I know that we change -x=3 to x=-3 ... but I do not know WHY - is there a rule - what is the verbal logic behind it?? THANK YOU for reading this - I really do not know why I find simple algebra so complicated.

WWYD - College teacher makes fun of students.

I think that many of these rude professors would get a wake-up call if their class was videotaped and they had to suffer through watching themselves be so ugly to the students. -

You are so right - That reminds me, I heard of a website called ratemyprofessor.com - I am going to see if she is on that site! LOL! -
WWYD - College teacher makes fun of students. My teens (starting 2nd year of college) are in a Public Speaking at the local CC. On the first day of class the teacher asked what major each student was majoring in. She said "Well, I guess SOMEONE has to do it ..." when a young woman said she was majoring in Mortuary Science. She told my children that they were very "compulsive" when they each asked a different question about her syllabus. Yesterday my son asked her a question about an assignment and he used the word "regurgitate" when referring to a concluding sentence being reworded from the Thesis statement. For ten minutes she went on and on and on about that word and how it made her visualize vomit - and on and on - in front of the entire class. She asked a disabled girl in a wheelchair what degree she was seeking and the girl said she liked children and was going to major in child development - and the teacher asked her WHY? and then went on to tell the girl that she should visualize SKATING ... Wow! Can you imagine how ugly that was of her to say to that poor girl? I do not remember the rest of what the kids said she said - I was so sad she had said that to the girl. I think that it would be a lose-lose if they comment on how they feel about her rudeness. Right now, I am hands off - my teens are 17 and 18 - this is a good opportunity for them to work with a difficult person. What would you all do?

If it were my house/trampoline/rules I would think it disrespectful of my visiting cousin to question my parents rules. My house, my rules. If the child wants to play with light sabers on the trampoline he can do it where it is allowed if his parent permits. PERIOD. I think what he needs is 'tact' - yes, it is OK to question inappropriate rules - but logically, there is nothing for him to gain by questioning this rule. If it were my child I would have them apologize to the parent - and then talk to them about learning how to gauge situations for appropriateness and deciding whether or not they have anything to gain by questioning or confronting that situation. This is a good people skill and this skill will come in handy when they are in the work place and if their boss is a jerk. My children have all read - and I have heard that Dale Carnegie's book "How to Win Friends and Influence People" is a good resource.

Try Freecycle.org or Craigslist. I got mine free off Craiglist - however movers charges $300 to move it 40 miles and down a flight of stairs. GOOD LUCK!!

About $60+ a month here - 6 people - 5 bathrooms.

I am so tired - just cooked 40 meals and do not want to ever do that again LOL! I was thinking about cooking a recipe x4 twice a week to keep our freezer full of OAMC meals and to lessen the chaos of cooking the montly meals all at once over a few days. Does anyone do this? Any advice on this or any ideas on excellent OAMC recipes that your family loves? I reluctantly tried the Duggars Tater Tot Casserole and my family is nuts for it - go figure! :001_huh:

Has he considered joining the military? Military has housing, medical benefits and pays decent. Also, I believe that they are now accepting recruits as old as 43-ish or so. -

He enlisted in El Paso, Texas. The elementary school told the military person that called that they destroy records after a certain number of years. I agree with you - why would they go back and check? Maybe they were checking to see if we really voluntarily HSed him since then or if he might have been expelled?? At any rate - that was 5 years ago and yes, I have also heard about recruiters trying to push through drop outs as HSers. At any rate - good record keeping is really important :001_smile: -

When my son was being interviewed to join the military the recruiter showed us in his manual where they have specific questions to ask to see if he was using a video course - which they did not consider homeschool since it was not taught by the parent. -

I kept copies of all filed intent forms and in addition to that I kept montly attendance records. For the states that did/do not require monthly attendance records I made a chart for all months on one sheet and put the whole year on one sheet. The important thing is to show the days - I try to always put in between 185-225 days even if they only require 185. I also kept end of year reviews and reports for those that required them. I hope this helps! -

It is important to comply with the state you are living in. When my oldest went to join the military they checked for our compliance for every state we had lived in and even called the elementary school he had attended for a short time in 4th grade. You never know when good record keeping is going to be a blessing.
