YaelAldrich
My DH has been invited to a conference in Cairo in November. Yes, we are Orthodox Jews (no, we will not look identifiably Jewish while we are there). Yes, we will need to bring all our own food. But we want to do some sightseeing while we are there. Suggestions? We love markets (souks), cultural places, museums, natural history, mosques and other holy places. Thanks!

East Coast Sue
If you have a couple of days, you can go on the Nile, Luxor to Aswan and see Valley of the kings and many other stops along the way. The boats are not very large but a great way to tour- much safer than by car. 1
East Coast Sue
Be aware the museums are intentionally offensive to Jewish people. I’m not Jewish but it was very offensive nonetheless. Pyramids in Cairo are an easy trip while in Cairo and several markets too. Be safe.
Amira
I will message you soon. The Jewish Community in Cairo is great and they would be delighted to show you around. I can also send the Cairo map I created while I lived there. November is a great time to be there. It will have cooled off and the air quality usually isn’t too awful by then.
DawnM
I have not been to Chairo since I was a teenager, so I don't know any more recent developments. We did go to the museum where King Tut is and we did climb the pyramids (back in the days when you could go inside), and toured the sphinx. I did not ride a camel.....but that might be something to do if you are into that. I am sure there is much more to do now than back then. Enjoy!
