For those of you that have already received your new Sonlight catalog or on the Sonlight forums. Are they changing the books in the preschool cores? I'm considering purchasing the P3/4 core. Wondering if it mattered to order now or should I wait until after April 2nd?

:iagree: or just spread out the reading over the whole year. You mentioned in another post you were looking to simplify. That way you wouldn't be adding more curriculum.

I just had a baby in October. It was about $12,000 for my bill, Maggie's bill, and my epidural. I paid the doctor around $1900 for office visits, 3 ultrasounds, and delivery.

I am! I can't go everyday so I'm waiting for the schedule to see if I want to register.

Just to clarify. I'm not expecting to teach him to read now, I'm just worried about were he will be in the next 2 to 3 years. :001_smile:

My son will be 3 next month and he has a vocabulary of about 5-10 words. He can say Mommy, Daddy, bowl, bow, Papaw, ball. He can say the names of these letters: A, B, D, and E. I've noticed when he is trying to say new words he will leave off the last syllable (ex. hah=hot, bi=big) He calls his sister Emma= E-dah. He has been in speech therapy since October. Since that time he has gained a few words. When he turns 3 next month we will go to the local public school for speech 3 times a week. Hopefully, we will see some improvement. However, I'm worried that since he is having trouble talking that he will automatically have trouble learning how to read. Have any of you had children with speech delays that had no trouble learning to read or is it likely he will have trouble? I'm just really worried about him. Will he talk? Will he read? He has no trouble understanding speech. The SLP said his ability to take in language is above age level, but his output is WAY below age level. I'm just worried bc I'm going to be homeschooling and I don't want to be pressured into sending him to PS b/c of a learning disability.

In K and 1st I remember copying the paragraph the teacher wrote on the board every morning. It was something like, "Today is Monday. It is sunny outside. We have art today at 2:00." It was already on the board every morning and it was the first thing we did.

Yep normal. Had it done about a month ago. My gums even bleed a little when I brushed for a few days afterwards. Everything is fine now.

Do you know what subjects you will be speaking on? Can you give us an idea or is that against the rules? :D

Thank you, Lynne! That was a wonderful response. I will definitely keep this program in mind. It seems to be what I'm looking for in a Bible curriculum. I want to be in the Bible and using the Bible, not a devotional. Those aren't my thing.

Lynne, I'm not the OP, but thank you for that wonderful overview of MFW. I've been looking at the curriculum for my children. I especially like the looks of the bible in the program. Am I right that it uses the Bible instead of reading from other books, like devotionals?

I just had an overdue baby on Oct. 21st. I was too scared to try teA b/c I was too worried this EXACT same thing would happen!! :lol:

Number 3 is due Oct. 19th.

I have read that the anatomy book is best used for upper elementary b/c it one of the more difficult books in the series. Maybe you could switch to a different topic and save the anatomy book for later.
