  1. If you want to try to memorize scripture, try Steve Green's CD Hide Em in Your Heart or Seeds Family Worship. They both work. Even the Westminster Catechism has been put to music....Diana Beach Batarseh has a few albums called Ask Me Whooo which is the catechism sung to music. We listen to Seeds Family Worship for a few weeks, then I review the Bible verses with my son with repetition.
  2. I highly recommend this book. I set up a few reward charts 1-20, 20-40, 40-60, 60-80 and 80-100. I set up mini-rewards for every chart/20 lessons completed (pizza/movie night, trip to favorite jumpee place, cheap toy etc.) Mini-rewards helped my son stay motivated with the material. This change made a "night and day" difference with my child. He now asks to do his lessons. I also made sure that I used LOTS of verbal praise, high fives, call family members to tell them how many he completed etc. He also LOVES to show his g-parents what he is learning!
  3. I am presently finishing up TYCR100 lessons with my 5 year old. He is very bright and a fast learner. I know that in the back of the book it states that once you are finished go through certain books to improve their reading skills. What do you suggest that I start right after I finish the book list? All About Spelling, First Language Lessons, Spelling Power, anything else? Should I be concerned about phonograms? Is he really going to be at a second grade reading level? :bigear: My goal is to help him to become a fluent reader while teaching basic grammar and spelling. I just want to make sure he has a strong foundation phonetically etc. to build on. Thanks, cabreban
  4. I think I may go with this list. Seasoned home schoolers please encourage me or dissuade me over any of my choices. Is this too much "to tackle" or too little? Please be opinionated :bigear: BTW, I am close to completing TYCTR100EZ lessons. Spelling Power :bigear: Singapore Math :bigear: First Language Lessons :bigear: Leading Little ones to Christ :bigear: Handwriting without Tears :bigear: Classical Conversations Memory Work CD Cycle 1 (at home not in the co-op) :bigear: Living books for history and science :bigear: Ok I know I added a lot of the big ear pictures but I really want to hear your opinions
  5. Hi, I am new to homeschooling. I started teaching my 5 year old with TYCR100EZ lessons. I am getting ready to start Singapore Math. I am considering the Scrambled States of America and Spelling Power. Can you tell me your FAVORITE curriculum choices and why? I would love to have some recommendations. I am also thinking about using the classical conversations cd as a supplement (not actually attend cc). Advice?:) BTW, I would LOVE to find a great curriculum to teach my child Spanish. I know very little spanish myself, but my DH is Puerto Rican.
