  1. My son (5) is crazy about dinosaurs. He loves learning facts from Dino Dan. Do you know of a great dino encyclopedia or big book that can last him more than a couple of years? I have looked at amazon reviews, but I am just not sure.
  2. I have had some funny things happen with the line pregnancy test. I really do like to pay extra to get the "pregnant"/"not pregnant" test.
  3. I agree that sassy spray may be a little extreme for our household. I do disagree that she does not know what she is doing at 2.5 though. I do not hold her to the same level of accountability that I hold my 5 year old to. My 2.5 year old is strong willed. The problem is, I ask her to do something (in caveman :)) and she screams, "I don't want to". I think that tells me that she knows what I am asking her to do. Also I ask her to follow 2 step commands and she does it to a T. I think correcting her may be the way to go as well as timeout in her bedroom for temper tantrums. 2 wise pieces of advice that I got from my Children's Minister: "Little people, little problems. Big People, big problems." And "Either they cry now, or you cry later." Thanks ladies for the advice
  4. I have a 2.5 year old who talks back to me or yells at me. She speaks in a rude and disrespectful manner. Sometimes you cannot understand her. Often times it is followed by a temper tantrum. Someone mentioned to me using sassy spray (vinegar and water spray in the mouth) for discipline. Is this overboard? What would you do?
  5. Wow, both programs seems intense. How do you do it? How much time do you school your children with both programs? Maybe I do not understand the intensity of both programs.....
  6. :bigear: I have been thinking the same thing!
  7. we do MM. I also play lots of games with him to practice and make math fun.
  8. :iagree:Also you can download pdf books or convert them. Enjoy! oooo, and have you started borrowing books from the library on the nook?
  9. My child is a visual learner and then secondary a kinesthetic learner. He learns well with songs (as I think most of us do :001_smile:) So which do you think would be a good pick? :bigear:
  10. :glare:Thought there might be some parents who used Phonics Road in the past. They might have more insight on the benefits, outcome etc. than even the K-8 group.
  11. 1. Can you tell me what the expected outcome after finishing PR? 2. Were your children motivated to do their work or did you have to "drag them kicking and screaming" :)? 3. My concern is that it is boring or confusing. Is that true? 4. What should be my expectations coming into this curriculum? 5. Did you use additional reading for your children? 6. Is this really a comprehensive Language arts curriculum? 7. Which type of homeschool mom would be successful using this program? 8. Would you use this again? Just wanted to get the advice from a veteran homeschooler before I "commit" to this curriculum! :tongue_smilie:

  13. Ok, I finally looked at Phonics Road to Writing and Reading. It is very appealing since it seems to give a strong foundation in the language arts. I am concerned it may be too rigid for a K-1st grader, or for me :) For PR: 1. What should be my expectations going into Level 1? 2. Does the curriculum include readers, read-aloud material or suggested readings? Should I add additional reading material? 3. How long should I expect to work on this with my son each day? Is it complicated? 4. Once Level 4 is completed, what should be the expected outcome? For All About Spelling Fans: 1. Do you think that AAS will give my child an adequate foundation? 2. Do I need to add FLL or WWE to this program to "round out the program"? 3. Can you suggest a good reading list for a K-1st grader?
  14. Ok, I have heard so many GREAT things about All About Spelling. It kind of seems expensive to me. Spelling Power always appealed to me since I only had to buy 1 spelling book for K-12. Can you tell me more about All About Spelling? 1.) Is it a phonics program as well as a spelling program? 2.) IF I decide to get AAS, what should I get? 3.) Would this be a good program after finishing TYCTR100EZ lessons (and reading the suggested books)? 4.) Any other suggestions for a good spelling/phonetic program?
