blondeviolin
We just got our invite. My husband is ecstatic. He wants to name it Jarvis. Too bad he won't get it till after Christmas...
Ethel Mertz
I knew I shouldn't have opened this thread. I have just requested an invite.

Ethel Mertz
I was wondering how long it might take to get an invite. Now I know not to check my email every half hour. Strange marketing ploy, eh?
DawnM
I just want to know what this "if selected" junk is about......I want my Echo! I am good enough, I am smart enough, and dog gonnit, people like me!
Arcadia
My kids have been drilling 'Alexa" on addition. Try asking "Alexa" what is 1 + 1 and you get a smart alec response.. My kids like to ask "Alexa" to find songs too. Cannot rename yet.
blondeviolin
I definitely thought we were out of the invite running too. Maybe they're going in order of invite requests? Or going down the list of who purchases from amazon more frequently? Or pulling random numbers?
DawnM
Can't be frequency, I am quite sure I would have been asked Day 1 if that were the case! I definitely thought we were out of the invite running too. I only console myself saying there must be worse amazon purchasers.

stephanier.1765
For a while I was wondering if they weren't selecting people who left reviews on Amazon. I'm not a review leaver so I'd probably be of no use to them. I'm sure I'm wrong but I was wondering. Congrats on winning the invite lottery! I can't wait to hear what you think of it. WagsWife
We bought our Echo during the first batch of invites. From what I can tell, there is no rhyme or reason to how they select who gets them, and who doesn't. I have Prime and a Kindle HDX...that is it. I am not a big purchaser, and I do not review things often. I belong to a Kindle Forum, and there people who are far more into the Amazon system, and people who are far less than me. It makes no sense. They are not even sending invites out to people who do published reviews (Cnet and sites like them)...unless they happen to get a random invite. As for the Echo. We love it. It is pretty limited on what it can do--t commercial gives you a perfect picture of it's capabilities, but I can see a lot of potential. Right now, my kids are loving having any song they want played just by asking for it. I use the shopping list feature quite a bit.
