  1. Yes, this is just what I am looking for! Thank you! What did your daughter do when she became stuck at some concept? Thanks.
  2. Can anyone lead me to a site that clearly lays out what should be covered in Precalculus? Although we have used Chalkdust successfully through Alg. 2, I enrolled my daughter in an online Precalculus class (to remain unnamed) and want to make sure the correct concepts are being covered. She plans to take AP Calculus next year. I expected the class to start out with review, but here it is November and she is not assigned much homework and spends less time on this class than any other. I expected it to be very challenging and work intensive, and so far, it is not. She says the majority of the class time is spent reviewing Alg 2 concepts and many kids still don't get the basics of logarithms, as if they didn't take Algebra 2. I have spoken to the teacher, who assures me she is on track for AP Calculus. But I'm still not sure... TIA
  3. Test questions are part of an Instructor Resource DVD with TestGen in the 7th edition and it does not look like they offer the printed bank anymore. SO, what I am wondering is if you have any idea if the test questions would likely change with different editions? I have the 7th edition. You have the 6th. I can't imagine much has changed, but I would hate to buy the Printed Test Bank for the 6th edition and have it not apply to the 7th edition!!! Thanks! blossom12 My 6th edition test bank's table of contents is almost identical to your 7th edition text--a few chapter titles have been tweaked a bit, but the content is the same for all 38 chapters. DS used the 5th edition text (purchased thru Amazon for about $5) with the 6th edition test bank and 6th edition study guide purchased from Pearson. We had no problems mixing the editions. HTH
  4. The prices (link below) appear for me when I use Safari, but not with Firefox. The printed test bank costs $19.95, the study guide $24.95. Phone Pearson and see if the printed test bank is still available. I purchased mine in 2009. http://www.pearsonschool.com/index.cfm?locator=PSZu6t&PMDbSiteId=2781&PMDbSolutionId=6724&PMDbSubSolutionId=&PMDbCategoryId=811&PMDbSubCategoryId=&PMDbSubjectAreaId=&PMDbProgramId=55581&PMDbProductId=395935&elementType=programComponents It took two years to complete everything as he spent a week just on the text chapter and online sources, then an additional week for the student guide and test bank.(For the second year he was also taking Chemistry with ChemAdvantage.) We didn't know which chapters could be skipped, so he ended up studying them all. He liked the test bank better than the student study guide. He thought they were equal in difficulty, covered pretty much the same material, but the study guide was tedious (matching, T/F, fill-in-the-blank, etc.) and took much longer to finish. He felt the test bank (MC) covered the Biology SAT test very well, with several identical questions. HTH
  5. We used the test bank instead of the teacher's guide. Took two years to complete all 38 chapters. Son scored 800 on the Bio SAT in May. Very happy with this text.
  6. So it sounds like the hottest and coldest months would be the best times. Thanks for all your helpful answers!!
  7. We plan to visit Disneyworld, but the two times (in spring) I have been there, I had problems with allergies--terribly itchy eyes that prevented me from enjoying much. Could you tell me the best months to visit as well as the worst in regards to allergies? I have never experienced any allergy problems where we live, only in Florida. TIA
  8. My teenage son helps a couple different students whenever they need assistance (free), so if you want, send me a pm and he'll get in contact with you.
  9. My son took the SAT today. His admission ticket did not include the 970000 code, only a registration code and a test center code. As stated above, the test form did not ask for a school code. Was the 970000 code supposed to be on his admission ticket? Thanks.
  10. Are you saying that he will not take the AP tests because he would automatically be bumped to a higher level of Calc and Physics his freshman year? I thought one could take the AP test and then choose to submit the scores or not. Does it depend on the individual school policy?
  11. So what's a kid to do who is competing against students in schools such as Stuydesvant High where Organic Chem is a year long elective? Not all students are capable of self studying Organic. Would it be acceptable to audit the CC as a high school junior/senior?
  12. I find it puzzling that it's okay if my kids receive two years of excellent chemistry instruction from Mr. Moskaluk in order to prepare for General Chem in college, but auditing a CC class to prepare for Organic Chem is frowned upon. Thanks for the great advice everyone. Many good ideas for the organic chem file!
  13. Any resources out there to help homeschoolers prepare for organic chemistry in college? I have heard from so many people who struggled with (or dropped) Organic Chem in college. Thanks.
  14. www.derekowens.com could probably help you if you don't find an answer here.
  15. My son said to start with the second disc, but...for someone who is using the Chang text--your daughter probably won't find these DVDs challenging.
  16. http://phil4.com/ has a Pre AP physics class that began Monday
  17. I believe the PSAT tests are no longer available through Collegeboard, if that's what you're referring to.

  19. What were the problems with the Physics class? Thanks.
  20. I may have the manual. I purchased that text and a lab manual but switched to Concepts and Connections. We are away from home until Friday. Please send me a message this weekend if you still need it. I could e-mail you the table of contents.
