  1. When I can't afford Tide, I buy Gain. It's a little cheaper and I think it smells really nice.
  2. Must be nice...My MIL thinks I'm going to ruin my children! :glare: I agree about waiting until the semester is over. Don't take a chance on making the person made who controls your grade!
  3. I have similar issues w/ my in-laws. It's almost as if your kids are being punished for coming from the "normal" family. I don't have the personalitly to say anything about it though, I just complain about it in my head ALOT
  4. I think lesson plan objectives are for "real teachers" when they are coming up w/ a lesson from scratch w/ no curriculum. Where most curriculums we use already have those listed in lesson. I plan on doing just what you are doing. I may get a lesson planner from a teacher supply store and instead of writing M-F, put day 1, day 2. That way it won't get all ugly/messy when we miss a day.
  5. You all made me change my signature...I felt bad that everyone had to look at it.
  6. Good advice, but hard to follow!!! :tongue_smilie: I'm still trying to get all my ducks in a row and the kids are preschoolers. :001_huh:
  7. I think you should stick w/ Rod and Staff English and Spelling and ditch the reading. You seem to be satisfied w/ those subjects and only troubled by the reading. You could keep the readers and just let the children read them on their own or use as read alouds b/c of the good bible content. Pick something like OPGTR or another phonics primer that doesn't take up a lot of time w/ all the extras, but still gets the job done for the next child learning to read. This is what I've come up with after reading several of your recent posts. :D
  8. I don't think it would matter. Most people aren't familar with name meanings.
  9. My husband name is Aaron and I really like that. He also likes Abraham.
  10. Thank you for replying! I'm really drawn to TOG. The size doesn't scare me at all. I kind of like all that information.:001_huh: I don't mind the price tag either, if it has everything I'm looking for. However, I would be using it from the beginning w/ 1st graders and most people say it's too much for grammer stage. But I'm still liking it anyway... :glare: Another question. I think I would have a better chance for success if I didn't start w/ year one. I think I would enjoy teaching year 3 or 4 the most. Does everyone start w/ year one?
  11. In the literature section, do they schedule "classic" books for elementary years, such as Charlotte's Web, Winnie the Pooh, or Little House books or are they all "history related"? This is a silly question, I know, but I would like a curriculum that tells me when to read good books.:tongue_smilie:
  12. Thank you, this is some of what I was needing to know, b/c we do not believe in all of TULIP. I just wanted to know if TULIP was pushed within the curriculum.
  13. Just a friendly bump, in case anyone else wants to chime in. I was actually wondering the same thing b/c we are not Reformed either. I was wondering if TOG teaches just church history or do they push their doctrine in any of the years?
  14. I have looked at HOD. I seem to be drawn to the older guides, especially CTC. The lower guides (Bigger and below), don't appeal to me as much. They just didn't seem to be my "style".
  15. I have been REALLY looking at this one. I almost titled this post "Is Biblioplan what I'm looking for?" :001_smile:
  16. I am looking for a history program that is classical education friendly..Has reading schedule for me to follow.. Suggests extra books to read or read- alouds? A Christian world view (7 day creationists). Maybe has warnings for questionable content. I'm not a crafty person so I wouldn't want a lot of arts and crafts. Simple and easy to use, so I would actually use it! Looking for grammer stage...Does this program exsist??? Thank You!
  17. :iagree: I didn't wait until I was married and it still haunts me. I don't want my children to make the same mistake.
  18. I think I'm agreeing with this. I really liked what I saw until I got to the writing section. It is a little over my head. Do you just do the spelling lessons and skip the writing and reading? I noticed in your signature that you use Rod and Staff English. How did you make that jive with WRTR.
