  1. LOL this one has been on my mind for quite some time (probably since I tried to give more positive feedback but got the "spread it around" message :) so when I got the "blue" rep it jogged my mind. I'm with you though Jill- it's clear as mud:)
  2. Thanks Julie, I'm waiting to hear back from them before we register - but I'll keep that in mind. I have to see when her other classes meet but that one is a big possibility :)
  3. I've just gotten my first "blue" reputation - everything else was green - what does that mean? :)
  4. I don't understand why we have to "share the wealth" in reputation - it seems like a soccer team where everybody wins a trophy. Let's face it, there are people who post here who either a) make me laugh, b) make me smile or c) make me think, sometimes all 3 - in just about anything they post. I would LOVE to acknowledge their input regardless of what I've done in the past.
  5. I was going to cut and paste the first part, then the second part as well - nah, I'll just say I agree with all of this :) :)
  6. My first thought would be to ask him what he'd like to take. Then since he wants to major in engineering, advanced chemistry would be a logical choice. Maybe talk to people about possible teachers at the cc - that might influence your choice. Or look into online courses? just some thoughts. :)
  7. :rolleyes:We currently have two of them, the 83 Plus and the 84. Agreeing with the other responses, if he'll take more higher math, I would get the most current model you can afford.
  8. We're voting early on Saturday and I *still* haven't decided what to do, sigh. (at the moment I'm leaning toward Paul but I still have that nagging fear of "throwing away my vote" blah blah blah).
  9. Oh your post just made me smile. If we can't enjoy being together when it works - and everybody has a good time - we lose one of the largest advantages of homeschooling. Enjoy your time together :) and don't worry about "making it up"
  10. Yep, you never forget your first time, do you? :) My first win was a set of "Picturesque Tale of Progress" books - it was June of 2001 :)
  11. I heard SWB speak a few years ago and she strongly suggested not going into debt for college - the reason being that once students are out of school, they are more likely to feel "stuck" in a job they don't like, just to repay their student loans. I agree with something in-state for a few years, if your ds has his heart set on this particular school.
  12. THanks Julie! I can't remember whether she'll do II or III - maybe they'll be in "class" together :)
  13. wow that's nuts. We're using Drivers Ed in a Box, and going very slowly. My dd spent a year driving in an empty parking lot (local cc) on Saturday afternoons.
  14. It's easier (kinda) when the children are older. they're not as physically demanding and can do more for themselves.
  15. my dd didn't like to read to herself till she was about 10. SHe would do it but only the bare minimum. She loved to be read to all the time - I think maybe she was afraid I would quit reading to her :) Now at 16 she reads at least 2 hours per day between her assigned book and her "fun" book. She carries a book with her every time she gets in the car.
  16. I agree. We had books from all over the house in the same box. I'm not sure they would insure the move the same way if you packed some yourself - but that's an interesting idea!
  17. Has anybody used VP's Scholars Online? Thoughts? Specifically we're looking at Omnibus and PreCal, maybe Physics and Composition. Thanks so much.
