  1. AWESOME! LOLOLOL...Now, if I can get my ds to realize that I taped that on the door....:D
  2. I have suffered from migraines for years and lately, mine have developed into hemiplegic migraines. (they mimic a stroke) SCARY! If there is something out there, trust me Ive tried it. This is what helps for me... (not a doctor, this is just what works for me) Depending on the severity of the pain when it starts, I either... Caffeine actually helps migraines so if she likes coffee, have her drink a cup. At this point if it is NOT a full blown migraine attack, and more like a bad headache, I drink the coffee and also take 2 tylenol and 2 aleve. (two different meds and they work differently so its okay to take at the same time) If I know we are heading toward a migraine, I take 2 benedryl and 2 aleve. (I learned this from my last ER visit for a migraine) The benedryl actually settles things down and relaxes the blood vessels that usually causes the migraine. I also combine this with compazine that was prescribed by the doc if the benedryl alone doesnt work. But usually just the benedryl is enough. If it starts out severe, and I know I have reached the point of no return, I go straight for my prescription migraine meds and/or the prescription pain meds. If I get no relief and start to go numb...its off the the ER. Sometimes, I mix and match which route I take just from experience with what has helped me in the past. Oh and I use an Ice pack or those "Be-Kool" patches for children with fevers and it seems to help while Im waiting for the meds to kick in. I feel for her. I will keep her in my prayers and I hope she can find some relief, its a horrible pain. :grouphug:
  3. This is what my son does! He is now 10 and it doesnt happen as often. (Not going thru puberty yet) He is oblivious to any type of privacy. I would be in my room changing with the door closed and he will bust in to have a conversation and if he even noticed that I was changing he would cover his eyes and bounce around the room(depending on what he ran into) and keep on a goin' with what ever it was that he needed to tell me. We have 1 bathroom and if he needs to go, he has no shame coming in and standing right in front of you to tell you...LOL. Even when he is taking a shower, he will call me in and just want to talk if something is on his mind. We dont have a curtain, but we have glass sliding doors and he could care less. We have never made nudity an issue and I encourage open talk about our bodies to him. He just isnt too interested in it all yet and when he starts to mature, Im sure his "lack of privacy" will change. I remember when he was little, if a woman had a bikini on he would say "ahhh, shes naked, my eyes, they burn..." Its just not a big issue in our house. My best friend has a huge issue with being anything less than fully clothed in front of her kids. Her son is to the point where he has developed a fear of people seeing him in swim trunks or naked at the doctors. So, saying all of that, I think there are extremes on the "is nudity okay" spectrum and somewhere in the middle is just right...LOL. I think your situation is okay, just keep making sure she is not uncomfy and you will be fine. Oh, and Im totally for the family bed, but I only have one child so it works. Over the last year or so my son has finally been sleeping in his bed more than ours. My major concern as was his doctors, was that everyone was getting a good nights sleep, could care less which bed it was in.
  4. Hahaha...good, Im so glad you laughed. I was worried that throwing some humor into it may upset you more. That is usually the only thing that can pull me out of hard times. :grouphug:
  5. Go wrap your self up in wrapping paper and stick a bow on your head and hop to your hubby with out falling over. Tell him your his Christmas present. Maybe that is just want you need....laughter is the best medicine!
  6. How awful! My heart goes out to you guys. My family was very opposed to me homeschooling but I stood my ground and they are coming around. Dont tolerate it. When it comes up again, just explain that this is the choice you have made and if they ever have any questions and would like to discuss homeschooling like adults then you will be happy to answer any questions. Until then, dont talk about it. Tell them "unless you want to contribute to my kids "lack of socialization" by not being involved in their lives from this point forward, I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself." :001_smile: If they continue, I would stop seeing them as much. I know they are family, and hopefully they would come around but your kids are your kids and only you know what is best for them. Keep your head up. :grouphug:
  7. Wow, you must have some jump! ;) Thankful your okay, your angel was with you tonight! Its amazing what the Lord can lift us out of!
  8. Dating at 16, he was 21 and just out of the Marine Corps. Married at 17 he was 22. Had our son about a year after that. We just had our 11th anniversary in August! Yay!
  9. Thank you for that. Im sitting here quietly bawling my eyes out. I am on an emotional over load right now. Ive stayed strong all day for my son and hubby. My son would always horse around with Emilio everytime he saw him and he is so confused right now. We are dealing with so much, my hubby's mother got hit by a car this month and is on life support, his grandfather who raised him is very ill and may not be with us much longer, and now the news on Emilio. My heart is breaking. I am a firm believer that God wont give you more than you can handle...but I feel like Im melting.
  10. I kinda feel bad for posting this thread. I so appreciate all the prayers and thoughts and support from you all. I am truly sorry for sharing such a sad situation expecially during the holidays. Please forgive. Thank you all again! :grouphug:
  11. AHHHH...I totally screwed up the cookies! I followed the recipe exactly and they came out flat! Tomorrow around noon is when we are doing the gift exchange at my parents...LOL. Now, with no cookies, I have alot to do until then. Heres to waiting till the last minute...:cheers2:. Thank you for all the ideas...I will be checking out everyone of them. LOL.
  12. Oh crud. Its expired as well. Urg....it looks so perfect though...LOL. Do you know anything else that would work in its place?
  13. Yay...Im not alone...LOL. Does anyone know is shortening goes bad? I just found some in the back of my pantry...its probably been open for atleast a year. However, it is pure white and doesnt smell bad...do you think its safe to use?
  14. I am making home-made gifts for presents and I was curious what anyone else is making. I made hard lotion today and am about to start cookies that will go into Christmas tins. I was thinking about one more easy thing...LOL
  15. All I know is that they are arranged to spell google...lol
  16. Ha...we never really finished a complete year either. It seems we have been jumping around. We did however start in September this year and if we are at 15-20%...I would be excited! We are probably just around the 10-15% though so we are starting over in January! Woo Hoo!
  17. I agree with the pp's. If you try to "run her off", you will be running her off with him right along beside her. Even if he is only 15. Have her over and embrace her, you can supervise and be a positive role model. Be clear what your expectations are and your values but honestly give her a chance. She may just surprise you in the end. ;)
  18. He left at 630 and was to be right back...then her neighbor friend texted her to let her know that there was a strange man in the neightborhood. She looked out her window and saw a sweetbay grocery bag. The bag had the receipt from sweetbay where Emilio just went. So, he came back home around 730 but didnt make it in the house. He made it close to the porch but then was forced back into the car...per the police. No one heard from him since until the new info tonight.
  19. We have just been notified that his vehicle and a body have been discovered. They are expecting the body to be Emilios. It literally is 5 mins from our house. We have passed by the lot where they found him about 15 times since he has become missing. Poor Kaycee has been rushed to the ER with cramping and pain. Please keep her in your prayers, this was the worst possible outcome.
  20. Nope, I told you it would shock you! Its "La dash uh" You actually say the DASH!!! I didnt even try to pronounce it, all I asked was "how do you pronounce her name?" She totally flipped out on me. Sorry beaners, we posted at the same time...you were right...you got it!
  21. I cant even pronounce "Sha-dynasty" LOL I think I probably would have done the same thing. hahaha...that reminds me...once I pronounced Leonard as "Leo-nard" I realized it once I said it and apologized and thankfully he just laughed at me.
  22. My name is common but not hugely popular. Its Colleen. Everyone spells it with an i, a, y... I find it funny and it is usually a good ice breaker and an opening to conversation. Growing up and still till this day my father pronounces it "Ko-leen" and my mom "Call-een" LOL. I am all about uniqueness and creativity. I love seeing unique names. However, with that said...if you choose to name your child some funky, weird spelling name, you HAVE to accept the outcome of your decision. You WILL be explaining the name/spelling/pronunciation, you totally ask for it. I dont think its the spelling or the unusual names as the problem, perhaps its the attitude of the people who chose the name when asked to clarify. Ive only come across one really really upset person when I didnt pronounce her daughters name correctly. How would you pronounce this? You are going to be shocked! La-a
