  1. Queen Homeschool has two high school level CM science courses. The third will be out soon. I am seriously considering Queen's for my high schoolers next year.
  2. This should answer your questions. http://www.ncdnpe.or...Qs/hhh114k.aspx[/font] How will DNPE know where to send your card if they don't have your address? It's really no big deal. I called and gave them my new address with directions. How is it unlawful for DNPE to have my correct address? I'm sorry. I don't understand that.
  3. Thank you both. Candid, I do have the charts you linked above. The other chart was a link from a local high school. Obviously I should only be concerned with what the universities require and not high school. I'm excited and nervous about this new era of schooling that we are going into. It should be fun and interesting!
  4. please talk to me about graduation requirements/credits. I have this chart: http://macs.schoolfu...c2ed5a225f5cf82 I know the basics, but what I am confused about for graduation is if my dc has to take two years of American History? Our plan is to use Sonlight Core 100 this year. This would cover American History, we would cover World History, and Government and Economics with SL as well. I know that UNC and NC State only require 2/3 years of history of which will be covered well by SL cores. Should I be more concerned with what the universities require instead of the high school graduation requirements? Please help me sort this out.
  5. I don't foresee either of my boys going into a STEM field. However, my hubby works in GIS and he didn't take nearly all the courses you mentioned. It's good to have this info to plan by. Thank you!
  6. I'm looking at Bridget Ardoin's science for either Physical or Biology next year. I'm trying to decide if I need to do Physical science or not. The boys will both be taking Algebra 1 next year. I am trying to figure out their transcript stuff as I go along. I much prefer ABeka to BJU at this point.
  7. We haven't been a fan of this course. I have the Investigations CD's, but even still we haven't really enjoyed this course the way I thought we all would. We are not planning on using BJU again. (or at least not at this time).
  8. count as Physical science? Obviously, Physical science. Would Earth science count or what about Chemistry? Would an actual Physical science course be necessary before taking Chemistry? My guys will be in high school next year. I'm just trying to figure out our route. Both of my boys are using BJU Earth & Space Science this year. We are aren't crazy about it, but we are managing.
  9. We are doing MFW 1850- Modern this year. It's going very well. With all of our subjects beefing up this year MFW is just enough. My boys are really enjoying it.
  10. TT pre-algebra is working very well here. This us our second year using TT. We will most likely continue with it next year for algebra.
  11. My 8th graders are using BJU Earth Science this year. They are enjoying the reading enough, but none if us are excited about this program. This is our first year using BJU. Last year we used the ABeka 7th grade science. Both boys loved it. Neither boy wants to use BJU next year for high school.
  12. What about Queen Language Lessons? This would give her a nice variety of work to do.
  13. My boys have enjoyed Barry Stebbing's How Great Thou Art books.
  14. It's 28, but feels like 24. Ugh. I'm ready for warmer days.
  15. Thanks for all the replies. Apparently the co-op in our group isn't a true co-op, but a teacher/mom paid deal. The prices are quite expensive compared to what the majority of you pay. Thanks again!
  16. Wow! Your costs so far are much less than ours. I am hoping to move back to our hometown and have a better co-op situation.
  17. I'm just curious. I am a member of a large homeschool group in our area that has a co-op and the prices seem steep to me. I know prices can vary from place to place, but in our former city, prices are much more economical.
  18. Queen Homeschool has some lovely titles for science. I am considering their upper levels for high school science. My guys are in 8th grade this year and we are using BJU. I don't think we will use it again, or at least not for Physical science.
  19. Thanks. I've done that a bit. I just wanted to know from someone that has used the high school cores which they prefer. I don't think the basics have changed all that much.
  20. If I were leaving the country, I would not send in my intent to homeschool. I do think that whatever you name your school sticks with you for your remaining years. However, what you put on your child's diploma is up to you. I think it's just a matter of formality.
  21. We are returning to SL from MFW next year. I am starting to search for used complete cores. All I've found so far are older editions 2008 and up. I know that a few of the books have changes and that SL has changed the IG's so that the student portion is separate. I need to help figuring out which is the best way to go. Any thoughts/ideas on this?
