  1. :iagree: Just make sure it is natural fat and not 'man made' fat!!
  2. I ordered some LOF books last week. On Saturday they tracked in Denver (which we ALWAYS get next day) this morning it is still in Denver. In the special features column it says 'Delivery Confirmation'. Does that just mean it was sent with Delivery Confirmation or that it was confirmed delivered somewhere?? I want my books :crying:
  3. I think she will be fine. If you are willing to work with her on any harder concepts and any math that comes up. The math in PS is not outrageous! Mostly unit conversions I believe. What do you plan on doing for science in 7th and 8th? As long as you do not proceed from there (to give her math skills time to catch up) she should be fine!
  4. We did SO good for 2 years not losing a single tile until ds was (FINALLY) ready to start it. Well, now that he is finally ready we are missing 5 tiles :001_huh: We got it 2 years ago to do until we found out all his learning difficulties so we put it away. They were there the whole time. I kept making sure. :glare: Will I have to buy another complete set of tiles? (and put the magnet backing on them all, again?) :001_huh:
  5. Would you recommend getting the 'Zillions of Practice Problems' book if it were supplementing Teaching Textbooks? This is dd's math schedule: Mon: TT lesson + Life of Fred Tues: TT leson + Money Matters for teens then when that is done Survival Math Weds: TT Lesson + Life of Fred Thurs: TT Lesson + Life of Fred Fri: TT lesson + Sudoku puzzle So what do you think about the Zillions of Practice Problems. I do that the Humongous book of Algebra problems-- do you think that would work instead of the Zillions of Practice problems?
  6. :grouphug: I am so sorry! I just said a prayer :grouphug:
  7. I would recommend taking a year and doing some kind of business math (banking, interest rates, mortgages, that kinda thing) and maybe something like Patty Paper Geometry then try Geometry again in 9th. See how that goes.
  8. What should dd (5th) be able to do before adding a formal lit program. I am just wondering at what point do I make the switch from just reading to doing a lit program? We have Figuratively Speaking so I will do that with her over this year and possibly next and turn it into a pre-lit program like I did my oldest but I am just wondering when others made the jump and how did you know your dc was ready?
  9. I don't grade because anything she gets wrong I make her go back through and we talk about what went wrong. If you want to grade just give her a grade for the lesson (good/bad/ A or??) and divide the number of 'problems' she does and grade her based on that. If she did 10 and got 3 wrong that would be 30% or B- or a C.. Then average the 2 together. Does that make sense? Did I over complicate it?? I am typing distracted LOL. (When am I NOT distracted while typing )
  10. I don't test my kids in elementary (my 5th grader will be tested so when I refer to elementary here I mean grammar stage- I count 5th as logic so include that as middle grades even though in schools it is elementary ;)) I just want them to love it- does that make sense? We have fun. Read fun read alouds. Do some projects. Watch some fun cartoon-ish Netflix programs (Yes, I said cartoon-ish :001_smile:) We just make history fun at this age. 5th and 6th I start requiring a little more- more writing, pretests (just to see) post tests but I don't require a lot until around 7th grade (ish- depending on the kid!)
  11. No we live in Wy. This is the part of the law that talks about it: 1. Parents must annually submit a curriculum to the local board of trustees showing that a “basic academic educational program†is provided. Wyo. Stat. § 21-4-102(b).
  12. We are supposed to provide either a list of curriculum and publishers used or a scope and sequence. I just do a list of curriculum and publishers because it is easier that way. I am lost what to do for reading though because we do not do a reading curriculum. Would I just provide a list of books I intend on having her read? This is for my 5th grader.
  13. Hmmmmm ...... You both gave me somethings to think about!! Thank you!
