  1. Hi, In our local schools, freshman take a 1 credit local, state, and federal government class. Does anyone know of a curriculum that gives a full credit? There is a chance that my daughter may go to public school in later years and I want her to be on the same track as everyone else. I've considered an online AP course but am afraid it would be too tough considering they are usually taken by older students. Thanks
  2. http://www.amazon.com/N2A-TM-Android-bootable-microSD/dp/B00530GZC4/ref=pd_cp_pc_1 You are going to love me! I bought this SD card from this company at Amazon. You just slip it in and your Nook becomes an Android tablet. You can get any apps that you would buy from an android phone including Kindle. You can even download and watch movies right from the app store. They have different size GB you can buy, but I just went with the 8 because I didn't know anyone who had bought it and I didn't want to waste a lot of money in case it was a scam. I've been using the SD card for about 4 months without any problems! I absolutely love my Nook even more now!
  3. Not gross. My dog runs to the kitchen when he hears me load the dishwasher. He "cleans" the plates as I put them in. I also let him lick me all over my face too.:D
  4. Would it be wrong to suggest wine or some other tropical drink-of-the-day special?? Along with your Xanax, you should be good to go! ;) Bless You!
  5. Yes, they are worth it. It is helpful to be able to recall facts quickly. I like the way CLE tells you which days to do which facts.
  6. We've never had any problems with interference and we've had our inground fence for 4 years now. It does take a little time training and so forth but they definitely get it. When he started to break through the fence and take the shock (as he grew older and had more weight), we would up his collar. Eventually we had to upgrade to the stubborn dog collar (he's a 100lb lab). He NEVER crosses the line now even when other dogs are walking by. For me, it has been worth it.
  7. Rat!! though I've never had a gerbil. We had a rat a few years back named Peachy. I could bring her into the living room and she would run around and sniff and would come when I called her name. We could hand wrestle with her. I'd put her on her back and tickle her tummy and then push her away and she would come running back. She also gave lots of kisses. Spend a little time in the pet store if you can. We had another rat that we describe as our 'laboratory rat'. She sat in the corner of her cage, never came to us when we called, and could not be caught if let out of the cage. Good luck!
  8. Depends on what time I was going out. If it was later, like after 7:30 I'd cook something. If it were earlier I'd ask my hubby if he would care if they ate out. He wouldn't care.
  9. Only go to Chick-Fil-A. They are the only place that gets orders right!
  10. Dislike :glare: Still mourning the Ravens here.
  11. What helped my son was finding books about subjects he was interested in. He's passionate about baseball and football so I would get him sports related fiction and nonfiction. He enjoyed reading biographies about his favorite sports teams. The series that he can't book down though is Harry Potter. Both my ds9 and dd10 love them. They are in a race to finish the fourth one right now. It has over 700 pages! When they are finished they get to see the movie-this motivates them too.

  13. I think it's somewhat normal for your feet to hurt after walking awhile but his hurt too quickly. As I'm writing this I'm thinking of all the times he tells me his feet hurt after basketball or baseball games. I'll try the gel pads and then get him into a doctor. It definitely seems abnormal. Thanks!
  14. My son(9) always complains of his feet hurting when we are walking for a long time at places like amusement parks, field trips etc. It makes for a miserable time. It doesn't seem to matter if his shoes are expensive or cheap. All our feet tend to be on the flat side. Has anything worked for you?
  15. I think it's genetic. My dd 10 has had stinky armpits for years now. We've had to up the showering to at least every other day plus deodorant. When she was younger we switched to organic milk and chicken but it didn't help. I have a ds 9 who never stinks and a ds5 who just started stinkin when he's really sweaty and hasn't bathed in a few days. My doc said not to worry too. Fwiw....I never stink. I could go without deodorant and be fine. Hubby is another story.
  16. Thanks for all the replies, it's encouraging to know he has time for improvement and could eventually grow out of it. Thanks for the reminder of homework. We've not seen the therapist in a few months because of summer vacations and now scheduling conflicts and I've honestly forgotten to have him practice daily. We pay out of pocket because the ps said he wasn't outside the curve when we originally had him tested 2 years ago. I suppose we'll plug along and hope eventually the ending/ blends click like the beginning sound has. thanks again!
  17. My son is 9 and has been working with a speech therapist for about a year and a half roughly once every other week for an hour. He is now able to say the sound at the beginning of the word ie road, rabbit etc, but not at the end of the word (pitcher, corn, star) Has anyone had a child who eventually was able to say the ending sound at this late age? Should I quit therapy? Should I get more therapy??
  18. Hi, This is our first year using A Beka health. I like the way the 4th grade book breaks down the chapters in bite size portions and has review questions every couple of pages. The 6th grade does not. You have to read many many pages before any review questions show up. I have the worksheets/quizzes/tests but even these are sporadic in the way they review. How do you use the 6th grade book? As a reader? Has anyone made up review questions? Thanks!
  19. We're on our 3rd week here. The kids and I really like it. They think it's fun! The only negative, which is more of personal choice, is the way it's bound. Sometimes the kids have to look at day one's definitions later in the week and it annoys me that they can't flip left to right but rather up and back. kwim? They haven't complained about it, just me :)
