wagnfun
DD got money for her birthday. She wants to add to her book collection. We have the Little House books and some American Girl books but I think she is a bit to young for them. What are some of the favorites for a 6 yr old girl? Any bedtime book suggestions? Chapter book ideas? Thanks for any ideas! Corby
sparrow
Cobble Street Cousins series by Cynthia Rylant. We just got the first book for our 7 year old daughter's Easter basket. I can see I should have bought the rest of the series. They are well written and sweetly illustrated. I can only describe them as charming! I bought this book because one of the Amazon reviews likened it to "Jane Austen for little girls" or something. I was all over it at that point :). melissel
My daughter loves these: http://www.amazon.com/Marigold-Feather-Journey-Begins-Chronicles/dp/1402208723/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239642332&sr=8-1 The lead character of one of them is even a HSed girl. The illustrations are lovely, the content and writing are good, and they have projects and additional lessons too. We love them.
Amy in KS
We love the Boxcar Children as a read aloud! We also liked the Cobblestone Cousins books.
unsinkable
What is her reading level? My suggestion is to buy some nonfiction books (eyewitness type, with lots of pics) until she is a 3rd gr. to 4th gr. reading level. At that level, your choices really open up. Good luck. amsunshine
In addition to some of the others mentioned here, my dd, who will be turning six next month, loves Jenny and the Cat Club books, by Esther Averill.
