  1. I think eBay takes about 8.8% and Paypal (owned by eBay right?) takes another 5%-ish - right? However, you can set up your auction so that the buyer pays shipping and handling. I think that eBay policy now is that you must accept Paypal. If I am wrong on any of this please feel free to correct :)
  2. I like the 3 bags rule; (BLACK BAGS that you can't see through!!) Throw Away Put Away Give Away I am going to take all of my childrens baby clothes and make 5 quilts with the fabric added to them - one for each child. That is a good way to keep the baby clothes (and old baby blankets etc) and they will have fun remembering what the different fabrics are from - I hope :001_smile:
  3. What are your (alls) thoughts on The Story of Science by Joy Hakim series? I was thinking of using it as a read-out-loud (down time) for my 8th graders who are doing Apologia Physical Science ...
  4. I remember a family in our small town - the wife had a few drinks at a beach party and her and her husband argued. She drove home with her two little boys and flipped the car on the highway. The judge (after she was sentenced) asked her if she had anything to say and she said that no sentence he could give her is worse than the one she has given herself.
  5. Find a friend or two for her to do the class with. We did this and it helped a lot. I liked the teaching videos too.
  6. I have all the ingredients for making home made laundry soap. What are the pros and cons to making either POWDERED OR LIQUID??
  7. We have been following dh around the world for 19 years now. The way the military is now, seems like deployments are inevitable - my dh has deployed 6 times ... so far. Maybe you can 'graduate' your daughter and start her in college when you get to Hawaii? Many Community College course are not much harder than high school courses. You will have the chance to see some beautiful places - Hopefully they will bring back wonderful memories in the years to come. I think that no matter what you decide - you need to stay positive and make the best of any place you are (or are not) stationed. You will probably have to make this decision many more times before he retires or leaves the service. Weigh the positive and the negative and keep an open mind on all the wonderful adventures that are waiting for you! :grouphug:
  8. Thank you again - That code saved me $9.20!
  9. THANK YOU! I was just about to give up :lurk5:
  10. Is there a current CBD promotion code? Thank You!
  11. Is it ethical to apply for scholarships if a student is awarded financial aid that covers tuition and books? So the scholarship would sit in the bank until next semester or next year when the financial aid will not cover all expenses.
  12. I think that you are right - MAYBE it is a generational thing. I can not even imagine having soap on my bathroom counter that they are not allowed to touch - it would be half used and muddy in no time! :iagree:
  13. OK, I thought you went to the library without one of your children that you were affectionately referring to as elf!
  14. I think there were paper napkins on the center of the table that I should have intuitively known were for my personal use. Maybe she should have set the table with the tablecloth and antique napkins and put a glass covering over the table so I could SEE, but not destroy her heirlooms ... LOL!
  15. Re Etiquette - As a guest - is it bad manners to use an antique napkin that is set out next to your dinner plate? I recently ate at my aunts house and she and my mom were slack jawed when I whipped the napkin out of the napkin ring and wiped my mouth with it - I felt like a horses behind - I probably ruined her antique napkin. I never heard of such a thing though - decorative napkins? Sheesh! :001_huh:
  16. I assumed (oh-oh) that I clean and season the PC Stoneware the same way as the cast iron - wipe-dry-oil-never soap ... is that right?
  17. I can't get in either - once this AM I was able to get to my homepage but not access anything else.
  18. I am used to high maintenance - I have Pampered Chef Stoneware too!
  19. for my daughters 16th bday I had a surprise birthday party. I bought a chocolate fountain - it takes only a few bags of chocolate chips - the fountain was around $10 in a consignment shop - new I think they are around $45-$65. I put fruit, pretzels, pound cake etc around it and made a huge bowl of fruity soda drink. Then I got one of her friends to burn some CDs for music. I secretly invited every friend I could think of - this is something that you can also enlist one of her friends to help with. My friend decorated while we we out and it was a huge surprise. Fast forward two years - for her 18th bday I took her skydiving - woohoo! :) I hope whatever you do - that your daughters bday is magic!! :grouphug:
  20. Can you all please recommend a good tea kettle to me please? I want it to be the last tea kettle I ever buy - so quality is what is important - I don't care how much it cost :) ... nothing more expensive than cheap, right?
  21. That is so amazing that you have your g-grandma's pans!! What a testament to the longevity of cast iron :)
  22. I don't know if this is the correct way to treat antique/old/or-just-any cast iron cookware - I stick mine in the dishwasher after each use without soap and they get a high temp. wash and a high temp. dry. When they are done I spray with a light coat of Pam. I hope that is not ruining the pans - because I plan on them being my last set of pans I ever buy! :)
  23. I stumbled on a set of Griswold pans - they are about 70 years old and I absolutely can not figure out how I never discovered them sooner! Can you all tell me if there is any health reason not to use it cast iron cokware?
