Vrouwtje
Ds8 will be in 3rd grade next year and he would really like to start learning Latin. What are your favorite programs to start with? Thanks for sharing!
Shasta Mom
Lively Latin has become our favorite curriculum of the year. Level one fine to start in 3rd grade............
SonshineLearner
And, my daughter started Latina Christiana was started by my 3rd grader. My mom...and other daughters started it with her. I wish that I had kept at it! It worked for them by making it a real class. They meet once a week on Mondays at a certain time. They've tried other days...but whichever day they settle on...they stick to it... After LCI they did LCII and now are plugging through Henle....It's been great! I wish I knew Latin.....BUT, I'll learn it with my son...He'll be starting in 2 years... Carrie:-)

MamaT
Another vote for Latin Christiana. My kids have really enjoyed using this - and my 3rd grader is picking it up quicker than anyone else!
Ali in OR
We're enjoying Latin for Children with the DVD. Third grade is fine for starting any of these programs--if he were younger, Song School Latin or Prima Latin are more gentle introductions. 5Youngs
We finished Prima Latina and are now on Latina Christiana I. I highly recommend the dvds.
AudreyTN
We've used Song School Latin, Minimus, and Latin's Not So Tough Level 1. We really liked using all of them. I have to say that even if you only do Latin's Not So Tough Level 1, it is invaluable to learning the letters and sounds. It goes through one letter at a time with exercises practicing the sounds. Closeacademy
Minimus was a lot of fun to introduce Latin. But we are really learning a lot from Lively Latin. :001_smile:
