"We do not except checks"...

Thanks for all these funny additions. I really needed some laughs to break up some tension. My dh & I are still cracking up on "My moms says 'no' ". -
"No exceptions allowed" . This was a sign I saw today at a Used children's clothing store. I pointed it out to the young "I only work here" clerk, and she did not seem interested (Or didn't get it). Anyone else see any funny signs lately? Jacqui

Maybe have her do some memory work with poems using "they" as target words. That's worked really well with my son's lisp. Then in conversational speech, when she's more aware of the error, I would respond to her error by saying "Them??? Them went to the market???" and have her correct it herself. If she doesn't self correct, say it correctly and have her repeat. If she gets frustrated with this process though, back off a little, she may be too young to get it in conversation. Just keep doing memory work with "they" as a target word. Jacqui BTW, your story technique is excellent! You could maybe use one of your stories as a memory work too. When she's repeating each line after you, that's immediate memory, not even necessarily short term memory. (To be memorized, things go through steps: Immediate memory, then with repetition, short term memory, then with spaced repetitions, long term memory). You want the "they" usage to get into long term memory and memorization will help with that.

I just met someone yesterday who has a beautiful Abyssinian cat and says that breed does not bother allergies (which he has). It is also a good mouser. Anytime you buy a purebred though, it is expensive. Edit: I was just trying to verify this info (which I don't see a whole lotta info for) and found someone mentioned using a Rat Terrier dog as a good mouse catcher. Would another dog work for you?

Question about Homer's Odyssey
jacqui in mo replied to jacqui in mo's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Thanks all! I knew it had to be something like that but hadn't seen an official explanation. -
Why is the hero of the Odyssey sometimes called Ulysses in some versions and Odysseus in others? Thanks Jacqui

Sounds really good for you and your family. What kind of curriculum are you writing?

My dh had gum surgery to fix some deep pockets a couple of years ago. At his appointment yesterday the pockets seem to have redeveloped. The periodontist isn't suggesting redoing the surgery yet, but.... Now I know my dh doesn't take care of his teeth as diligently as he could. (i.e. brushes only once a day sometimes). But is there other things besides the careful brushing & flossing that could help? We already try to eat fairly healthy here, but I'm sure we could do better. What about electric toothbrushes? I've heard they can be beneficial. Is there a brand that is better than others? Thanks, Jacqui

iPhone applications
jacqui in mo replied to Adrianne in TX's topic in General Education Discussion Board
There's some grocery list apps that look good. I used to have a Palm Pilot grocery list planner & loved it. I haven't decided which one looks the best for my Itouch.- 9 replies

Eye stys? Why, Hive?
jacqui in mo replied to Melissa in St Louis's topic in General Education Discussion Board
Also soaking the stye using a washcloth with as hot of water as you can stand (without burning yourself) will help give some quick relief. -
In my ds' 4th grade abeka math (pg 194 if anyone is THAT interested) he has a word problem that goes like this: What is the least number of coins needed to pay for any purchase that is less than a half dollar? The answer is "7". My son answered "1." And I don't have a clue what they are really asking:confused:. We don't know the exact amount of money being asked for so how are you supposed to do this? I think I'd rather tackle my dd's algebra:tongue_smilie:. Thanks for any help for this clueless mom. Jacqui
