We just started today and it went very well. Just a little more to do!

The consistency of the butter makes a big difference with those types of cookie. It is usually "softened" butter, correct? Did you leave it out on the counter to soften?

Yes, we do interest led science, for example. My big girl is very interested in Chemistry and after a brief unit about Astronomy, we are going to head back to Chemistry. (Though Chemistry doesn't have much to do with being a duck! )
But when the girls express interest in something, I do seek out opportunities/resources/materials for them to explore the interest more. If it is something that sticks, the more involved I get with finding more materials/resources/opportunities. Sometimes things are just a passing phase too.

Yes, with the gripper foamy paper. Nothing that sticks forever!

Nope, we are blessed to be given LOTS (and I mean LOTS) of "mall clothes" from my brother and sister in law. Their dd wears them a few times and they get passed to us!

When my big girl was 2 years old, she wanted to be a duck when she grew up...

Geronimo Stilton books

I love them! I wear them! I like the bling, I like the thick stitching.
BUT....the definitely draw attention to your behind and some add "bulk" to your behind (all the jewels, for example).

Most of the time unless you are feeling fat. :glare:

Looks good! I would add some crafts/art and maybe music to round it out a bit. I have rising second grader and a K'er and for art, I have a drawer filled with all sorts of odds and ends that I collect. They just take glue, scissors and crayons/markers and create whatever. Nothing formal. And while they are doing that, I play different genres of music in the background. That is art and music here! Nothing fancy or formal and (since we need to report) agreeable with the school district.

Nope! I gave it to my bf when she got married and when her dh's daughter got married, the dress was passed onto her! All they had to pay for were the alterations and cleanings.

I don't know! lol
We got a bunch of free books from the ps so we've been working through those....
-
We tried those books once. My big girl was bored working in the 1st grade math book when she was about 3 so they weren't a hit.

Anywhere I can get a massage and room service!!

I'm suppose to count hours and put them on my report. I just take the 960 hours, divide it by 4 and write "240+" on each quarterly report. My girls are aggressive learners so I don't fret about exact hours.

I watch TV. I may watch too much according to some of you, but definitely less than the "average American."
I watch TV too!
If I watch more than what the "hive" deems as too much then oh well!

You forgot Music  but you don't need a curriculum for that.
I just play different genres of music in the background while the girls work on their art projects...that's music class!

My kids don't just sit and watch TV so there isn't a problem with too much screen time here. Actually, when I need a break, I do mandatory sit down...where I TELL them to sit and watch TV for a bit!

I define gifted as being the 98th or 99th percentile on an IQ test.
I also define gifted like this.

I also have a super reluctant reader who is starting 2nd grade this coming year. This past summer, I told her she could stay up as long as she wanted at night but she needed to be reading. It worked! She reads every night and we keep a variety of books on her night stand. She probably stays up an extra hour to read and pops out every now and then asking for help with a word.
So I don't assign actual minutes of required reading. She will begin reading aloud to me again when we start our school year.

If you can find a "How it's Made" episode on a food then it's processed!

I keep biting the same spot inside my lip. It hurts and is making me miserable.
I'd really like to know when you grocery shop!

We go Monday morning, bright and early. Then we "refill" shop on Thursday (bright and early) for stuff that needs refills (ie. milk, fruit, etc). We did go early Sunday morning since we started school this morning. And I mean, we leave around 8am and 8:15am.
