  1.

If I skip an official "dinner", or just have something very small like a piece of fruit, I may feel hungry around 8 pm, but it's not terrible, and I can often ignore it and go to bed just fine.

Is this normal/okay? Anyone else do this?

If I feel a little hungry that late, I ignore it too.

  2. I come from a country where the main, warm meal is eaten at lunch, and the evening meal is a small, cold meal, salad or sandwich.

Fond memories of dinner at my grandparents (also from the same country). I also remember cheese/crackers, bread/butter and small "picky" food for dinner.

(Sorry for the off topic but this memory put a smile on my face)

My dad always says: king's breakfast, queen's lunch and pauper's dinner.

  3. Ok I gotta say it ...what the heck is wrong with you Americans. LOL.

In Australia you get a choice of vanilla, chocolate ,strawberry or caramel.... And our peanut butter only comes in a jar.

That sounds likes heart attack waiting to happen.

Bacon and ice cream .... So gross. LOL

I'll just stick with our kangaroo meat and witchety grubs ;)

DING! DING! DING! We have a winner here!!!!! (see my post above!!)

  4. What makes this all humorous to me is that Americans are all about diets, exercise, getting into shape, getting kids off the couch, all the "healthy living" campaigns, yada, yada, yada...yet lately everyone is adding BACON to everything!! Denny's is running a bacon promotion, the fast food restaurants have a massive bacon movement going, now Sonic is adding it to an already unhealthy item like a milkshake!!

    Oh my goodness. :ack2:

  5. SWB= Christian scholar who is pro education.

Ken Ham= Christian ideologue who is pro making sh!t up and calling that education.

Oh boy. I'm probably one of the very few that completely disagrees with this. But I also know this board isn't "pro Ken Ham". Oh well, we all have a right to our own thoughts and beliefs.

  6. I think BJU math is "on point" but is "behind" Horizons Math. I would try the placement test for Horizons if you are going from BJU to Horizons.

Horizons is very easy to compact and cross problems out. You don't need to do every single problem on every single page. I've even skipped entire exercises because the repetition was much.

  7. Our church goes through the Bible verse by verse. So I usually make notes on what is said about each verse and mark down any cross references mentioned.

I also will make small notes and underline stuff in my Bible.

  8. Really? Because I found the little girl next door trying to "sneak" into our yard one day (she'd heard we had baby chicks and was curious to see these, and our tortoises). So I showed them to her. I explained nicely that going into our backyard without asking was something she shouldn't do, but she could come back and see the chicks sometime if she wanted.

I think she came back one time with a little friend who was amazed to see the chicks. I though it was nice, and it did not dispute our lifestyle to extend a little kindness toward a child.

    Bill

That's a good experience but based on how the OP described the wild kids as (in the first post and thread title), It seems like you are comparing "apple" wild kids to "orange" little girl.
