  1. Can you help me find this Tina? I can't seem to locate the TOG/SL list in the group files :).
  2. :iagree: And honestly...the book names are still included, all that is missing is author names, so I really don't understand the fuss. :confused: Oooh! My download finally came in, but I hadn't seen that yet! Off to look, thanks! :auto:
  3. Woohoo! Very impressive! :) (Psst. Check out my post count! Queen Bee coming soon! Heehee!) Yep, this thread has been hi-jacked but bad!
  4. Thanks Marie! You are so helpful! We Canadian types need to stick together! ;) (Now where is the Canadian flag waving smilie...:hat: - this is the closest I can find!)
  5. Ah. So, my oldest is in grade 2, but I could technically call her a rising 3rd grader because she'll be in 3rd come fall? (I think I'll just keep sticking with calling her 2nd.)
  6. :bigear: I want to benefit from your craziness.:lol: I find all Usborne's muliple titles/editions/linked vs. non, a bit...:confused::tongue_smilie:.
  7. I feel do in the dark! Can someone shed some light on what a rising 2nd, or 3rd etc. grader is? Thanks!
  8. I agree. The readers are gorgeous (like anything Marie does), but are really optional. I think they plan to tie them into the AAR program more when future levels are released.
  9. From what I've read (still waiting for catalog to download on dial-up!!), yes. 2 Intermediate is now called Grade 3. 2 Advanced is now called Grade 4-5. They've been freed from their core tie-in names so that people can more clearly see that they can use them with any of their young children, who are developing reading fluency, apart from the core selections (I think!).
  10. MP Christian Studies - we have this on hand for 3rd and it looks really good for the narrative, structure, places, people of scripture. Not really a doctrinal-heavy program so it is easy to use across denominations
  11. I'm liking what they've done with the reader package levels! Now I don't feel like DD is 'behind' in her reading abilities if she isn't reading the 2 Advanced readers (old levels) yet, because now they are the grades 4-5 readers and she's only in 2nd!
  12. Another vote here for waiting until your child can read. English fluent reading is a higher priority than Latin :).
  13. :iagree: SL is actually renaming their readers so they reflect grade levels instead of being tied to the cores by number. What was previously the readers for Core K through Core 2 Advanced are now going to be Grade K Readers, Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, and Grade 4-5. You can read about that change here: http://www.sonlight.com/whats-new.html These levels aren't tied to specific cores or historical themes, they are tied to reading fluency levels. SL's readers are really a great progression to build fluency with REAL books in the early grades. HTH!
  14. http://www.sonlight.com/online-catalog.html I didn't know it was online yet until today! I am working on downloading it! It will take all day on dial-up though! :glare: I'm excited! :auto:
  15. I think our magnetic 2' x 3' board was $28 at Wal Mart. Get it there. :)
  16. I think it is closer to public school LA than it is to the incremental approach most classical educators prefer. Of course, my children haven't been to public school :tongue_smilie:....but from what I've read about some PS scope and sequences....
  17. :smash::willy_nilly: (Closest I can come to a diaper smilie!) 1979 here!
  18. I like your color coding! I think we tend towards your latter statement ;). And now that I see your very comprehensive waffling list, I realize that I am actually waffling on more than I listed, that is just my BIG waffle. :lol:
  19. I'm totally waffling on history. I am a BIG history waffler, always have been, I hope I won't always be though. We love SL, but the TOG pull is getting stronger...and stronger...! ACK!!! I OWN SL 1+2 (only need to buy one book to complete it), but I also own the teaching plans for TOG Y1U1...all I'd need to buy is some books....to get started....and DD keeps asking if we'll get to do TOG....ACKACKACK!!!! Should be responsible...and do the SL...but...the TOG...is tempting me.........and I'm trying to put it off....until 4th grade....but not sure....I'll be able to resist for that long!!!!! The plan is...3rd grade - SL 1+2, 4th grade TOG Y1. Trying to resist skipping ahead!!!!
  20. Oh Tracy, your baby was born the day after ours :)!! Our baby DD was born on December 15th :). I am a bit odd, my oldest knows what we are doing. "Let's do Sonlight!" "When do we get to do TOG?" LOL! Yes, I discuss curriculum choices with my children :O! I don't necessarily let their opinions be the deciding factor though! :P I do still like to hear their input though.
  21. If I had anything to share...I would... Unfortunately, we aren't doing ANY memory work right now. I need to get my act together.
