  1. Based on what your son has read, these might be on the easy side. But my dc have really enjoyed them. Mice of the Westing Wind books by Tim Davis. There are five books in the series. The Brambly Hedge series (picture books) by Jill Barklem. This series has 8 books I believe. Graham Oakley wrote a whole series about the Church Mice. These are also picture books.
  2. No. I was asked to join but at the time I just wasn't interested.
  3. Last year I spent about $1300 for curriculum. This is for 2 elementary age dc. This year I am trying to be a little more careful. I have gotten into the habit of overbuying, and consequently have quite a few "shelfwarming" items. I would like to sell the excess but don't have enough posts yet to do that here!
  4. In the Pacific Northwest, we called it hamburger.
  5. Trader Joe's. It works well in my HE washer, it's cheap, a box lasts a long time, and no one in my house is allergic to it.
  6. I like the Great Brain books; I read them as a child. My dc listened to several of them on CD during car trips and enjoyed them.
  7. The only way my dc and I can cook together is if only one child at a time is allowed to cook with me. When they are both involved, they spend most of their time complaining about who gets to do what -- "Hey, she got to put in the flour! It's *my* turn to stir!" So one of them will work with me to make tonight's dessert. The other one will have to wait for a different opportunity.
  8. I did something similar for my dd. Saxon 5/4 has a handy flow-chart diagram; I borrowed the book and copied the diagram onto an index card so she had a handy reference.
  9. I run for an hour, 3 days a week. I do a strength training video for 45 minutes, 3 days a week, and the seventh day is my day off. Sometimes I walk on the strength training or off days, but not lately.
