marriage dynamic that is taught in this way.
  10. Nice work on that last post on the KJV thread. Thumbs up lady!

  11. No I am saying that pastors and priests and popes have no more direct path to God than I do. Moses and Aaron and all of the other priests of the Old Testament were replaced by Jesus Christ and Him alone. Jesus said, "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you." --John 14 "For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father." --Ephesians 2:18
  12. So what? That's why we are to have a personal relationship with God and worship Him in Spirit ourselves, not believe Mr. Whakadoo has the Spirit and go off and follow him. John 4:24 Plus there are checks and balances in place for this. 1 John tells us to test the spirits. Galatians tells us what will result from the Spirit. You keep turning this into a church. I am not talking about a church. Jesus says "come to me" "follow me" "learn from me" "get under my yoke with me". 1 John 2:27 says that the Spirit teaches us individually. Philippians 2:12 does not say to search out the True Church and become a member, it says "work out your salvation with fear and trembling".
  13. 1 Corinthians 1:10 "Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment." Now what did Paul mean? That we must agree on everything? That a church needs to set up some rules for all to follow? Unity at all cost? Reading Romans 14 negates that idea.
  14. I am very surprised to see that question. The true church is Christ's Bride and Christ's Bride are all of those indwelt by His Spirit. Romans 8:9 I do believe that there are Catholic and Orthodox Christians included in this. We can sometimes tell who is, but can't always judge who isn't, but it doesn't really matter, as we are called to love all, and follow Christ alone. 1 Timothy 2:5; Philippians 2:12 I am also surprised to see Because every believer is led by the Holy Spirit, therefore I do not see the pastor himself as a position of authority. I actually commented on a facebook group that I do not see the Catholic and Orthodox churches as having a "golden calf", like the other person commenting, but rather like when Israel asked for a king. It was not God's preferred arrangement, but He did allow it. I was very pleased to see someone with more Christian experience than me comment on this thread... to see that comment was even better. :) I do not believe that everyone receives salvation. Luke 12:46; Matthew 25:41; Revelation 21:8

  16. Emily finished her math at 10:45 PM yesterday. I have been feeling like a failure if she isn't finished with school by the time her dad gets home (between 3 and 4). You know what I realized? When I was in Public School I often finished all of my homework at about that same time. (10 pm)
