  1. I voted 10, but honestly, my oldest is 8, so I may reconsider in a couple of years. The law in IL is 14, which seems a bit old to me.
  2. I would just hack off a chunk and eat it (assuming it's not unsweetened). Otherwise, make brownies with it. Brownies made with melted chocolate are the best. I haven't tried the recipe listed previously, but it sounds good. If it's bitter/semi sweet, you could chop it into chunks and make chocolate chunk cookies.
  3. For us, I like to spend at least one night a week at home, preferably Monday's. So, we may do 2 or 3 things, but 4-H is only one night a month. Plus, we have church on Wednesday's. I have only have 2 children, though. Right now, we're only doing swimming (during the day) and softball, which is 1 or 2 nights a week. In the fall, we'll do ballet, tumbling, and 4-H.
  4. I never buy deliver confirmation for PBS books and I've never had a problem. A lot of times, First Class is cheaper than media, but even when I've sent books media, it's never taken longer than a week. Deliver confirmation is cheap, but I figure the most I'll be out is one book credit. I can live with that. If a book ever happens to get lost, then I'll start getting delivery conformation.
  5. I think I got mine at Sam's. I'm still using what I bought last year, so I can't remember where I go tit.
  6. I agree with the majority - debt free means no debt, including mortgage. I consider us debt fee, but we do charge Netflix to our CC, so I guess technically, we have a small debt every month.
  7. Have you tried baking soda? Here's what I do. Wet hair, put in a LOT of conditioner, swim cap, and wash immediately with Loreal Swim shampoo (it's the only kind I can get). Once a week, I'll wash with shampoo and baking soda.
  8. I consider myself an introvert and I have no pets, nor do I want any. I am not an animal lover. We'll probably have a cat someday, since I have 2 daughters, but I'm content with no pets.
  9. This isn't always true. I buy a lot from Amazon and Christian Book, and I have had surprise back orders with both companies. I ordered Christmas presents from Amazon last year, and I had something that was on back ordered that wasn't realized until I had completed my order. Now, Amazon didn't charge me until it had shipped. When I placed the order, it read "Item in stock". Because these were gifts, I made sure I ordered stuff that was in stock. RR back order policy doesn't bother me, but I always spend enough to get free shipping. I just had a large order with Christianbook and spent over $20 just on shipping. In that instance, it would bother me to hold an entire order for one back order. But, with free shipping, it makes sense to hold an order for 5 days. Like someone said, you can pay $10 to expedite you're order. On orders under $150, and you pay shipping, then, I probably would be irritated if they didn't send my order minus the back order right away.
  10. Around $800 to $1000. I wasn't aware of their old back order policy, I wouldn't like that, either.
  11. This is what my ob/gyn just told me. He said they recently changed the recommendations.
  12. I used to finish every book I started. But, in reality, most books don't get better. If you don't like the first several chapters, then chances are, you won't like the ending, either. So, a few months ago I gave myself permission to not finish every book I start. It really is very liberating.
  13. I just remembered something. You ordered from Christianbook, right? I can't remember what the original post said. Last time I ordered from Christianbook, it was sent USPS, via FedEx. So, I put my tracking number in the FedEx site, and it tracked it to my nearest USPS facility. Don't know if this will help, but thought I would mention it.
  14. And I thought I was the only one who did this.:D Our UPS man comes between 10 and 11.
  15. I have a covered front porch, so they leave packages by the front door. This is fine with me, because we're out in the country and I'm not worried about someone stealing them. If I was concerned, I would just call the nearest UPS terminal and explain I didn't want packages left. Do you have a tracking number? This is usually pretty accurate.
  16. I just got mine. Can't wait to starting looking through it.
  17. I just got mine. I'm trying to be very disciplined, and I'm going to finish cleaning the house before I start looking. Although, maybe if I would get off the computer, I could actually get some cleaning done.
  18. :iagree: I have a specific list of things I do daily, weekly, and monthly. I change sheets on Monday, dust in Tuesday, clean out the fridge on Wednesday, that kind of stuff. You can find schedules at FlyLady and Motivated Moms. I don't like to clean, but I don't like a messy house, so that's what drives me. I like to sit down around 4 o'clock in a fairly neat house, and read a little bit before I start supper. I also keep a bottle of cleaner in the bathroom, kitchen and laundry room and a stack of cleaning rags. I use a Pledge 360 to dust, and this works great. It is so much easier to dust now. Oh, and lastly, I clean a bit before breakfast, then again after lunch, a quick straighten up before I start supper, and I clean the kitchen after supper. I don't clean all day, but I have certain times kind of set aside for cleaning.
  19. I use this site all the time. There are tons of books to choose from. There are also some printables.
  20. We're planning on going, and we rarely go to the movies.
  21. I'm still waiting for mine. Hopefully I'll get it this week.
  22. Around here, 12 year olds still deliver papers on their bikes. I let my 8 year old get the mail, and she has a fairly busy road. I don't watch the news and I never watch crime shows. I may watch the 6 o'clock local news, but that's it. But, I would never let my girls play in the park without me, or another adult I trust. It's not necessarily because I feel they would be abducted, although that's part of it. It's also because kids fall and get hurt. For me, it's about predictability. The first time a 9 year old rides the subway home alone, it's not predictable. I think most child predators stalk their victims first, and learn the daily routine. So, a 9 year old who rides a subway home alone everyday, at the same time, and takes the same route, would more likely be a target.
