athena1277
I have a cotton shirt I really like, but I got some cooking oil (veg. oil?) on it recently and it will not wash out in the regular laundry. It looks like it has a wet spot and has a oil-y stench. Any ideas how to save my shirt? Thanks!
Tap
Try soaking the spot in straight dish washing soap. Something like Dawn would be the best, instead of a eco-friendly one. I would soak it for a day, then wash in hot water.
julesmama3
I got grease out of stockings before using hairspray. Now if only some one could tell me how to get mustard out of a ight blue shirt:bigear:
JudoMom
I would rub Dawn on it, let it sit overnight, and wash as normal. Dawn is a great greasy stain remover.
nutmeg
I would rub Dawn on it, let it sit overnight, and wash as normal. Dawn is a great greasy stain remover. Yup. I have a pump bottle of Dawn (The foamy soap!) that I keep above the washing machine for just this purpose. It saved my daughter's TNT shirt from greasy cheese pizza spots. Mom0012
When this happens to me, I spread cornstarch over the grease spot and let it sit for a little while. Then, I squirt Dawn or some other dish soap on the spot and then throw it through the washing machine. So far, this has always worked.
