Anyone have experience with the Now! Program? PLEASE SHARE! My dyslexia professional friends say that it is not evidence-based. Dr. Conway (of NOW! and The Morris Center) states that OG is not evidence-based and his program was tested through double blind peer-reviewed research. My friend whose mom is a neuropsychologist said it was not the highest level of research backing. They state that Lindamood-bell is the only program really backed by solid research. My 8 year old daughter has dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, auditory processing issues, sensory issues, ADHD, speech language issues and visual processing issues. I am overwhelmed. I have a background with children with disabilities but I am overwhelmed because of the emotional aspect of this all. I have come to the realization that she is a severe to profound dyslexic (double deficit)with a constellation of challenges. She has left right discrimination issues, visual tracking, working memory issues and phonemic awareness. Her fluency is poor at best 52 CWPM for rehearsed text and worst 32 CWPM on novel text. Some days I think she is learning to read well and some days she is guessing, reversals etc. WHAT SHOULD I DO? My math curriculum works but AAR and AAS do not seem like enough for the learning to stick at this point. She learned some words (233 fluently) but we hit a wall. This is what I have done: OT for 2 years + school OT SLP for 3 years + school SLP Vision therapy for visual attention 6 months Brain beat 2 months Pulled her out of school to homeschool her: 100 easy lessons (dumped it) Saxon 1 (dumped it no number sense) All about reading 1-2 (started 3) All about spelling 1 (started 2) Math-U-See Alpha (started Beta) Earobics step 1 Choir (with music instruction) Art class Theatre class Dance class Lots of audio books on Learning Ally Handwriting without tears (I am a COTA)

I am considering Dyslexia Center of Ga. They state in 40 lessons that they can help kids with dyslexia advance years. I am skeptical. What do you think? I have a child with dyslexia and dyscalculia. She is being homeschooled by a tutor using an OG based curriculum. Do you have any suggestions for apps to support her learning? We have completed 9 sessions of brain beats and 5 more to go. I have to say it is a good program. It is complementary not a miracle. It is worth a shot though. I will give you a true complete review when she (LD and ADHD) has completed it. My son is also completing it (neurotypical).

I have been searching online for a great app to use when we are "out and about" with her to make wise use of the time. She has issues with prepositions, proper use of he or she as well as processing speed when asked questions. ***PLEASE do not tell me how simple this is to remediate. My child has a learning issue where these things do not come easy to her no matter HOW MANY times I review with her. She has a significant developmental delay. I am just trying to reach her and teach her in as many ways as possible. **** BTW, we are in therapy for Occupational and Physical therapy. Thanks, Courtney

She had just eaten chicken nuggets and apple juice. No she was not sick. This was a well- child check up where I came with a "laundry list" of concerns. We found out she has ataxia, hypotonia, developmental delays and a speech delay. I just want to make sure I did not miss something. Her neurologist saw the results and did not flag anything.

My daughter had a CBC panel done a few months ago. The pediatrician's office called me to tell me that her test was normal Today I picked up her labs for an upcoming specialist appointment. My 4 year old daughter's blood glucose level (non-fasting) was 175. The range shown for the lab for normal is 70-99. Is her blood glucose level concerning? I tried searching through google and I get contradicting information.

Btw, she was diagnosed mid-October. I am new to all of this. Originally, I thought she had a defiance issue and sensory processing disorder. Right now I am teaching her more montessori style since it is multi-sensory. I have been praying and thinking about earrobics and The Listening Program as well as vision therapy/computerized. Thank you for the input. I am experimenting with my daughter. Asking her to do something or perform does not work for her. Asking for her to help me with a puzzle or for me to "get the answer wrong answer" and she corrects me works right now. She touches everything but picks up songs very easily. I think the touching is having to do with being sensory seeking. She may be auditory or she may just love to sing. Not sure how being an auditory learner and having speech issues correlate (expressive and articulation). Really at this point. I do not know. I am just trying to use as many of the senses as I can when I teach. Not sure if it is working.... I would not mention foreign language, but my husband is bilingual. He is originally from Puerto Rico and my in-laws speak Spanish and English but they are teaching the kids some Spanish. I am in a fog right now not really knowing how to serve my daughter. I have some fear of the unknown (exacerbated by a PT who said to me "I am curious about the underlying condition").

Any good or bad experiences with naturopaths working with a neurological issues?

My child has developmental delays in expressive speech, articulation, fine motor, some SPD ( mostly vestibular and proprioception). She has weakness in her right side. We are in the process of finding out the underlying condition (mitochondrial, chromosomal etc). Right now she has a diagnosis of mild cerebellar ataxia (uncoordinated muscle movement), mild hypotonia ( low tone) , articulation and expressive language delay along with proprioception and vestibular dysfunction. Really I would love to hear about your child's challenges and what worked for you ( or what did not work).

I know every child is different. My concern about curriculum is that my child has some vestibular/proprioception dysfunction, speech delay (1 year) and fine motor skill delay (9 months). I think I just do not want to push her, but I do not want to waste time. Not sure if that makes sense. I have heard with children with issues with vestibular/proprioception issues should not learn to read too early until this issue is taken care of. Not sure if I am right.

Any program or curriculum really work for your special needs child? Any educational style/philosophy work for special needs child: montessori, waldorf, classical etc.?
