  1. I do keep a pretty decently stocked medicine box, but also limit it to shoebox size so that I don't accumulate too much. So, we always have things like the various pain relievers/fever reducers, sinus/allergy stuff, tummy stuff, and cold/cough stuff. Then we have a few Rx things, those of course we can't stock up on. And I have a shoebox of first aid stuff as well, which has all of the band-aids, wraps, ointments, itch cream, gauze/tape, etc. For expiration dates....when we were in Brazil, we didn't toss anything and just kept using it. Now we try to go with maybe 2-3 yrs at the most (DH would rather a year max but that feels wasteful to me). It helped when everyone finally learned to swallow pills and we could quit keeping chewables of everything on hand in addition to the grown-up stuff, but I do like to have some of everything just in case something hits in the middle of the night and someone needs something. (then again, I'm the same person that also takes a whole mini medicine cabinet when we so much as go away for the weekend, so maybe I'm not the one to ask about this....).
  2. @ScoutTN, hugs to your DD; I hope the mail does cheer her up some. And that the boy is not too grumpy having lacrosse cancelled. @HomeAgain, that's a big win, not a small one! yes, take it. Hearing those kind things about our kiddos from others, even if we think "well, I'm glad *someone* gets to see the good kid side of them....", is still a huge thing! yay! My day today: ...coffee ...gather all my school expenses for 2023 so DH can put that in the taxes ...help gather all my income data (he can check the bank account for that one) for 2023 so DH can put that in the taxes ...find where I put all the "here's what you need to know for graduation" papers for DS ...once I find it, start gathering pictures for his slide show ...make sure I have the correct info on how to get his song choice ...start working on our parent blessing write-up blurb thing ...see if there is any other piece I'm missing (senior bio? I think??) and do that too (all the grad stuff is due March 1st.....) ...load my school bag for next week - I'll be gone all weekend, so need to do this today ...check if I have week-after-next prepped; if not, work on that so I stay "ahead" (we'll be gone all the following weekend, too, so....) ...if I finish all of that, work on the next bit of quilting ...research the stabilizers I need, figure out what I want, find where to buy that (my local quilt shop closed, so...?) ...make sure I have everything prepped for tutoring today, go tutor ...come home, eat dinner (DH is cooking - something unknown, plus asparagus which was on sale) ...make sure we have everything prepped for fencing, go to fencing -- my dad is in town, so going to join us and observe/hang out ...come home, go to bed Should be a good day; busy, but good, as long as I stay on track!
  3. okay, tested the machine lettering/embroidery, and realized - duh, I need a stabilizer of some sort. So, looking into that, but otherwise think it will work well. I figured out how to make spaces between words at least. Ha! got the baby quilt basted & started the quilting -- got the focus quilting done on the leaves. Stopping there b/c my shoulder is tired. Going to find some electronic chores to do while DH is still working, so I can sit down here and keep him company & be productive. Not the taxes yet, though, 'cause I need more brain power for that. Ha!
  4. Okay, figured out the schedule & costs; already have a base idea for teaching 3rd grade (made proposals a while ago for that), so that is done. If this works out, it would be amazing. Heading up to work on quilt stuff; DH and the kids are going for a walk/run.
  5. Hi all -- popping in after co-op to make a list and hopefully stick to it. First up -- at co-op, talked with a parent about private tutoring/teaching their kiddo for next year. So, "figure out exactly what that would look like & cost them" so I can discuss w/them in detail next week. This would be incredible if it works out (the dad said at pick-up "I talked to my wife; she loves it, you're hired" -- I told him lets work out cost/pay/etc but he insists "Nope, you're hired" so we'll see; I'm super excited about this possibility!). So, the list: ...figure out private teaching plans for next year - what to charge, curriculum, times, etc. (at least a base to start from) ...head up and do the practice text on textile piece for the next quilt project ...if that gets done, do the real piece ...if that gets done, baste the baby quilt so it's ready for quilting ...if there happens to at all still be time, start quilting ...get ready for/go take DS to church (who is in charge of dinner??? not sure...figure that out) ...grocery shop, pick up DS ...come home, veg out....probably a Forged in Fire night ...go to bed I think that will do it - sometime soon, but not today, I need to start gathering all my tax stuff for DH. Not today.
  6. So, what we have right now are two things. In our master bath, we have one big room that is the bathroom; in it, there is a linen closet, a bathtub w/shower, across from that a long counter with a sink. On the same wall as the tub is a little doored toilet closet, so someone can use the bathroom in privacy, someone else can be showering or brushing teeth, or walk through to the closet, etc. Since that's me & DH, that works. In the upstairs bathroom, which access 3 bedrooms, it's a large "room" that has an outside door, that section has a long counter with 2 sinks, then there's a door to the next section. Inside that section is the bathtub, linen closet, and not walled off or separated toilet. This lets 2 people be brushing teeth, and one person in the toilet OR the shower, but if one is in use, both are out of commission (b/c brothers are not willing to let someone in to use the toilet while they are in the shower). If somehow the little toilet room could be maybe a thing you pass through to get to the shower, or sort of adjacent so that you had the toilet area between the sink area & shower area, but where all 3 could be used at the same time, that would be divine. I don't know if that exists. I think I'd want wall & curtain, not glass (or if glass, a way to put a curtain also), b/c thinking of the different combos of people that would be using the shower while someone else needed to get into the toilet room.....the person in the shower, unless it is just spouses, is going to be unlikely to want someone else seeing them/able to see them. But I'm just daydreaming here, not sure if that is a possiblity or not.
  7. Double sinks on the outside part. And if the toilet room is separate from the shower room, so much the better. But double sinks outside allows people to be brushing teeth, etc., while someone else is showering &/or using the bathroom.
  8. got the laundry folded - whew. Waiting on DH, then we'll go to dinner, come home, veg out.
  9. home from tutoring - went pretty well forgot about laundry....will fold clothes/watch TV while I wait on DH to get home
  10. Well, with the morning running long, then helping DS with homework, then taking the nap....no sewing. BUT, DS did his pscyh test, and got a 93! yay! Got everything ready for tutoring, so heading there shortly, then when I'm done and DH is back from a fencing lesson, we'll head out for DS's bday dinner.
  11. Home from PreK and the store (got a text that Oldest had meds ready) - PreK was a rough morning, but we got through it. Eating lunch, checking on some of DS's work, and then taking a nap.
  12. Nice job on the painting, Amy! Got the PreK stuff done, heading out.
  13. Good morning! Today's day: ...coffee ...prep for & go do PreK with the 4 yr old ...come home, make sure DS is studying for his Psych exam, which must be taken today ...while he does that, do a test run on the text portion of the "text on textiles" quilt - I'm going to use the machine to embroider the verse, but I need to test it on practice fabric and get the sizing, spacing, etc. right ...if I finish the test piece on time, go ahead and do the real piece ...prep for afternoon tutoring & go do that ...dinner will be dinner out -- DS turns 19 today....crazy. ...after that, come home, veg out, watch TV - DH and I have one more episode of Bass Reeves so probably that. I think that's about it. Have a great day everyone!
  14. Continuing to pray, @LifeLovePassion! I'm so sorry they won't diagnose/your eldest is still struggling. Got the food set for D&D, went to fencing, went by a leather shop to get bolo tie making supplies (I picked out a piece at my grandma's that is a bolo, without the tie), came home, ate lunch, napped, showered. Now DH, Oldest & I are going to watch a movie, and I'm going to dye the leather for the bolo tie. Gah! Wish me luck! Did not get any sewing done, but maybe this evening or else tomorrow.
  15. Popping on! Today we have: ...coffee -- done ...grocery store for a few things for D&D snacks -- done ...go to fencing ...come home, nap?? ...do the leaves for the baby quilt, maybe start quilting it ...or maybe do the text on the next part of the "text in quilts" quilt ...later on, veg out w/DH ...tidy away a few things ...text Grandma, see if we can come down on Friday and if she minds if I stay the weekend next weekend (my Dad & Sister will be there too) ...I think that's all for today
  16. Chatted w/DH and feel a lot better. He cooked, dinner was good, now time to veg out.
  17. Home from Grandma's; she's closing her art gallery after 53 years, next week is the last day, and it was sad seeing it nearly empty. Like a kind of grief. Heading out to take Middle to their appt. Need to check w/DH about dinner...
  18. Okay, sent all of 1st grade to the printer, now just to wait for it to catch up. Finishing breakfast, getting dressed, etc., and I'll gather all of that before I head out. Have a great day!
  19. Got the next week ahead printed for K, I think I can get 1st done as well before time to go.
  20. good morning! Finished my grading last night while DH napped before watching TV together (and then he went back to bed, and I watched Grey's). So yesterday's list - done! Yay! Today I have: ...coffee ...do some prep ahead stuff maybe? I'd like to get another week buffer, but I have only an hour this morning, so....? ...get dressed, eat breakfast, maybe pack some snacks, and then head to Grandma's for the day ...come home in time to take Middle to an appt this afternoon ....dinner will be......???? Maybe stop and grab something on the way home from the appt so no one has to cook ....hang out/veg out with the family Nice light day, and long overdue for visiting Grandma; I *really* hope to improve on this in the near future....it's hard. Even with her hearing aids, she only hears me about half or 3/4s of the time, b/c my voice is in some register/key that is hard to hear. So, that's just depressing. :sigh: Anyway, that's my day. Happy Friday, everyone!
  21. Correction, DH is still feeling bad, so we will stay home tonight so he can rest. Gotta admit I'm not sad about that.
  22. home from tutoring - that went well texted grandma, set to go visit tomorrow eating/prepping for fencing, etc.,
  23. Oh! laundry...running up to hang/dry the wool stuff (thanks, @mom31257! I'd have forgotten!!) Helped DS with his pscyh assignment; he had roughly 3/4ths done already on his own, so helped him tweak one section, and then helped him walk through the final section that was giving him trouble. Not feeling like cleaning off the ironing table/area to do the fusing, so going to goof off until time to go tutor.
  24. napped put the wool stuff in the wash put away the clean laundry grabbing a quick snack and helping DS with psych
