  1. Took care of some electronic chores -- our co-op switched to an electronic system for registration, payments, etc. which seemed great at first (it's much easier for the parents and the registrar) but I've discovered some gaps/flaws/things it's not good at keeping track of, so creating some files for my personal record keeping for next year - I've got 5 students so far between the 3 classes, plus 1-3 for an extra class I'm doing on my own. About on par for this time of year! Put away the laundry as well Now time to tackle the actual list....
  2. Prayers for today to be better, Chris. I'm sorry yesterday was more bad than good.
  3. Good morning! Today I have: ...coffee ...load bag for next week ...school prep ahead for K, 1st, 2nd ...put away the laundry that was folded on Tues and left in a basket (my fault) ...remember to put dinner in the crockpot on time (DH prepped it, but it only needs a bit to cook; he'll be gone when it's time to put it in) ...make sure I have some things to do with the kids today at tutoring ...make sure DS knows what all he needs to work on this weekend (DH & I leave tomorrow for a weekend tournament in Dallas) ...somewhere in there, get a nap ...go tutor ...come home, eat dinner, go to fencing ...come home, go to bed
  4. got my tutoring stuff printed, then mom texted to ask could we move it to tomorrow - yes, sure will work on some quilt stuff instead then
  5. Did the PreK - we picked the April date, and will set the rest after that; it went really well DS is on top of things, and came down to tell me he's taking his psychology exam, so that's good, hopefully he does well Took a long nap Grabbing a snack and will fold clothes/prep for tutoring - the printer is being wonky, so hopefully I don't need to print much
  6. Good morning! today I have: ....coffee ....make sure I have everything ready for the PreK kid -- today we drop to once/month to finish out the year/summer, which I"m happy about ....make sure I have the stuff for tutoring this afternoon ....fold laundry ....work some more on quilt stuff ....go do PreK this morning ....go do tutoring this afternoon ....DH is cooking dinner -- chicken legs & ?? ....make sure DS takes his psychology exam ...check in on Grandma, Mom (phone/text) ....not sure what else....eat dinner, veg out, etc. I'm sure there's more I'm forgetting, but....
  7. Ran errands with DH -- the tool I got to speed the de-lettering worked!! yay!!! I'm almost half done, in roughly the same amount of time I spent yesterday removing one word! Whew!!! Also got frames for all the things, and got those put on; we'll work on hanging them this weekend. dinner is cooking, and tonight we'll veg out. Not sure if that will be movies or games or what.
  8. Hooray for the good hockey fit! Happy early birthday Scout; sorry your present is the car a/c repair (those years are so blah) - hopefully you can get some small little pick-me-up, even if it's just a fun coffee on the day of. Took a short nap, and had a brainstorm that may help me speed up the de-lettering of the quilt. Grabbing a bite, and will head out & about with DH shortly to pick that up, shop for frames, and then tag along while he does some stuff. I'll bring the quilt to work on in the car (if the new thing works, it could be done by the time we get home, or even by the time we get where we're going).
  9. slow starting today - spent a ton of time shopping for something online, finally found a suitable thing, ordered it.....and now I feel I need a nap. Ha. Will nap and eat and then get going....
  10. Stayed out way late last night -- our coaches didn't stay after, so a few of us went out to a Korean restaurant that has also interesting alcohol for the heavy drinkers in the group. That was a fun outing! We ended up staying out till midnight (they all stayed past that) which was very late for us, but a lot of fun. So, today: ....coffee ....review Monday's plans so I have some clue what I'm doing -- I think I need to soak beans for dissecting and then the kids starting them to grow at home ....work on picking stitches out on the text quilt ....I'd like to at least find places to hang stuff, and maybe go get frames for the various items that need them, so I can get DH to help with that this weekend ....probably not a lot else -- the stitch-picking is going to take forever ....decide on something for dinner -- told DH I'd be in charge of that tonight ....cook, eat, veg out, etc. Happy Friday, everyone!
  11. Anyone tackling this Ides of March? I'll start us off....
  12. Oh yes, I can relate. Our rates doubled one year -- no claims, no late payments, no issues -- and we called to ask could they do anything. We had been customers for over 20 yrs. Faithful, loyal, adding our kids, no claims, no late payments. "No, sorry, costs are going up for things and so insurance costs are just rising nationwide....." Nothing. Not even an offer to look and check, not even an offer to go over our coverage with us and see if we could adjust things there to get the monthly/annual cost down. Nothing. We did some quotes, switched over (for less), and have been happy since. When we hit a rate increase there and called, they immediately offered to at least help us review our coverage (we had tons of coverage on cars that really don't need it anymore).
  13. Did my fencing drills started taking the stitching out on the quilt (to redo the lettering) --ooph. That is taking forever. Yowsa. DH is cooking, and we'll eat and go to fencing.
  14. Such great pics! Your DS seems like a fun guy, Amy! LOL!
  15. Well, DH had more running around to do, so we went by Lowe's to return some stuff, went & vacuumed my car out, went to my appt, did the grocery shopping, went by the nursery for an apple tree, and now are finally home. Whew! Eating lunch, taking a nap, and then we'll see what gets done on the list.
  16. woah! Congrats to your DS, but...contracts? For youth hockey? that's crazy (exciting, but crazy) -- I take it it's a time commitment thing, saying you'll play for them and not others?
  17. Good morning, all! Chris, I hope you figure out the housing/care situation while your DH is out of town. Gray blah morning here....so, my list: ...coffee ...yesterday's list -- undo the text on the quilt, redo it, make one of DS's characters, make the letters for DS's quilt ...fold/put away laundry ...Dr's appt for myself this morning (pill refill) ...find places to put some of the things from Grandma ...grocery shop at some point ...maybe get frames for a few things while out??? ...pick places to hang the things (probably not hang them till tomorrow) ...do my fencing drills ...figure out dinner/cook/eat ...go to fencing ....come home, go to bed Likely I won't get ALL of that done, but we'll see; depends how quickly I get started; none of it *must* be done today except the Drs visit, grocery store, and of course dinner/fencing. The rest can spread over the weekend as needed, but of course the more I get done today, the more things I can add on the weekend (would like to make even more quilt progress, for ex) So, we'll see.
  18. We went to Grandma's; that was a delight, though we couldn't stay and visit. Came home with the pole/sign/thing. And she sent everyone home with more things from the (now closed) art gallery, so their hearts are happy. Then went to dinner out at a NY style deli, which was delicious. Now home, Oldest is going to his church, DH & the other 2 are out for a walk; we'll veg out when they get back.
  19. Tutoring went well Waiting on DH to get off a conference call, then we'll head to Grandma's (I'm going to grab a bite & empty the car/prep the car for the pick-up while he does that)
  20. Ready for tutoring, trying to finish Squaredle before I leave...
  21. Hi all! Hugs to your ds, @HomeAgain; that does sound rough. Our daytrip over to Austin was fun -- repeated WonderSpaces, which we did last year; it had some new stuff, and was just as fun/interesting as last time. Went to Museum of Illusions -- the family loved that; it made my weird eye/headache/hyper-peripheral dizziness thing flare immediately, so I did not, although being with them having fun was nice. Then we visited an Austin area Goodwill, which was fun, (somewhere in there we had lunch) and hiked a short trail at a park (about 2.5 miles round trip), had dinner at a great pizza place and headed home. A very good day. So, today: ...coffee ....make extra sure I have everything I need for tutoring this morning ...go tutor ...help DH with laundry ...go to Grandma's, pick up the pole/sign/thing I'm getting (my Grandpa built a pole, to look like pilings sitting in the water, with a welded seagull sitting on top of it -- this had the shop sign mounted to it at the corner of their road - I asked for it when she closed the gallery) ...come home, probably eat dinner out somewhere? Or pick something up? ...keep working laundry, maybe get some sewing stuff done ...eat, veg out, etc. Not a lot, but enough.
  22. We're heading over to Austin for the day -- of course one of the kids was up at 4:30 in the kitchen, which woke DH & I..... Extra coffee on board for that. Should be a fun day off galivanting.
  23. Sometimes yes, timers. Not always. Got the text onto the quilt.....I am overall pleased with how it turned out. I'll try to add a picture.... (in case it doesn't zoom well enough or something, the open Bible has the passage asking what is the greatest commandment, and Jesus' answer, and the notebook on bottom has text saying "Even them??" and then the answer, yes, even them. Even Them. next up, cook dinner.
  24. Enjoying my spring break! I watched some TV while I ate breakfast/lunch, checked on all the kiddos, took a nap, tried to start laundry but realized DH's "system" is wonky and I don't know what in our room is clean vs dirty, tidied the dining half of the dining office, cleaned my sewing room, did the practice text and then the real text, and then DH called so I had to pause there. He'll be home shortly, not enough time to put the text onto the quilt, so will grab a snack and such instead. Took chicken out to thaw, which I will turn into.....something?....for dinner later.
  25. Egads! I wouldn't have imagined. I wish honestly the schools would go back to having more in person classes; since Covid, it seems harder and harder to find things being offered in person (at least at the schools my kids attend). Still won't prevent cheating, I guess, but sure would be better education in the meantime. *no, not all online courses are bad; yes, online is convenient; but I wish things were offered in both formats still vs this move to online as the default, it seems, and in person as the optional offering.....
