  1. Lots and lots - I don't keep a list, but I probably should start one. Water for Elephants was rubbish, I thought. Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks - highly overrated and boring
  2. This looks very interesting. :grouphug: Been thinking of you and missing you. :grouphug:
  3. When you're worrying especially, or any other time that you deem fit, you should not apologize for reading brain candy. :grouphug: Hope that your daughter's eyes are okay. We seem to have quite similar tastes :). I've added some of the ones I haven't yet read to my wish list.
  4. I have lots and lots of tips on high blood pressure. This is the info I have: Even a 5-10% weight loss can greatly help reduce blood pressure.
  5. I hope you like it. :) I wish I could have enjoyed it more. Parts of it were so beautifully descriptive. I just wanted to be there. Me too. Loved it. :) Endings are everything for me - in books and in movies. They don't need to ride off towards the sunset, but I do need a good, solid ending with some form of closure. I really disliked Little Bee for this reason. A Fine Balance had a horrible ending also. :glare: I prefer endings that aren't overly tragic. Unaccustomed Earth had an absolutely awful ending.
  6. I forgot to mention that I also read The Night Circus. Loved it at first. By the end, it was just dragging on for me. Maybe my timing was off and there were too many distractions. I don't know. :tongue_smilie:
  7. I finished Nothing to Envy and absolutely loved it - so far, my favorite read of 2012. I started a few other books on my Kindle and deleted them each when they failed my 10% Rule. ;) I think part of the reason is that everything pales in comparison to Nothing to Envy. :tongue_smilie: Her book was so good. One should just take a peek at the distribution of reviews on amazon - almost all 5 and 4 stars - and those are based on lots of reviews. :) I've just started Cage of Stars and am not sure what to think yet. Very disturbing subject matter. :001_huh:
  8. Well, I now finished reading every single post. Nice to know everyone's opinions. ;) All I can say is "Wow!" :tongue_smilie: ;)
  9. No. Please stay. Please, please, please stay. :grouphug: :) :grouphug:
  10. I've been intentionally ignoring this thread for some time. Everyone's opinions has been quite enlightening and rather disturbing to say the least. Wow! :iagree: :iagree: :iagree: Off to do more reading ...
  11. I'm so glad that you did. I wish they would make an edition for young teens and up. For example, there are so many versions of Who Moved My Cheese for young kids all the way up, or The Seven Habits, etc. I'd love it if they would do it for this also.
  12. I didn't care for it much either. She irritated me a bit. :001_huh: I LOVED The Geography of Bliss. :D Love that book and all the Malcolm Gladwell stuff. If you like Outliers, you might like Mindset., although not right after. ;) :iagree: Book Thief was superb, I thought.
  13. I would drive anywhere if I could ... alas, we live on an island.
  14. I love his books and was sad that he died so early. He planned on writing 10 in the series. :grouphug: Faithe, I hear you and agree. Fluff is nice and comforting. :) Stacia, glad you liked it. I agree about the first part versus the 2nd part. Visit - Netherlands (been there when I was very small), Iceland, Bhutan Best fit me - Netherlands, Iceland (but I would loathe the weather :glare:). I wish he would write a sequel and do more countries.
  15. I often wonder if I'll like this or not. I keep adding it and then later removing it from my wish list.
  16. I never thought of myself as a particularly good swimmer until my dh told me. I can only do bre@st stroke and taught myself to swim at the age of 6 or so. I just love being in the water. I'd be in it all day long if I could. Yes, me too. My dc are much older, but lately I've been having a very hard time. If I don't exercise in the morning, it won't happen later. Don't worry, these things come and go. Your little one will soon grow. :grouphug: Tiger Balm Some good stretches - you might find some on You Tube or google some.
  17. I like this list. :) Isabel Allende is one of my all-time favorite authors. Love, love, love her books. House of Spirits is her best, IMHO, although I really love them all. She writes about strong women.
  18. I'm going swimming in a few hours and simply can't wait. :) I love, love, love the water.
